Linda Chen LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear Players,
2006 marked the WPBA's 30th anniversary. Progress and positioning the WPBA for long-term success was the number one priority. The focus to elevate the WPBA product was the catalyst for another milestone. This past November, the organization elected its first ever non-player President.
It is an honor to represent the WPBA in this capacity, but more significantly is the responsibility entrusted to me by my peer Board members, which is made up of four players and three business leaders. The opportunities that lie ahead are not new, as my role on the Board this past year familiarized me with these challenges, but most importantly, I am excited about the bright horizon just ahead.
The ability to effectively lead change and position this organization for sustainable growth is the mission. The groundwork for this objective was laid in 2006, and 2007 will showcase some of the hard work and diligence. The television fans of pool will see a fresh new product as Winnercomm, America's largest independent sports production, program development, marketing service and sales representation company, will produce all WPBA events through 2009.
ESPN continues as the WPBA's cable partner delivering twenty-five hours of original programming across America plus numerous additional replay hours. We are also in negotiations to renew several International television contracts. These International outlets will deliver even greater broadcast hours and broaden the WPBA's worldwide exposure.
We also look forward to adding sponsors from outside the industry, increasing exposure of the WPBA through co-marketing partnerships. Such opportunities will serve to elevate the sport and all those involved to another level, with increased prize money, premium venues, improved fan experiences and promotional programs between the billiard industry and corporate America. May the New Year ring in with great momentum for change and new opportunities.
Sincerely,
Linda Chen
WPBA President
