Just who did they get to put up $150K, and why were these 2 chosen to compete? I'm a little sceptical of the "gravevine" ! Seems highly unlikely!

just more hot air!

Vagabond,

I hope your right! Sounds like some real pool to me! Makes my day weather it happens or not.

Thanks,

Somebody or a group of somebodies thinks putting up $150,000 for this match may be a good thing, kind of the battle of the sexes between two Billiard Congress of America Hall of Famers. Great deal for both players, though!

Best two out of three sets of 8-ball will be an interesting format. Since the majority of pool-playing folk in the States do play 8-ball, it may generate some interest as it relates to pocket billiards on TV. This morning, I visited the ESPN site, and I kept hitting links and searching for "pool" and "billiards," but came up empty, with the exception of one article written about the hottest chicks in sports. They had a very complimentary snippet about Jennifer Baretta AND a link to an ESPN radio interview. I did not see one mention of any international or national pocket billiards competition events.

I hope this isn't an urban legend, and I will look forward to seeing this, if and when it unfolds. :)

I know a transvestite who will take the winner on for less than half that. He will even give them weight. Bugger it, I'll even let them pick my frock.

Vagabond,

Is this the same informant that gave you a heads up that Lil John was gonna be in action in AZ when in fact John wasn't even in that state??

If this one happens then it sounds awesome and I hope it is taped.

I didnt see a date on the Jans win. When was it?

Nostroke,

You didn't see a date on it? Wendy's win took place on June 10 2005 at Ostrów Wielkopolski Poland  a 12 hour auto trip from her home at Bree Belgium.

A real trooper Wendy! If you want to see Wendy and Sarah Ellerby.
Wendy will be in Florida from June 17 to June 26 2005 For Spirit Tour and Classic Tour. A world Class player Wendy just like Kelly Fisher. Best the classic tour has had it in a long time.

y 8 ball .how about 14.1 race to 500 .. ..????/

How about these people with the $100K sponsoring the pro tours or at least sponsoring a player? This would be much more entertaining if it was Keith McCready Vs Kid Delicious for a $100K purse. (IMO).

Ill be at Wally's and Hardrock too- Afterall Florida is my second home.

Wally's is the place that made me go out and buy my own set of balls. They had these nice freshly recovered tables and these mismatched old faded, chipped up balls-It really got to me. I couldnt enjoy playing at all-Now that problem is solved and im a happier man.

This is reminiscent of the CJ Wiley/Vivean Villarael match a while back. No offense meant towards Lori but I'd like to see one of the best women playing like Allison. This will be another situation where the woman gets trounced by the guy. I would much rather see Allison or whatever female is considered the top player at any given time playing the top male player so we can see just what the gap is between the two of them. I like the male player to win and that's where I would bet all my V cash but I think people will be a little surprised at the outcome.

why not 14.1? just think if this is also a opportunity that the sponsors are looking at as a way to get pool more mainstream... do you think that people would turn on ESPN and see them playing straight pool... they wouldn't understand and go watch whatever else they could find, on the other hand, if they were playing 8ball, a game that everyone in america has probably played atleast once in their lives... so watching it might hit their interest seeing a game they know

just a thought

FYI, I received a flyer in email for this event. Supposed to be the start of a series of 'heads up 8-Ball Challenge Matches and 8-Ball Tournaments'.
