I believe as a option you can still order dbl Kersh rings from SW on the butt sleeve. The hole size in the pin is NOT a dead give away to a Kersh as a lot of people think

But mine were only SouthWests and not Kersenbrocks...........

I do not have a letter on the BEM cue but since it is identical to the PH I figure it is implied.

Vass,
You are aware that you could order SW's from Jerry with double rings in the butt, correct? DPK did do a lot of those but so did JF.

You acquired a great cue nonetheless.

I also have 6 pointer 80s DPK that was authenticated as DKP by Southwest (when they authenticated my 90s pre-pin number SW).

I'll see if I got any photos at home or even take some photos.

I just got DPK contact information and will be calling them tomorrow.

I know for a fact Jerry really hated the double ring work and I have never seen any pre-date or Franklin cues with a double ring.
This option is on now but not during the time Jerry was making the cues.

Vass

Anyway the cue is not for sale,it feels like ma last 2 Kers and I hope it plays like them so I cna keep it and play with it.

it's not just the big "cup" at the pin tip but the thin sharp threads as well as the thin "veneer' double ring work that are part of what might give this away. John Wright was a good friend of mine and i'll bet i've seen more Kersenbrock's and Southwest's at that time than most . John always had some in stock between 1984 - 1987 and this one follows the same pattern as those ones. he used to be a grain dealer at the Board of Trade in Chicago. at the same time i was working for a brokerage firm there and we used to meet in the atrium at least twice a week for a couple years and he would show me the new "stock" of cues which always contained some SW's and Kers's. i don't know this cue but it looks like the real deal. only time, a receipt or David K. will tell.

If he authenticates this cue I am sending both of mine to him as well.

I HAVE 86 SW I ORDERED IN 86 AND GOT IT IN 87, I STILL HAVE IT, IT HAS THE LARGE HOLE IN THE FRONT OF THE PIN LIKE THIS CUE BUT ITS A BIT DIFFERENT, LAURIE COULD ALSO TELL AS WELL, MY VOTE IS KERS NOT SW-BUT IM NOT AN EXPERT BUT DO HAVE A SW FROM THAT ERA-NO MATTER WHAT ITS A GREAT CUE.

Hi To all.
I just came from the pool hall and guess what:this cue outplayed my other stiff Sw with coc and ebony points in any respect.

I get the curve draw is you know what I mean.
The cue is not for sale and this cues plays 10 times better than all the pre-date sw I have ever had/like 7 or 8/
Crazy draw, crazy follow and super crisp "click" sound.
Good night

Hi Vass,
I'm glad you like the cue and plan on keeping it...
I'm sure that cue will be an 80's SW...
I have no idea where people come up with the misconception that the double rings on the butt are a Kersenbrock trademark..
It is the complete opposite....
Jerry was the one that did the double rings.. David was well know for NOT matching the rings on the butt...
I've had a slew of SW's with the double rings..NONE were Kersenbrocks..
I just left Lauries shop on Monday with a double ring backend 6 high point.. NOT a Kersenbrock.. It was bought from John Wright.. As many were...
Laurie can usually find the paperwork on most of these double ring cues almost always SW... Who says so??? Laurie and the whole shop... They did make them, they should know...
Bring up the agruement that you've seen documented double ring cues said to be Kersenbrock from collections.. That is a huge can of worms.. And I'm not going there...
Guarenteed they were'nt sent to SW..
Best,
Ken

kershenbrock's name is always bandied about ,,,i think maybe more than any qmaker i've ever heard.

I would just like to feel the hit on one of his simple player cues to compare to the Southwest I have owned and played with to see the differences if any, his name is mentioned for some reason.

Leonard

I'm not so sure that it's a Kersenbrock. I have one (a real one) and the pin is different. My pin is center drilled for use with a live center on a lathe. Your pin has some kind of weird useless void.

if that Ebay cue is this cue it is most definitely a SW.i talked to the guy 3 times on the phone and offered him $2200 and he said he would get back to me next before noon and he tried to stall for 2-3 days so i cancelled my offer.looks like he should have taken it,but anyway he told me that he and his brother ordered it directly from Jerry with the special length butt sleeve.it is not a Kersenbrock.the first buyer is lying to you.he said he was with his brother when he ordered it.sorry.

Mason - thanks for sticking with this. The problem with cue-selling is that so many people are so intent on making a buck, that they will say whatever it takes, and the 'grey area' is WAY overused on this forum. Maybe this IS a Kers, but if you have information that others may interpret as indicating that it IS NOT, then you need to disclose it. That's my opinion. Thanks Mason, for providing us with the info that the seller chose not to.

That is one Jazzy cue!
