NO Match for Harriman/Schmidt

Response from Kimberly to Neil

Danny left a message while I was out of town that he had left messages for Mark but had not received a return call. I have left messages for Danny but I need him to call me.

There are two issues.

1. I need an address for Danny.

2. He asked to have us make a large donation on his behalf. I will not to do that because then Danny cannot take the write off on his taxes. He needs to make the donation himself.

If someone can please get Danny to call me or email his address to me I will gladly take care of this immediately. I cannot do anything however until I get an address.

I don't see where anyone needs compensation if nothing is stopping them from playing. There is o lose to be covered.

Except for the fact that they said they were going to pay both of them, and John was going to donate most of his to charity.

Now, if they can't afford to pay them after promising them they would, then, if they are the nice people they are made out to be, they should at least be nice enough to let them know that they are not getting paid, not just leave them hanging in the breeze.

And just what has that got to do with anything??

Well Neil, the initial subject of the thread was "No match for Harriman/Schmidt, but I can see why you would ask what does this have to do with anything considering it fell through the cracks 60 pages ago:grin:

Can this thread please just die?

60 pages, over 30K views, and 800 something responses and I have been able to take away nothing informative.

I guess I didn't have to read it, but still, I did, and found it to be utterly worthless.

I understand your thoughts. :)

For some entities on this thread -- myself not included -- pool is their livelihood in some form or another. When sucker-punching monkey snipers fire verbal bullets at these entities in an effort to destroy their reputation, you can be sure the pool entity(s) will respond to defend their reputation. In some instances, the entities may have allies or relatives aligned with them in their defense. That is what has happened on this thread.

For some, pool is fun and games; for others, it's their life. This is why there is such a variety of replies in this thread. You have the good, the bad, and the, oh, so very ugly.

JAM have you considered your own culpability in this matter? You've made 96 posts so far in this thread (94 actually, but I'm sure you'll make a couple more before I get this one submitted lol). That's almost twice as many posts as the next most prolific poster here, around three times as many as Kimberly's brother made to attack Mark, four times as many as Mark felt he needed to defend himself, and an astounding 13 times as many as the OP herself made in total.

I don't get why you feel the need to ride into every controversial thread like Joan of Arc going to war. I find it tedious to say the least, and at its worst it is often inciting to the very disturbances you are attempting to quell. Please consider this as just an observation and not as a personal attack. I'm sure you're a nice person inside, and you are obviously an intelligent woman, but nobody hired you to police this place.

You're opinion on anything here is only one in thousands. If every one of the 131 members that have posted on this thread posted 94 times, it would be over 800 pages long and would contain over 12,000 posts! We all value our own opinions as much as you do yours, but very few feel the need to push them on others as much as you seem to need to.

Food for thought is all. :)

Well I guess you got your answer from St8 shots. Pretty generous of them id say.

That was fast! Good for you! Danny is being texted to call you. Sometimes he is in an area that doesn't have service for a day or two, so don't know just when he will call.

Won't he first have to claim that as income, though? He might actually lose money doing it that way, aside from seriously complicating his IRS return. Just a thought, I'm the world's worst when it comes to tax knowledge.

Everyone is different in what is important to them and post in unique ways. If Jam likes to post more than most people then so be it. If you don't like a certain poster you can put the on ignore. Some people like to read her posts. All of them.

FWIW, I will always stand up for something I feel is right. When I see a good organization being bashed for reasons I feel are not deserving, I will reply -- even if I am the only one against a pack of cyberbullies, testicle dangers, banned members, and multiple-identitied trolls posting.

If you don't like to read what I post or how many times I post, then put me on ignore. Nothing wrong with that.

You know, you may think you are being funny, but your words are vulgar and disgusting. I hope the moderators take notice.

All this gansta crap, trying to be something you're not. Speaks volumes.

The ONLY way to be with you is carefree and funny. If people took you seriously, they'd throw their computer out the window. You're the only one who would take that as gangsta crap, believe it. If I was really serious, you'd know it.

It's bad when you have to spell out >>>> THIS IS A JOKE >>>>> and the person still thinks they're being attacked with gangsta shit.

I can fill ya wit real millionaire shit.... escargo...my car go... 160....swiftly....wreck'it buy a new one. My crew run-run...... does your crew run-run?

See... that's the thing...nobody is dangling testicles...nobody is attacking women...although you STRIVE to frame it in that manner.

I was with you until that last paragraph. You lost me there....guess I'm too old for that crap. Suspect Jam is too. (since we are the same age):D

My impression is that str8 shots is getting a lot of unfair flak from tinfoil-hat types,
guys who see Machiavellian profit-motivated chess moves in every little thing,
when really it was as simple as:
"we don't think our player should play this match because he might flip out, which makes us look bad".

TAR is happy and JCIN is the first guy to call bullshit if he sees it.
JS is presumably happy. Harriman probably isn't but I've never seen him happy.

Not too long ago, I believe a thread was deleted because of (apparently) unfair accusations
against Charlie Williams about an event he put on. And the accusations actually came from
one of the involved parties rather than people on the sidelines who don't know the facts.

If AZ is willing to nuke a thread like that, then they should be willing to nuke this thread,
where an apparently decent promoter (who has a much better rep than CW) is being
unfairly accused of shady tactics by people who aren't even involved.

Lets say you are correct. What makes a tinfoil hat type's opinion any less valuable than say, a naïve sensitive new age guy type's opinion?

"Class action lawsuits" was a figure of speech meant to be funny...i.e. "a joke."

Nobody attacked you... nor did people not have their facts straight. When you first entered the thread yesterday, you perceived the flow of posts to be attacking Str8 Shots and they weren't. Therefore, you became indignant for no reason defending someone who wasn't being attacked and then over-reacted with the suing talk.

FWIW I went through a thoroughly hellish time a few years back when I inadvertently started a cyber war after I started a tongue-in-cheek thread lampooning a high-tech canoe company and its owners. I created a fictitious rival company that claimed to be able to put out a superior boat for under $1000 (1/3 the "going price"). No names were ever mentioned, nor were any specific facts about the company given - true or false - but the owners of the real company knew exactly who I was referring to.

The story was a rollicking tale - part sci-fi, part Forrest Gump, and the rest pure silliness - of a guy who knew nothing about boat building (or much else, apparently), but had the brilliant idea of enlisting the "experts" among the membership to solve the problem of how to actually do it. It was supposed to be fun, while actually informing the membership about the pitfalls of high-tech vacuum infusion of carbon-fiber craft.

The administrators of the site thought my thread was a riot (as did the vast majority of the membership at the time) and encouraged me in my attempts at humor. They even posted a link to the thread on the front page and promised me a few paid assignments based on the quality of the writing. They viewed it as a way to generate a a community spirit during the winter doldrums, and encouraged everyone to get involved.

The two guys from the never-mentioned-by-name canoe company (who I thought were my friends) took umbrage at my statements and delivered a two-pronged attack that extended way beyond the canoeing forum I posted on. Suddenly I was under fire from every angle. The site administrators grew pale as impending lawsuits were mentioned, and they took down the link on the front page and tried to point the spotlight at me. The two guys used their massive database to send out e-mails vilifying me and my wife (who they both knew well, but had no part in any of it) and even sent me a copy of the e-mails with the addresses of hundreds of my fellow paddlers attached to it. Some of the lies they told still hurt to this day.

I felt betrayed, embarrassed, and powerless at the same time. Then I got angry. I have a lawyer at my disposal as well, a "nobody" who just happened to successfully defend Rep. John Sweeney and many other high-profile scum bags and kept them out of jail, at least for awhile. Not only that, he's my favorite niece's husband, and the guy just worships me. So, needless to say, I'm rather "lawyered up" myself.

I came to him all worried, and showed him the original thread, their vicious and untrue comments on the thread before it was locked by the mods, and the e-mail that was sent to me, where one of the owners claimed my comments on the thread constituted a "tortable offense".

Here's what I found out in my own case:

1. I was not close to being guilty of libel by any definition of the law he was aware of.

2. Even if I had made intentionally false statements, the judge would have to see the damages caused. Fair or not, in real life these cases are always decided by their monetary damages, and these damages have to be real and they have to be provable.

3. The e-mail smear campaign they took on against me bordered on criminal harassment, a heck of a lot worse charge than a tort punishable by a fine.

He offered to write a letter that would be worded in such that he was about 99% sure the harassment would stop the instant their attorney read it, but he suggested I wait to see where it went first. In the end, I received no further threats or anything from these guys, so I dropped the matter. However the damage was already done to me. I was shunned by the community that worshipped these guys, and that ended my bid to put high-quality strip-built wooden pack canoes under the butts of hundreds of wilderness canoe trippers. I haven't made one in over five years now.

So you have to ask yourself... Is it worth it?

Kept annoying that dog and one day he (she) may just turn around and bite your face off. It may not even be a "legal" bite as promised. It could be much worse, though, as I sadly learned for my self the hard way. ;)
