No more Meucci for this guy

Over the holidays I have come across numerous 'originals' that are brand new with the old block letter logo to boot. There have been quite a few on eBay and even the back cover of a Muellers catalog. Both instances they were marked as 'exclusive' lol

Some of you might remember the white city of lights that popped up this way. Now I am seeing some 84 series and even the airplane cue. Jump sticks are also coming back, but they actually had the sense to put the script logo on those.

This was the last straw for me and I will no longer buy, recommend, or support them. After my two ship trip 11 month fiasco to have a refinish - now this - I have little respect if any. Although I actually liked the old originals and have some they are ruining those as well with the new copies. I cannot even think of a legitimate reason to do this other than money and to fool customers thinking they are getting an older cue. It is pretty well known the quality and play of the old ones was better.

Hmmm.....interesting thread because I'm in the market for one of the Meucci Originals and got alot of offers ranging from $150-$500. The discrepancy in prices is what is making me hesitant in a few of the offers. Good to know.....

The fact that they are selling cues with the old logo really puts me off as well. Mr Meucci has a tremendous name in cues and in cue history. Meucci cues certainly obtained a dismal reputation for quality for a number of years but then I was hearing they were resolving that. Whether ow not any quality issues are resolved at this point means little to me. As an aficionado of older cues I find it disturbing that Meucci would blur the lines on the identity of their products.

Why are they doing this? Obviously just some kind of marketing ploy, but to me it is dirty pool.

I know the facts of why he is doing this. Exclusive is being used as in these cues are being made exclusively for one customer. This pirticular customer is ordering them that way. Please do not for one second the Bob is trying to trick anyone because he is not. He is simply giving his customer what they want and ordered.

Well, he should refuse to do certain things in my opinion. I'm a big meucci fan of the older ones. If they are selling new meucci's with the original on it how will people tell the difference between the real originals and the new ones?

I agree, why would Meucci not put a "2" on them for second edition or something. I only ship Meucci's to Scott Erwin as he does fantastic work on the old Meucci's in a timely fashion and at fair prices. He has done a few cues and even redone the castle walls outlining everything before refinishing it. I was shell shocked !!!

I agree with you. A cue maker owes his old loyal customers and collectors something and its loyalty to those principals that keeps customers coming back and paying the money.

If you want a Gina with the old logo, you best be bringing Ernie an old Ginacue with the old logo to rebuild. He would never screw his collectors by making new cues to mimic the old ones.

Maybe that's one of the reasons Ernie gets 6K for his product while Meuci gets 300.

i have not had a problem with meucci in the pass.all of the meucci i own looks & plays good.BUT THIS IS TOO MUCH WHAT THE HELL.i dont care if it was a special order for one guy or 10 they fuc#ed up this time.no more meucci for me!!!!!!!!!!!

Totally agree - nobody is forcing him to put the old logo on new cues and you can't tell me he doesn't know what is going on. I could 'maybe' understand a single cue with the old logo if a customer was replacing a previous cue that was stolen, broken, etc, but not 50, 100, or however many they are making.

To say he is just doing what the customer wants is a very poor argument IMO.

Look yall, I agree with yall about him not putting the traditional Meucci Original stamp on them. But the fact is uncle Bob owns his company and will do as he pleases with it. I am a BIG time Meucci collector and it upsets me the same as it does yall but I would never say that I would never buy another Meucci again. Some people think that I am bias because I am related. Let me tell yall now that is not no where close to the case. I simply love the craftsmanship and he has some of the most amazing designs there are to date.

First off...you are clearly INSANELY biased. ;)

And I'm not at all saying that is a bad thing , it just is what it is whether you can see it or not. We all can.

Secondly, Obviously Bob CAN do what he wants. No one is saying he can't. Bob has done many many things to hurt his own company that most of us die hard supporters have been very pained to see. It honestly has killed me seeing him drive his name into the ground these last 20 years. I have around a dozen cues that I still cherish, a couple even go back before the 'Originals' logo. I'm pretty biased too. But I can also call a spade a spade.

Lastly, yea. There's no good reason , none at all, that Bob should make and allow these old logo cues to get out into the market and create the stir and confusion that he knows without a doubt, that they will. It's poor business, poor ethics and poor judgement. I had honestly hoped he was going to try and turn around his name and image , try and get back even a fraction of what the name Meucci used to mean when World Champions were playing his cues all over the world. But it seems like he's still making bad choices and its' a damn shame if you ask me.

Damn Shame. I hope you tell him that too.

:frown:

Well I own several new Meucci's and all of mine are flawless. Surely these EXPERTS that keep saying the Meucci cues that they have bought lately will be able to tell a new one from an real original. I mean Meucci never was trash talked during the ORIGINAL days. Know what I mean????

During those days there was no internet.

Funny. Meucci making fake meucci cues. Even if a customer custom ordered them like that it is a little janky in my opinion. How will a one be able to tell the (real) old ones, from the (replica) fake ones. Wow!
