Now I'm pissed

uh oh, i feel like this thread is going to get highjacked quick. It went from a debate about a not-so-fancy DVD (but with invaluable content) to a discussion about religion and now, Hal Houle has joined in as well!

Adam (goes to Harriman's myspace page...)

Hey Mully I would have been pissed also. After reading I kind of understand the other points of views also. I am new but have been reading about 6 months. There are some real jerks on here and you are not one of them.

You're probably right. That "$0.00" on the shipping stamp got under my skin really bad. I still think it wouldn't have killed whoever put this together to at least print out a cover for the disc.
MULLY

It was probably paid online buddy...

as far as the postage goes he might have an account. that way the post office doesnt have to sit there and weigh it and label over and over again. too many methods of payment for postage now...41 is kinda expensive for a burnt dvd but if the content is going to make you 1/2 a ball better than its worth it and we would all buy 10 of em, wouldnt we...i would personally rather have the blank with the thank you and the signature..in years youll be able to explain to your grandchildren what a dvd is and it will be signed, which may be worth 40 bucks 40 years from now. the signature also makes someone like danny seem closer to his public..how cool would it be if every dvd and cd we bought had tom cruise or metallicas signatures inside saying thanks..........

As Tricky Dick used to say, let me make myself perfectly clear,.
I bought Danny's DVD. I noticed the cover had a hand written thank you and Danny's autograph. I thought that that was a nice touch, more than sufficient, and gave it no further thought. I proceeded to the contents which is what I paid my money for. I am totally satisfied. In addition to this I think Danny is a very nice young man and I wish him the very best and will be watching his career.

Danny ended a post by thanking God for his gift. No big deal, but in a public venue it invites a response. I responded with a short non-vituperative expression of my opinion, for which I have received some criticism, which bothers me very little. Danny took umbrage and replied somewhat hostilely, but I let that pass. It did not alter my good opinion of Danny. End of exchange, I hope.

Look at the envelope right above the postage stamp. It says FLAT RATE MAILER...when you buy the envelope, postage is included in price that's why $0.00 stamp

And, for what it's worth, I didn't mind paying the extra 6 bucks for shipping since I'm overseas. I totally understood that and was more than willing to pay it. My entire problem with this is that no effort was taken to package this. The DVD doesn't even have anything written on it, it's just a plain white disc. I could lay it on my desk and it would get lost.

How many of you would pay $41.00 for this?

This thread has inspired me to order the DVD, thanks.

Just one thing. Danny, god didn't give you anything. You and I have exactly the same amount of knowlege of god. None.

Dave(The Atheist)Nelson

I guess the one thing Danny and I have that you don't Dave, is...FAITH. I'll pray for you brother...

I know this is an old thread but....

Sorry to bump such an old thread but this is just ridiculous. IMHO

First of all why do you care? ;) After reading this and your previous posts in this thread I have to ask: Are you so threatened by another mans beliefs that you feel his comments in a "public" forum "invite a response'"? Danny Harriman was not trying to prosthelytize the group or convince you(us) that the only way to play good 14.1 is through faith and belief in god? The man is just being humble and giving HIS creator the credit for his gifts. I guess that's what aggravates me about (some)non believers. It not enough for them that THEY don't believe, they feel like they have to try and make everyone else feel stupid and naive for believing in something greater than themselves. I know TOO MANY PEOPLE who's actual lives have been saved (figuratively and literally) through new found faith in God, whether it's from drugs, booze, or any other self destructive behavior. I find it refreshing to hear people publicly thank god for there blessings. If there was more of it I don't think the world would be as screwed up as it is IMO. Please believe me, I'm not trying to pick a fight here, I just don't see anything wrong with expressing religious sentiments if they're genuine and with Danny I think they are.

Moral of the story? Believe what you want to.. but for your sake, I hope you're right...:grin-devilish:
let the flaming begin! <=== pun intended

Wow, why is it the atheists, satanic worshipers, Muslims, Catholics, Buddha worshipers, Obamalites and the many more religions out there can show their faith without it being considered "pushing it on someone".

Yet a man who believes in a loving God simply says thank you and he gets chastised.

Why does being a Christian 'invite' public 'negative' response? That is my question.

Well, that's because people are different. For example, to me it's blasphemy to hear all those so-called christians claim they got their skill, fortitude, or whatever, from god.

And, by the way, to me it's also interesting to find that most of the religious people happen to live in the Mid East.

That's interesting...it's blasphemy to hear people claim to do things all on their own. And what's more interesting is placing a 'location' on 'most religious people'.

One more thing... Christianity(imho) isn't a 'religion'... It's a belief and a way of life based on Biblical principles, not man made rules created using the Bible as a guide for those rules. There IS a difference.

I'm not a 'religious' man, I'm a God fearing Christian who sins on a daily basis. The difference is, Jesus Christ spilled his blood for my sins.

You are entitled to believe what you wish...Granted. That's the most awesome thing we have and yet can be the most detrimental, Free Will. Thing is...I'd rather be wrong and waste a little time...yet if you're wrong, you've wasted an eternity.

Back to the point, why is it that people can chastise Christians for wearing something or having something that shows off their beliefs, yet people can wear satanic or demonic or Christian hate material and not be chastised for it?

Why is it that I'm persecuted as a Christian and why do I have to tolerate non-Christians/believers hate speech against me and my beliefs? If I dress up as Christ for Halloween, I'm sent home from school. Why can the devil go to school, but Christ can't? Why can't I pray in my school to the very God that my country was founded on but my tax dollars support and pay for Muslim schools?

Makes no sense...

Pointless to argue about Christianity in the Straight Pool Forum

So-called?

Blasphemy?

The man expressed gratitude for being blessed with hand/eye coordination to play the game at a level that enabled him to run 280 balls.

FWIW, I don't believe that I have ever read anything on this forum by Danny Harriman that was intended to offend you or anybody else, your beliefs or your views on beliefs (or anybody else's).

Also, these discussions belong in NPR. This is one of the last forums on this site that remains ON TOPIC. I hope that we can keep it that way by keeping the arguments out of here.

Agree with all of the above....

Sorry...I'm done

Great Job Danny no matter what anyone says!!!!!

talk about beating something to death!

I opt to have this thread removed, yes i am siding with danny on this one.

I was not at all bothered by the packaging. what you are getting out of this video is worth well over $35, and in all honest this video is going to end up in my binder of other pool DVD's so whats the difference.

Although i would have preferred it if he would of Autographed the DVD instead!

I have learned a valuable lesson from this DVD and it seems since i have watched it a few times i seem to use at least one piece of it everytime i play.

My hats off to danny for a great job and a great run caught on video.

I cant wait for the next one. I am pushing to see something in the 300's

Steve

Sorry for bumping the thread. It was dead and I started it again. I just really like danny and hate to see him treated like that.
I got if off my chest and feel a little better.

Ok. Back to straight pool!!!!!!

So now Christianity is not a religion..?!

And you say that you're a God fearing Christian who believe Jesus Christ spilled his blood for your sins... and yet you proclaim not being a religious person?!

Well, I guess only religious people would come up with something like that.

Btw, this might be of interest to some of you:

I would expect something like this from someone who is a non-believer.

As someone mentioned, this is in the wrong forum.

Good Day
