NU FINISH car wax on super arimiths

Wax is usually not a good idea. Polish is ok but wax puts a coating on the ball that will come off on the cushions and the cloth and will cause the balls to react to collisions abnormaly, especially when it wears off unevenly. The wax will get sticky and will cause the balls to skid.

You might try Brillianize. It's a plastics polish that doesn't put a coating on the balls.

Waxing the balls is against the rules (WPA tournament equipment specs):

16. Balls and Ball Rack
All balls must be composed of cast phenolic resin plastic and measure 2 ¼ (+.005) inches [5.715 cm (+ .127 mm)] in diameter and weigh 5 ½ to 6 oz [156 to 170 gms]. Balls should be unpolished, and should also not be waxed. Balls should be cleaned with a towel or cloth free of dirt and dust, and may also be washed with soap and water. Balls contaminated with any slippery substance - treated with a polishing or rubbing compound and/or waxed - must be cleansed and dewaxed with a clean cloth moistened with diluted alcohol before play.

Thank you. I didn't know that polishing is not allowed. I knew that wax would put a coating on the ball that would effect the way it plays but I didn't realize that polishing would be disallowed.

So, after I put the balls in the polisher I should wipe them with diluted alcohol, maybe just rubbing alcohol.. since it's diluted alcohol.

I use simple green to clean, and Nu Finish to wax. I really like it.

Does the simple green stain the balls?

I tried Super Clean on a ball (Blue Dot) and it dyed it purple. Luckly I was able to get most of the color back with Aramith Ball Cleaner. I have become hesitant to use anything with color in it.

That is a strange rule for the WPA. I thought women were into waxing, but then they don't have balls either. :rotflmao:

Nu Finish isn't a wax. It's a polish which uses mild abrasion to lessen any scratches or swirle the balls have picked up during play.

I wasn't aware that it was against WPBA rules to polish the balls ... but I will continue to do so at home.

I use Meguiars PlastX on the car, watch crystals, and yes aramith billiard balls.

I use simple green also and have had no problems with the colors.
Reminds me of a joke. Two guys just finnished playing golf on a hot day and they go to the clubhouse to shower before going home. One guy is fat the other is skinny. The skinny guy sees his friend(the fat guy) getting out of the shower and sees the rolls of fat and his big belly. He says to the fat guy"Man your belly is huge,I bet you haven`t seen your d--k and b-lls in years".The fat guy says yeah that`s true. The skinny guy says "why don`t you diet?"The fat guy thinks for a moment and says "why what color are they now?"
sorry couldn`t resist.

Cleaner

For my ball cleaning machine I was told not to use anything with carnuba wax. Meguiars cleaner in the red tin was the recommendation. Works great for me.

The WPA is the World Pool-Billiard Association. The Women's Professional Billiard Association is the WPBA.

This is what I use as well. It does a fantastic job.
I first clean the balls with a little Windex, then polish with the Meguires.
I am very happy with the results.
