Observations about Meucci Cues

Dude, the only 'vast knowledge' you have is of your own swollen head. When was the last time you had a girlfriend? You might try getting a life instead of obsessing on pieces of wood used to hit around little round balls. Please, spare us your diatribe, it's nauseating .

Dude seriously, Just shut up while you're not ahead. The more you keep talking to more you make an ass out of yourself.

I'm glad you think your Meucci is nice. I think you are the one who doesn't have any knowledge. I think the more this thread continues ,the more people are in agreement of that fact.

So take your Meucci and go and play with your local pro using his broomstick.

My offer is still on the table if you want to try your luck at the table at Valley Forge. But do yourself a favor and bring lots of cash because I don't give free lessons. ;)

This is such funny timing to me, and I must admit I haven't read the entire thread, just the first couple pages..

I was out Saturday night and took my Mali (circa ,86 and I'll post pictures soon to hope to get a model number)...but anyway...

I let a good shot I know take an inning with it and he said, "this plays just like a 'me-oo-see' " I'm currently living in Wichita but grew up Italian just north of Philadelphia and I told him..."It's me-oo-chee" and it just blew him away.

On a similar note, I've been around a ton of folks over the years that have mispronounced Simonis..."sim-a-nis" is the most popular...I've always pronounced it "sim-own-iss" and my pronunciation was confirmed when I saw the CEO of Simonis being interviewed during a recent 9 ball tourney.

Good luck and good racks...

Mattie

You're the JERK who started s#%t in a thread that had nothing to do with your current inane diatribe. Do you know how many loser, poser, wannabes I've seen in pool, tennis, photography, golf, etc, etc. that attack other peoples equipment because they are too insecure about their own abilities that they feel they have to give other peoples equipment grief? Christ dude, you take the cake in this department. I have 4 Meucci's actually, 3 older ones and one newer one. I bought the newer one recently to see what all the noise was about in terms of quality. I'm not some idiot parrot that googles other peoples whining and makes it my own, which you seem to be doing. I see for myself. Since money is no object for me, I decided to try out a newer cue with the black dot shafts. You on the other hand have NO CLUE what you are talking about without actually trying out the cue you are attacking.

Are you this big of a jerk or did I just piss you off by dissing your joke? Do you really spend this much energy and effort attacking other peoples equipment, or just mine? Actually, I'm a nice guy and my thread has turned into who is the bigger asshole, which I'm glad to lose that battle, trust me.

So, you gonna give it a break? I wish you all the luck in your tournament. I hope you win, sincerely. I obviously won't make it as I'm too far away for such a trip. But, seriously, good luck.

your vast knowledge tells you meucii cues are worth somethin when they aint worth shit. i'll take his knowledge and put a dime down that it kicks your knowledges ass

Good observation

wow you gotta slow down or you're gonna pop a blood vessel. i don't care how much you love meucci cues the fact is they've gone down hill. that's why guys like me who used to love them and started playing with them shy away from the new stuff. people have the right to say they don't like them and we all have the right to be snobbinsh about what we like. my custom weighs 21.5 oz. and i take s*it from people all the time - so be it. let 'em laugh. i win with it. same for you getting worked up over this. let people say what they want. if you like your cue f*ck everyone else's opinion. don't get twisted and angry over it. it's not worth it. i will say this however - don't issue a challange and then say but i am not going to be playing. and i have to ask since you said it - what area are you in that so many people are "wielding" meucci? and does this list of people include you're pro who will play with a broomstick? i am willing to bet if he's a pro he's not shooting a meucci.;)

You're right, I know of no current pro's that play with Meucci's any longer. In fact, everyone seems to mix and match these days, different shafts mixed with different butts, whatever works best for them. That was never my point, I could care less who uses what. I still use my older Meucci's cuz why change when they work fine? My point was, attacking other peoples equipment just because you don't like it, or better yet, don't know much about it, is just stupid. If a guy can beat most people around town with a broomstick (and I've seen this first hand), then everybody should get over the 'good cue' vs 'bad cue' bulls%#t and learn that ability is what matters more than anything else.

Did you know that Mosconi didn't even own his own cue until his first finals for the World 14.1 championship? He played for years and years using whatever local poolroom stick was laying around. He couldn't afford to buy a 'custom' cue, but he beat everyone that came looking for him. That's talent, no BS, just talent. And did Mosconi go around running his mouth about everyone else's cues? Of course not, he just played with what he had and kept his mouth shut. When he did buy his first cue, it cost him like $4.

Here in the deep south, Meucci is still king, especially the older ones. Hell, they're made next door in Mississippi. I get offers on mine all the time, but I don't need the money so I keep on using them. Anyway, whatever. This thread has gone off the deep end anyway and is no longer on topic.

Wow

Wow dude, you have a way with words. You gonna be a writer? Very clever for a 14 year old boy, wonder what you'll be like when you grow up.

Is this your friend with the broom? Click Here. If by "most people around town" you mean your other high school friends who come in to play pool after cutting class, then I could possibly see it happening and why you'd be amazed. Any player who can draw a ball should be able to beat someone who's using a broomstick, so I can't imagine that he played anyone worth a damn. If your friend wants some action, I'd be more than happy to oblige.

Secondly, even if he does shoot with a broomstick, it's still a broomstick. If he shoots well with your Meucci, it's still a Meucci, and I still wouldn't want it. So you're right, it's not the stick that imbues you with skill, the player had it all along. That doesn't negate the fact that Meucci torched their reputation all by themselves. Check out a couple of these threads if you don't believe us by now.

WELL IT'S NOT SAYING MUCH FOR SOMEONE SAYING THE BEST GUY IN TOWN CAN BEAT EVERYONE ELSE WITH A BROOM STICK !! YOU KNOW I WILL BE WILLING TO BET THAT HE MAY WIN ONE GAME IF IT WOULD COME DOWN TO A LUCKY SHOT ON THE MONEY BALL BUT I WOULD BET THE GUY IS NEVER EVER GONNA BREAK AND RUN ON ME ! IT JUST AINT NEVER GONNA HAPPEN. IV'E BEEN PLAYING FOR AROUND 32 YEARS AND SURE I PICKED UP BROOM STICKS ALONG WITH EVERYONE ELSE JOKING AROUND AND POCKETING BALLS . BUT WHEN IT COMES TO RUNNING OUT ,OR CUE BALL CONTROL TO SET UP YOUR POSITION AND NEXT SHOTS , YOU OR YOUR BEST GUY IN YOUR TOWN JUST AINT GONNA DO IT , YOU KNOW IF HE IS GONNA RUN OUT A RACE TO 5 OR 10 , BEFORE I OR ANY OTHER CAPEABLE PERSON DO ,WITH OUR PLAYING CUES HEY FILM THIS SHIT AND POST IT HERE OR YOU-TUBE WE WOULD ALL LOVE TO SEE THAT SHIT ! BUT YOU AND ALL OF US KNOW IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN . HEY POST SOME PICTURES OF ALL YOUR MOOCHIES. WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM , I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT YOU LOVE YOUR CUE, AS YOU PLAY WITH IT EVERYDAY IM SURE. BUT WE ALL HERE KNOW THE PROBLEMS THAT MEUCCI HAD YEARS AGO , AND HOW THEIR QUALITY WENT DOWN HILL . HOPEFULLY BOB GOT ALL THAT SHIT WORKED OUT. AND THEY ARE BACK TO MAKEING A QUALITY CUE NOW !! HAVE A NICE SUMMER VACATION !

We all pay our money and make our choice. Frankly, I don't pay a whole lot of attention to what the other guy is playing with.

i've never heard that about willie mosconi and i don't buy it. and here in the deep the south - new meucci are still considered s*it. and if you like your black dot shaft more power to you. i hate them. i believe they are the worst garbage i've played with. i am glad you got great customer service from them. as i said before so did i - 15 years ago. in between now and then i've had freinds tell me horror stories. i also will not buy your "broomstick" shooting pro. he may have won a game or two doing it against people with marginal talent, but if he feels like trying that with everyone who comes to town you can give me a name and a number and i'm going to make some calls and i am sure i can get a bus load of people from here in GA. to come over and have fun busting him. as far as this thread getting off topic you brought us down this path. a few said they didn't like meucci and you brought up your broomstick pro, then you insulted a few people, and here we are. look face it, bob meucci went for the cash a long time ago. he started using cheaper materials, lesser quality wood, mass producing and now he brings that garbage medici line around. it's fine - he's in business to make money - so he is, any way he can. but to sit here and tell people they are stupid and don't know anything about cues is ignorant on your behalf. i learned quite about the cuemaking process when i had my custom made. and i've already said in this thread i can run racks with all of my cues, it's just preference. btw how good can the meucci rep be when they flood the market with factory second cues that should have been destroyed? and meucci has loads of those out there, just check the bay and feel free to stop by mr. cues here in atlanta, they've got tons of them for sale. trash all of it. so you see, most of us agree your older meucci cues = decent stuff. new meucci = s*it on a shingle.

It's in his book dude, HIS book

i've never heard that about willie mosconi

Read his book, it's in there for you to see for yourself. I know it's hard to believe in this day and age, with everybody obsessed with owning shit, but there was a time when pool players didn't run around goggle eyed about cue sticks. They just played and kept their mouths shut.

Oh Yeah! My EBay Meucci is better than your Meucci.
I like mine especially when I can tell the girls it a Pee Pee 1.

which book? i love to read. no mention in willie mosconi on pocket billiards. and in the hustler and the champ he does mention for a time he had to play for money to feed the family because he was broke, but that was after the bubble burst on the pool industry and i would have to go back and re-read that book to see if there is any mention of what cue he used. but i know he was sponsored by brunswick so i am sure he at least had one of thier cues. and it's not being obsessed with owning anything. any player worth his salt wants decent equipment. as i have said before, i am gald you enjoy yours (and you have mentioned you love your cues). i am glad you had a postitve experience with the customer service. i really hope this signals a change for a company which i used to support. but you can't tell the rest of us we're morons because we like our cues. i can state for a fact my custom is better quality than any meucci i own. the facts are what they are about meucci's recent history. an individual will prefer what they prefer and it doesn't make them stupid, in fact it may signal the sign of an educated consumer who has done thier share of shopping and trying.

From his autobiography, "Willie's Game." Page 42:

"Chicago was almost as cold as Minneapolis. I got there a few days before the tournament (a world championship, circa 1933) was scheduled to begin so I could acclimate myself to the surroundings. I also wanted to get a cue stick custom-made to my own specifications. Until then I had always used a stick from the rack in whatever room I was playing, just like any other customer would do. But all the professionals had their own cues. I knew that Greenleaf and Rudolph and some of the others had theirs made by Herman Rambow in Chicago so I went there to get one made up before the tournament began. Rambow worked for Brunswick; he had his shop in the basement of their office building. I had smaller hands than some of the other players, and Rambow cut the stick to fit me. It was fiffty-seven inches long and weighed about nineteen ounces. Rambow had it ready in time for me to use it in my warmup sessions."

OK, sorry for the interruption. Carry on.

Some lesser known MS cuemakers

Here in the deep south, Meucci is still king, especially the older ones. Hell, they're made next door in Mississippi. I get offers on mine all the time, but I don't need the money so I keep on using them.

There's these two other cuemakers in Mississippi you may never heard of, being from the deep south. Russ Espiritu makes a pretty nice cue, although not quite up to Meucci's standards. The other guy is Mike Erwin, who ran the Meucci shop up until 1999, roughly around the time that Meucci's quality took a nosedive.

well it's not saying much for someone saying the best guy in town can beat everyone else with a broom stick !! Have a nice summer vacation !
lol. Oh yea i forgot about the medici line of crap , made over sea's but i guess that stuff has just as great of quality control as meucci does , huh. As i posted earlier , im waiting for these pictures of this guys moochies ( meucci ) he has , he said he has some old one's to , by that if he meant a decent cue it would be a meucci original. And back then if ya remember he had factory seconds also. They had a ring cut around the butt of the cue. But that was in the 80's this guy probably was not born yet ! Where are these pictures ? And i want to see this broom stick fella !! How bout you all ???????

Ok first off all I did was make a small joke. At that point you began attacking me, and challenging me to matches with guys with broomsticks.

As far as not knowing what I'm talking about until I've tried a new black dot shaft, I have tried them and they suck too. Thats just Meucci trying to keep up with all the latest gimmicks.

"Dissing my joke" ROFL. Alrighty then. 'Nuff said.

You're from the "deep south"? Now I see why you made some comment in an earlier post regarding getting a girlfriend. You would never have to worry about finding one for yourself because you probably meet all your's at the family reunion.

While were on the topic of equipment.........

Here is my current player. The joint alone is worth more than any Muecci you can show me.
