OCD things you do when you play pool

Couple things....

Every time I break I have to clean the CB by rotating it in the bottom of my shirt. Then I put it against the rail and rotate it against the cushion a few times.

I also hateHATEHATE not having a clean ferrule. It started out white and that is the way I like it.

Because of this I tend to stroke the shaft up with a closed bridge after chalking but I don't think I do it every time.

I also HATE having my tip not perfect and I have the irrational fear that when a tip is not roughed up it will not take chalk as well or spin the ball as well. So I tend to shape it all the time. I usually go through a tip once every few months.

About the only thing that ever drives me crazy is when one of my shoes isn't tight enough. I kid you not, I will stop right in the middle of the match and put my cue on the floor and retie my laces. They have to be just right, and they both have to be the same tightness.

I lied, there's one other thing that bothers me. That's when you're not quite sure if you have to go to the bathroom or not. You know the drill - you where just in there but you sort of think you may need to go again, but you're not really sure. I know, being that I'm more than 3 years old I should be able to tell if I really have to go or not, but sometimes I get confused. I hate having this lingering doubt in my head before a match, so I usually just go again.

- Can't play with anything in my pocket. People are like "You idiot! Someone's gonna steal your wallet, what are you doing?!"
...and I did have one drunk guy walk off with my keys. But I can't have the damn things in my pocket.

- Can't stand more than 2 pieces of chalk on the table. It takes me out of my rhythm to have to
constantly play dodgedick with a million little chalk cubes when I'm getting down to shoot.

My buddy picked up on this... he'll bring three to the table. I'll throw one at him.
We both settle down and stop acting like children for a few minutes.
Then he'll sneakily add a piece to the rail while I'm focused on the balls.
One time he got up to six before I noticed. If it wasn't so funny I'd have had a mini-meltdown :)

I'm insanely OCD on the table.

I literally have to remove EVERYTHING from my pockets. If I have anything in my pockets I can't shoot straight for my life.

Even I know where I'm shooting my next shot, I walk the longer way around the table to set it up.

If I'm using the bridge, I flip it from its long side to the short side back to the long, if that's the side I'm using. If it's the short side I reverse the process.

When I'm looking at kick shots, I turn my wrap around in my hand like I'm trying to break down my playing cue into a jumper.

I have problems.

I totally get this- the shoelaces have to be the perfect, even tension- you can't expect to run out without firm shoe support.

I had a friend who would keep extra pairs of clean socks in the car, and would change socks between matches on long tournament marathon days for that fresh, ready-to-run-out feeling.

I move a piece of chalk above the 2nd diamond on both sides. Also can't stand when players leave chalk upside down so flip that shit over quickly.

There is a guy with OCD (outside of the pool table) that does the same thing with the chalk LOL.

I move the chalk right side up also, the other way gets chalk on the rails.

A lot of things on here are not so much odd, more of keeping distractions to a minimum.

Keeping your clothing in order (nothing in pockets, shoes on tight, sleves out of the way), making sure nothing is distracting vision (bugs,chalk,etc..), all just done to keep more focus on the shot.

I'm with you Dweller. For some reason I always have to go to the bathroom before even my league games. That's 1 game, not a set. No clue why. It's like I fear the one game is going to last 45 minutes or something! I blame my parents for always making sure I went to the bathroom before I did anything.

When I rack, playing One Pocket, I always place the eight ball in the last row, center position. I also wear black mesh underwear to the pool hall.

All of the above. Do I win?

Really what I do is there has to be only 3 chalks on the table. And if they are more then half worn down they get replaced. Also when standing I will hold my cue just above the joint and gently swing it against the outside of my right foot. And I will tell you that every cue has a different vibration to it.
And unlike Tramp Steamer my underwear can be any color but must have just the proper skid marks for me to shoot well.

After chalking I wipe the dust off the shaft going up and across the ferrule

I turn any upside down chalk right side up (like many others)

Move any chalk out of my shot line

And worst of all, I rotate my cue in my hand until It is in the right spot. Now that I shoot with an OB shaft, I will rotate the cue until the OB emblem is facing up, doing this while not looking at the joint. It's so bad I will flatten one side of my tip from hitting the same spot over and over.

Whenever I start a practice drill, no matter how bad I'm shooting that day and how frustrated I get, I have to finish it completely. I know the pool gods will punish me in terrible ways if I skip just one ball.

I always rack with the 1-ball in front...my first pool game was rotation.

Oh, and I wear boxer shorts, Tramp....in case someone fires an air-barrel.
