Official Score thread for the 2008 Breakup - Drivermaker Memorial Holiday Tournament

Dave,
Very strange holiday season for Betmore (no excuses, just an explanation to the Bud Bowl participants....the only real forum members that count).

I've been too busy with other pool activities the last 6 months; I'm afraid my wife will draw the line if I try to add any more.

I was asked a year ago by a prominent professional player to help them get their game back in shape. That includes a weekly practice session (12-16 hours), with daily practice sessions for a week before each tournament. Included are occasional road trips for gambling purposes.

Just before I began this program I committed to play in 2 bar table leagues. One of the teams is quite serious and talented (well...except for me), and we will be competing in the Vegas BCA Open teams, and we would very much like to do well. That is 2 nights a week away from home; you can see that I already am spending a lot of time away from home for pool related activities; to add more pool when I am home is not something my wife is likely to approve.

Since I was already committed to organize the AZB room; and had LOTS of travel plans for the holiday season (all of my children have grown and moved); and a brand new job just started in October (with all of the attendant headaches); I didn't feel I could accomplish all of the sessions to compete in the Bud Bowl this year (freaking terrible excuse I know). I very much hope to join the ranks of the really serious and courageous players next year (I'm giving serious thought to leaving the DCC AZB room organizing to someone else next year).

Best wishes and good luck to all of the players with gumption who have joined the fray this year.

I'll do it again this year, got a late start though.

I'll defend my title from last year.....

I checked a couple of times and didn't see the thread, only last years. I just now found the right thread and will start. I practice a lot, so I'll just change from nineball to q challenge during my practice sessions. It shouldn't take me long that way. I'll update this thread as I do it.

Jaden.

Ok I'm not starting out quite as good as last year.

The first ten rack session went like this. Thisis on a custom nine foot with four inch corners the equivalent to triple shimmed.

6,10,20,16,20,14,20,20,15= 151

Well now you have a whole year to come up with better excuses .... "too much pool" .... NO SUCH THING DUDE !

Hope all works out well with the plans, the job, and the wife Don. Ya likely woulda gotten stomped this year anyway .... so keep practicing, I know I need to :grinning-moose:

It's almost time to get rid of this stupid hat too.

Oh my goodness where is this mans priorities. This alleged mystery pro has to be the worst excuse to duck out of the bud bowl I've ever heard in my life.

Next year he'll be telling us he's too busy because he's busy working on modifying Stricklands behavior issues.

One more day to finish

There is one more day to finish. The DCC finishes tomorrow.

Everyone has finished their racks except for Jaden.

Once again I would like to correct the year for this tournament. Please for the original poster change the year to 2009 in your thread title. When we look back in the future there should be no confusion.

For reference the following years are below:

2005 2005 Summary

2006

2007 2007 Summary

2008 2008 Summary

2009: This thread

Jaden, could you let us know if you completed your sessions? I'd like to get this all wrapped up.

Also, if I've neglected to post anybodys scores could you let me know so I can get them up. I have a feeling the 0.25 club needs to change it's name.

Please add my scores to the first post. They are in post #11.

I vote we put in our signatures for the year:

"I'm the Xth best player on AZ for 2009" and put your finishing place where the X is.

Hey guys check out my new signature! Feel free to put the same on yours, with your ranking according to the first post in this thread. Its not in order yet, so you have to figure out what place you came in at.

I'm not sure, but I think you may want to qualify that. bragging your the 8th best on AZ might get you some action though.

Well, 9 of us did this tournament, and I got 8th place. So I feel justified in claiming I'm the 8th best player:) If someone gives me a hard time about it, I can point them to this tournament and say "you can do it and if you beat my score, then I'm the 9th best player."
