Oh, great, I get to play the gimp!

Noel is trying to get on the forum so she can give her side and also to just talk and answer any questions you might have...
For some reason it says her account does not exist so she is working on the problem, but she also works 8 hours everyday so be patient...

Very cool. I can't wait. Do you know what her forum name will be? I want to make sure I am there to greet her in her very first thread and give her a big AzBilliards welcome! :)

When you first register, it does take time for the webmaster to officially "recognize" new registrants. This has to happen first before new members can post for the first time. Let her know that.

Noelle

Noelle and I met last year at the BCA when we played against one another and have been dear friends ever since. She is a fierce sportswoman who works hard to better herself in all areas both inside and outside pool and is one of the most perceptive, loving, sincere, and intelligent people I have had the opportunity to know.

She has a wonderful invention that she showed me last year, and thank God, now owns the full rights to. After managing the AZB marketplace for the past couple years, I truly hope someone steps up to invest in Noelle's invention as I see a market for it. If anyone is interested please PM me and I will be happy to put you in touch with her.

I love you my friend and am so happy for your success and win!

Here is the truth...

Hello, first of all I would like to thank everyone for the kind and encouraging words. I would like tell you all what really happened. When I read the article in our local newspaper I couldn?t believe it. That was the first time I heard that whole B.S. story. The truth is that one of my ?friends? was there during my match. The lady I was playing was unfriendly, perhaps even a little snooty. I ended up winning that match. My ?friend? said ?now she can go back and tell everyone she was beaten by a G*mp?. Stupid joke, but it didn?t really bother me at the time. I don?t know how it got turned into all of this mess. I was angry when the article came out. So I contacted this person. Now the whole story has changed again. Now she says that it wasn?t the girl I played, but her friend. There was no incident to speak of. Even if it had happened I still do not think the article should have been written that way. How many times can you fit the word ?Gimp? into a story?! I also talked about the thriving pool seen in Modesto. We have 2 leagues and tournaments almost every night. I told him about my unrelenting practice. Or that I had to stroll to the pool room late nights to do so. About the thousands of pool players that flock to the Riviera every year to compete. Not to mention that my hard work is just beginning because I now have to get ready for the Masters. Where was all of that in the story? That was the story that I was hoping to see. Not about all of this other crap. I do not feel like the story did Our Sport or me any good.

On a side note, I had a great time in Vegas. I look forward to going and playing as I do every year. I was thrilled, nervous and honored to play Mary Rakin. She is a great sport and a true champion.

Thanks for coming on here Noel. It's quite an accomplishment winning an Open Division at the BCA Nationals. Do you have any idea how many players have been trying to do that unsuccessfully for years and years (me included)? Sounds to me like you are on your way UP!

P.S. Forget about the story. Oftentimes reporters will look for ways to sensationalize things. You will have many more stories to tell I'm sure. You can always write a Letter To The Editor (Sports Editor) of the newspaper, with the necessary corrections. That should and probably would get published.

Noel, welcome to AzBilliards! Wow, it is so great to see you posting here on the forum! :)

Jay Helfert is right about the media. Man, do they get things screwed up sometimes. Look at what happened to Bush versus Gore election in Florida. Things could have been quite different if the media had waited until all the votes were counted before they released the false reports with no backing.

The important thing, though, Noel, is that you are here on this forum hanging out with other pool folk who admire your dedication to the sport.

Congratulations on winning that event in Vegas. You must still be on Cloud Nine after that victory. That Hustlin' USA Clothing guy is pretty cool, isn't he? Every tournament I go to, his booth seems to be the most popular. I love his stuff!

So where do you play in Modesto? I read that you do work a job. So how many hours do you play a week in order to keep up your skills? What stick do you shoot with? How much does it weigh? What kind of tips do you like? AND have you ever played on the East Coast?

I know I'm hitting you with a bunch of questions. Thanks again for posting! I look forward to your participation on the forum! :)

You are right, I have been on cloud nine. Till I read the article and the clouds got dark and the thunder started. On the bright side I have met a lot of people. Many of my friends from here have really had my back on this one. Art, Marc and long list of others. It is amazing.

I practice the majority of the time at Diamond Billiards in Modesto. It is near my place, and they have seven foot diamonds that you can check out by the hour. I play with a Russ Espiritu LE 116. It weighs 18.9 oz and I only play with triangle tips. I just have a plain old J&J jump break. What kind of cue and equiptment do you play with?

I think you posting here merits a cooler thread! :)
