OK, OK...I'll say it and take the heat!

I don't think this is a strange question...

I see one of three things:

1. mulitple shirts (not sure about the shorts)
2. lucky shirt after 7 pack first day. (superstition)
3. dry cleaned clothes in hotel.

4. Never went to sleep . Buffet and craps tables kept him busy!

Perfect!

He's just dressing for success!
He's found the perfect shirt...
To go with the perfect shorts...
And it all ties into the PERFECT pool game!
Seems like a WINNER to me, I can dig it man!

Unfortunately, I'm still lookin' for my OWN perfect shirt...
and perfect shorts...
AAAANNNNDDDD perfect pool game!
Damn it man, he's got the one-up on us all!
Screw it, I'm done workin' on my game, I'm goin' shoppin'!

Shane's game must be almost perfect now if people are commenting on his clothes after a match. Do you guys REALLY care what another guy is wearing, and how often he wears it???? Since when do guys have to abide by the fashion police and wear a different pair of pants every day??

I'm glad to read that you guys are finally taking an interest in the fashion statement that Shane is making. ;)

IMO, Shane needs to upgrade his wardrobe from sneakers, t-shirts, shorts and blue jeans, to something more professional. If Shane were to wear polo shirts, dress slacks and casual loafers, his personal image and marketability would jump tremendously.

There is an indirect relationship between motivation to be stylish and pool playing ability. And I say that in all seriousness.

To me it makes no difference what he wears really,at least he's not running 7-packs in a loud-ass Ed Hardy or Coogi shirt,or Under Armour 2 sizes too small and girly flip-flops :p. Tommy D.

Yeah, because he's had such a tough time marketing himself. He probably has the best cue endorsement deal out there, along with other sponsors. Anytime he wants to gamble for any amount, all he has to do is make a phone call. These sponsors and backers aren't concerned if he wears a black t-shirt three days in a row (which was for I'm sure, the purposes of comfort during 30+ hours of pool playing.) They are happy that he dominates every event he plays in, and they hope that they are afforded the opportunity for him to represent their product, and/or play hard for their money.

There are plenty of jokers in pro tournaments dressed in "slacks and loafers" and not getting sponsorships. Dude this isn't 1987 when Mike Sigel was dominating the 9 ball tour. This is 2011. Styles and trends have changed. I have an even better suggestion. If "slacks and loafers" are going to give Shane the career boost you think he needs, just go the extra mile and recommend a tuxedo.

Hilarious. The key to successfully marketing yourself is to wear "Polo shirts, dress slacks, and casual loafers." Hey, while we're making fashion critiques. I've noticed that Justin, who does all of the work for TAR wears mostly T-shirts, shorts, and sneakers. Maybe if he wore more Dress slacks, TAR could gain a little more respect and improved market share in the industry. Come on...

You guys are taking the op's post WAY too seriously lol. Lighten up! Nothing wrong with some comic relief. If this was Earl you would have made fun of his ear muffs.

Good one neil, I mean Good Lord, if it helps get him where he is, most shouldn't change for the next 10 years!!

I miss the good old days:

Styles and trends have indeed changed over the years -- for the worse. In case you haven't noticed, pool has a real image problem. One of the ways that we can overcome this is to be more professional in how we present ourselves to the public.

While I'm not saying that pool players should wear tuxedos, I am saying that if they are going to be in the public spotlight, they should try to look professional and wear business casual attire.

Since you brought up Justin, since he's also in the public spotlight I also think that he could enhance his own professional image and the image of our sport by dressing up more too. Having Justin wear a polo shirt instead of a t-shirt while on camera would be a good start.

I would guess he has several of the same shirts. When I find something that I like and think it looks ok on me, I'll buy a few of the same thing.

I am very particular about the clothes that I wear when I compete. They have to be comfortable and if I ever cash in a tournament with them on, you are sure to see me wear them again in the future. And I often buy duplicate sets of clothing because I like how they fit, how they keep me dry, how they feel and how they make me feel.

I HATE, yes there are some things I hate; shirts that don't stay in my waist band of my trousers. I don't like to show a plumber's sideway smile when I am playing pool. Same goes for shoes. I love comfortable shoes when playing pool and will risk the ire of the tournament director & promoters to play in my New Balance MW927BK shoes. I've just discovered that New Balance has come out with shoelaces that stay tied better than traditional athletic shoelaces and they are called Bubble Laces or Sure-Lace. Got a pair on order yesterday.

I think Inside English was just putting a little swerve on his thread. He got some good responses but don't take it so seriously. He's pulling our chain far more than he's pulling Shane's.

I like the responses, all of them. It just goes to show that everyone has different perspectives and how some of us can take things too seriously.

Shane is his own man and doesn't need anyone defending his right to wear the same clothing or same-looking clothing when he plays. That's one of the things that I like about Shane. He doesn't wear clothes to satisfy the masses and he doesn't try to impress anyone and let's his pool game do the talking.

Is that what they did in Texas Hold'em craze?
I think SVB dress style will appeal to a lot more young people and a lot more people thinking that pool/billiards is for everyone and not just the elite!
In other words I think he will market more in what he wears currently than trying to dress like a car salesman.

I don't know if you have noticed, but most professional sports players don't exactly dress professional while they are playing their sport. They do dress professional for interviews and other times, but not while playing their sport.

I think for pool, and long tournaments you should wear comfortable clothing and as joey stated some shoes you can stand in for a long time.
I made the mistake at my first big tourney to wear my lace up cowboy boots. By the end of the tourney I didn't give a dang about playing anymore cause my feet were killing me. Needless to say I don't do that anymore.

I also don't know if you noticed but some of the biggest churches in America are successful now because they let people come dressed as they are. People don't put on their Sunday best anymore to try and impress the other church members. I think society is becoming more like that. Even Presidents have been shown more and more in clothes that are not penguin suites.

I don't know about you, but when I go to buy something like a house or a car I get turned off when they drive up in a Ferrari and a tuxedo and want my money. Give me the good ol boy in jeans and that tells me the truth and I am more prone to spend my money.

Sure a lot of players play in slacks and polos, but does that mean they are more professional? I have seen many of them be very unprofessional. There is an old saying you can dress a pig up in a tuxedo, but it's still a pig!

What real benefit does SVB get from dressing up? When was the last time you seen a pro sports player on a Wheetie's box with a suit and tie on?

Maybe the problem with our sport is that we don't have a more casual and inviting look?

Maybe we need a uniform?

Basketball has those long shorts and tank tops.
Baseball has caps and those ugly pants.
Football has helmets and pads.
Swimming has speedos.
Biking has those goofy helmets and nut hugging shorts.
Hockey has helmets pads and skates.
Tennis has Tennis shoes and lightweight clothing.
Maybe we need a special clothing to get recognition? A polo and slacks! mmmmmmm idk about that.

What about orthopedic shoes, sweat pants, tank top, and backwards cap? LOL

I disagree. Just like poker, pool is about great and interesting characteers. Stiffening them up with whatever wardrobe suggestions you're thinking of is certainly not the answer. They aren't attorneys or insurance salesman. They are men of action. Warriors on the green felt. We want them to look cool - and have some character, like they do. Poker is successful because on tv we can see their cards, so we feel like we're IN the game. Pool is just as exciting as poker. When television can figure out a way to make the common man feel like he is IN the pool game, you'll have something. Dress slacks and polo shirts aren't going to change a thing.
