Old Szamboti Cue Video

Really cool! Having talked to Gus & never met him in person. Sure wish I would have kept a few. Ordered my 1st in 1973.
 
I wish this would have been posted in the cuemakers forum. It would have created some talk about his point blanks method I am sure. Thanks for sharing this with us.

A thread was started in July whereas a link posted to this video - uploaded to a different site.
Unfortunately my PC reported SICK a few days ago and all the stuff had to be reinstalled so I had to search back for this link but here it is:

Thanks Jeff for sharing this video..... Anyone who knows which cuemaker has the latest or the most innovative cuemaking style... or atleast know how top cues like SW, JW, Bluegrass, Gina,TAD, Searing, Sugartree .... and the list goes on... how these cues are made.

I suggest that you should check out Bob Dzuricky's site, he has got some great videos and also very informative texts regarding cuemaking processes! Here's the main page, and here are the videos! On the main page there's a column on the far right called "Cue Building Hints" you may find some very valuable information there!
 
Thanks for posting this video! This was the first time I had ever seen Gus in a video or even heard his voice.

On a side note: I want to buy that cue!!!

I dunno :confused: $950 might be a bit much for it, its old now....dont forget that. Be careful out there with your $$$.
 
O.K.,All my life I have been pronouncing his name with a long "O".Have I been wrong and the ABC announcer right?

Did you see the orginal bradcast?

For those who may care: It was the 1979(?)
PPPA World Straight Pool Tournament in New York City. I don't recall
their covering of the Tournament itself. This was just a 'filler' piece
shot in the practice room.

I asked the producer, a youngish woman, if she had any idea when
it would be aired.

"No way to tell" she replied.

"you mean when someone gets knocked out 2 min and 37 seconds
into the second round?"

"You got it"<as people said in those days>.

Again, if I have my years straight -Miz ran 150 against Grady in the
semis. The finals, Miz vs Danny D. were taped, but IIRC, by ESPN.

Dale,

I was not there nor do I remember seeing on TV, I was just very happy to finally see it and I remember reading your lines about what the producer had said. I had actually contacted ABC to try and get a copy of it and that never happened.

There is/was a Szamboti Collector in Chicago that I had found had the full thing on VHS Video tape and I had emailed him about getting a copy and for one reason or another I never got it, can't remember what happened as it was a few years ago and I no longer have the emails.
