Ran across an old Texas saying today that reminded me of some AZ'rs out there. THIS IS NOT MEANT TO OFFEND ANYONE. Some of my friends are collectors and not shooters and I'm barely a shooter and can't afford to be a collector.

The old saying was: "ALL HAT AND NO CATTLE"

I think we can come up with something similar related to pool. My offering would be: "ALL CUE AND NO CLUE"

If you have an idea post it. Maybe we can come up with something classic.

That's a good saying ;)

Someone (I can't remember who) has a signature line that says something like "My mouth is writing checks that my stroke can't cash" .. that's a favorite of mine

Many years ago, way back in the 60's after The Hustler came out, pool was full of guys I called "pool imposters". They looked the part, with a fancy case and two piece cue, alligator shoes and slick clothes, but they couldn't really play the game. It was all flash!

I would sometime encounter these imposters posing in pool halls and talking shit. One way I had a chance to get them down was to embarrass them into playing, which is not what they really wanted to do. I used to tell a guy he was "all talk and no action". Sometimes that would make them mad enough to actually uncork their cue and play. They might play a few games, lose a little and then find an excuse to quit.

"I don't want to waste my time with you." or "I can find a better game somewhere else." or maybe "I don't want to show my true speed now and ruin all my action." They would get pretty creative about why they didn't want to play me anymore. Believe me these guys were really around in the 60's. They didn't last long and wouldn't lose much. But hey, twenty bucks was twenty bucks back then.

I can't believe someone would actually quote TopGun and pass it off as his own.:D

When you are done talking it up, start chalking it up. Let's play!

Stop the yakking and commence to racking. :D

way back in high school we used to say "all show and no go" when talking about someone's truck all duded up but without enough power to getout of its own way.

I use to have a boss that would say, "I see a lot of chickens in here, but nobody's laying any eggs!"

Sometimes he'd mix it up and say, "I hear a lot of clucking, but nobody's laying any eggs!"
