Is it Grady? No offence to him of-course, just curious. I met him in a Joss tour long ago, he was great, friendly and very chatty. I felt like I knew him for years after just a few minutes. He sure knows how to relate to people and get on their good side.

I don't mean to include your uncle Jim who is 92 and can still shot, but the old timers that were great in the game years ago. I don't mind if you list a few of the almost oldest as well, any sightings and game stories are welcome.

Another nice thing about pool, you don't need to be 6'3" and shoot steroids to do well in the sport for years and years.

Hal Houle is ancient.

Mike LeBron is probably one of the oldest active players - I think he's close to 74 or 75 years old now.

Mike LeBron will be 74 on March 31.

Marshall "Squirrel" Carpenter is 80
Bob Vanover is 75 already!
Ray Martin is 73
Ronnie Allen is 70

As a sidenote, I feel more & more like Blackjack's description of Hal Houle.
I hope I can still play IF I see 70.

T.F Whittington is 3 days older than dirt and two days younger than water. I heard he used to play cards with Robert E. Lee back when he was a private during the Civil War.

there is a guy who lives around Paducah,Ky named Mutt Mcdermond(i think) who has to be 80 years old, i play between b and b+ speed and i cant touch him (GUNMAN)

I've heard a lot of funny descriptions, but that's a new one for me. I keep a notebook in which I write down funny things people say so I can remember them. This will be archived for posterity!

Blackjack, I hope you don't mind me stealing this line. I got a friend from church who is 88 and looks like he's 108. He likes and encourages humor, in fact, he "punches" me in the chest after services because he says it makes him feel good when he hits me and can get away with it. I'm going to lay this gem of yours on him. I just hope when he starts laughing, his ticker holds up!:D
 
Mr Whittington is definitely a solid senior citizen, and he still can hold his own in just about any tournament. Not to mention, he is a true gentleman in every sense of the word.

I agree with Flex. It has to be George Rood. I hear that he still plays every week at Airway Billiards in Dayton. OldRoller posts here, and plays there too. He can probably verify it!

I have a player on my league team, Al Adame, who is 95 years old. He's still a competitive player despite his age. He has a girlfriend, he goes out dancing every week, and he is our local pool hero. He is the oldest active member of the Golden Gloves boxing association and a former boxer. He can't drive any more and I pick him up each week for league night and help to keep him active and engaged. One of the greatest pleasures of league play, for me, is to see Al match up with some cocky 21 year old who is new to competitive pool, and then watch that youngster get humbled when his a** gets kicked by an old man who approaches the table initially with a cane. He's not as strong as he once was, and he has a low handicap now as a 3, but occasionally he has flashes of his former brilliance and can still run a rack. Even when his shot making is not at its best, he still plays smart and will absolutely kill you with his safety play. Everyone respects him not only for his age but also for his attitude and the fact that you had better not take him for granted or you may get burned. Many of our lower handicaps and even some higher handicaps HATE to have to play him. He is one of a kind and I am proud to say that he is my friend. Most of my team mates are in their late 40s to 50's and we are all children by comparison, literally the age of some of his grandchildren. He is truly an inspiration because of his love for the game and his love of people. I wish you all had an opportunity to meet and know this wonderful man because of what he has to teach about the love of life and the love of pool for pool's sake.
 
I have someone similar in my poolroom. His name is orville and he turned 93 not too long ago. Still golfs weather permitting and bowls once or twice a week. His favorite game is banks especially 1 in the side off the end rail:) . I would love to be 93 and still bankin on!

i hadnt seen Master Ito for over 15 years and when I saw him in Reno this past Dec, he didnt look like he aged a day, honest to God, it was amazing. Ted is a great guy, I have awalys respected him.

Mailman(Gabe) in Vegas is 71 and plays strong, real strong 1P,

Sounds like a great guy, most of us just hope we can poop on our own when 95 much less shoot a game :) There is an older gentleman, not close to 90s but past retirement age, who has a super attidude and I'm always glad to see him walk in. He lost a leg a while back, and there is a picture hanging in the pool hall of him holding a sign that reads "Will Work For Foot". I have met very few people that have such a nice possitive outlook on things.
