But would you attempt it in the latter stages of the DCC?

Things always look different "from the booth", but I think many top players would have made a more conservative move...

Does anyone know which specific match this is from? I'm going to have to get the DVD.

This is the finals of the 2006 DCC(Jason Miller). There are two matches on this video, cause this one did not last very long. Efren plays Alex P. in the semis.

Are you kidding me? That's THE SHOT of the tournament! And in the Finals no less. Everyone was talking about this shot after the match, including the commentators.

With the object ball, he knew where the cue ball was going. So it's not that risky to shoot the shot. Even if he didn't make the shot, he's still got his opponent on the right side of the stack

Nope! if he missed that cut, the brown 7 is on for a bank and a possible sellout. look where the CB landed. the most difficult shot to execute there was to kill the CB after hitting the 2nd rail (top side).

I am in agreement. It would have been a lot more impressive to me if I wasn't shooting one or two of those every hundred ball straight pool match.:) :)

I am not as impressed if it's something I can do. Having said all of that, Efren is one of my hero's.

P.S. - remember you have an open invitation to Betmore's Basement. As DCC approaches, perhaps you would like some warm-up on the big table (my ball-racking skills are excellent).
 
I've got that dvd and it in as good as it gets. He makes some other shots as good or better than that. In the final game vs Pagulayan he draws the cue ball two rails and bumps into a ball and moves it about 4 inches to open up a shot and complete the runout. At least Pagulayan won a game against him. Miller never even made a ball.

I've got DC'07 one pocket in the mail now from accustats, looking forward to getting it.
 
hehe It's a great shot but like everyone else said its not that hard to make..now making it and gettin as good of shape as he did now only few here are capable of that but its not nailbiter.....

but the great part about that shot wasnt that he pocketed the 10. its that he completely killed the ball with extreme english to get perfect position on the next shot. making the 10 is not impossibly hard, but positioning the cue ball after was the hardest part. then u throw in all the stuff with throw and deflection due to the extreme english he put on that shot and it makes the shot a lot harder.
 
i have that match and the one before it when he played alex pagulayan he went 8 and out almost 6 games in a row

ROFL... it wasnt so much as the shot was hard, it was the precise position he played with it.

It was a phenomenal shot and a damn HARD shot, especially at that part of the tournament.
 
Efrin is a fantastic player. IMO more relaxed and able more of the time than any player alive. I think he may be the best or one of the best ever.

With that said, I also think Bill made that shot to be much more than it was.

I agree that camera angles tend to make cut shots look a little tougher on film. HEY not that that one wasn't very close to a 90 degree shot.

Also, lots of players favor inside english on very thin cuts just because it puts their tip closer to the contact point. So killing the ball was a natural result of what may have been a more comfortable way for Efrin to make that cut.

Great shot, but even BETTER speed control. One nice thing about those shots, its pretty tough to over cut em. :)
 
Once again, it was a helluva shot and Efren made it look easy. He has a way of doing that. Most players would never have shot it! He had other options you know. Like bank the two balls away (moving balls to his side) and duck behind the ball on the rail. He shot an unconventional shot and hit it PERF!

I believe some guys here were focused on that 10ball. the cut shot on the 10 was not that extremely difficult or impossible to make. however, it was not what the spectators and the commentators were refering at as the mindboggling shot. it was that killed shot on the CB after hitting the 2nd rail. if some of you guys were able to accomplish that same shot with the same result and precise position of the CB where it landed in one try, then you can say that it's not that difficult to accomplish. again, the point here is killing the CB after hitting the 2nd rail. don't be misled by that 10 ball.
 
Was he really going for the leave on the seven? I would have thought he would have been trying to get the cue ball a little closer to the bottom rail for the one or for position if he missed. I don't see the sellout, but that doen't mean I'm right either. :D If the ten didn't drop, it's still going to be in the jaws and if the cueball rolled down near the bottom rail, either way he was going to be in pretty good shape? Yes? No? What did I miss?
