On The Road Again with Perfect Aim....

Gene,
Perhaps the cyst made you virtually intolerable to smoke. If this is the case, perhaps we will see you at one of the SMOKING TOURNAMENTS in the future.

Don't rush your recovery, regardless.

Glad to hear your energy is back.

I'm thinkin we need to put a little Rhythm in it. Just kidding...

Today was kind of tough. I want to go, go ,and go some more but the go for now has just went up and gone.

I need to heal. I guess there are allot of stitches inside my neck also. The cut on my neck is about 8 inches across. it's going to take a few weeks for sure. Doc also took out some bone or the cyst would just grow back.

I did a phone lesson today with jerry from Tennessee and it really wore out my throat. Had to ice it down and just lay there. yesterday I did a full lesson. that was too soon.

I do have a big surprise I hope for the players I match up against. Especially the ones that bet a little higher.

I can't wait to play a little bit with my sparing partner at Brickyard, I think you know who that is, and show him the big improvement with the energy. Before I always had to worry about running out of gas. I had this infection in my throat for a long time.I'm talking years.

Many people have these cysts, some cancerous and some non. Mine was non but it still caused chronic infection constantly in the ears and sinuses. In 1986 I had sinus surgery and ear surgery. The reasons for the infections all the time was this darn cyst. Not as big as it was at the end here but caused allot of problems just the same.

In fact I could hardly turn my neck to the right at all any more. Eyes would burn and my tongue would burn. When it got as big as a tennis ball towards the end it felt like it was grinding on the throat with every turn of the neck.

I don't know exactly how I'm going to feel after I'm healed but the Doctor asked me what I wanted to do with the rest of my life kind of jokingly. He knew how much trouble this was causing.

First I need to heal and then I need to excersize. This might take a couple of months but I know it will be well worth the effort.

I'll be posting updates here for sure. Indy is right in my way so it will be a stop for sure.

Great poolhall, great owners and a super nice group of guys to play with and hang out wit.

Just when I was starting to think my pool days were numbered it seems like it will just get better.

Need to get some power rest right now.

Thanks again Danny. see ya for sure in the near future. 2 to 3 months from now. Can't wait..........

Only one time to find out..........

With everything infected already I'm sure your right Joey.

Going into the smoke for me was like trying to put a fire out with gasoline.

And it felt like it also.

I'd be in a place with smoke and the second day I wanted out so bad I didn't even care if I made a ball. I just wanted out.

I'm still going to stay out of that smoke. No sense compromising my health.

the Doc knew how terrible this has been. He asked me what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.

You already know what I told him :rolleyes:

Yeah, you gave him your phone number and told him to be near a table when he called. J/K

Just realized something last night.....

I can actually turn my neck with so much less pain than before. I think this is going to get even better.

if it does this will be so sweet.

Playing and teaching. This is going to get real fun in the near future.

Now it will me easier to transform from conventional living to living in the motorhome on the road.

I got about 3 weeks to get this figured out into a system but once I get the routine down I'm really getting excited about getting going again....

I got my fight, my life and my game face back on.

Look out pool world. Here I come...........soon.........

I'm excited......:happydance::happydance::happydance:

Taking first trip with the Motorhome today......

I set up and slept in it last night. It got pretty cold, about 66 and I didn't have the furnace going yet. Got the fridge working on the LP gas, works great.

Now I need to fill up the white water tank and get the hot water heater working.

It's kind of like setting up a little house.

JJ's by Luck, Wi is about a 1 1/2 hour drive. It will be nice to have the motorhome there so I can rest between matches. I still get pretty tired from the surgery.

After this tourney I plan on spending about 2 weeks to get my physical groove on. The neck surgery really took a toll on my health energy. I know that what I need is some good food and some good solid exercise.

No matter what happens at JJ's I consider it a success.

Up up and away..............;)

Geno - any peeks or little teaser pics of your new home wheels and life on the road throughout your travels would no doubt be welcomed by all on the forum following your posts and passion - personally I think you are doing an incredible thing. Dare I say LEGACY-worthy. Bravo!

I am just under 6 feet tall, about 21" wide but am slightly thick around the mid section with a 36" waist and weigh right at 88 Kilograms, but I don't need much room to sleep and carry my own water.:lol:

hey Gene thanks for spending a little time with me at JJ's in Luck Wi., I can't believe that in 5 minutes you helped me realize that what i thought was my dominant eye wasn't. I am soon to be 60 and this old dog is still learning!

Thanks again;
Don

Joey,

At our age people are more concerned about can we hold our water! :D

Glad I went to the tourny this weekend..........

The ring rust really showed. And it showed up with me not being able to handle distractions.

I'm playing for the hill and a bunch of guys, about 5, that had been knocked out of the tourney started a $1 and $2 ring 10 ball game on the table next to ours. There really isn't enough room there unless they would play on a table at the far end of the room.

Playing Billy in the match, I missed about 3 balls in 3 different games and started to realize how weak my anti distraction shield was after not playing much for a month or 2.

By then it was too late. Billy had built up a lead already.

After the score was 4-1 I asked Billy if he minded switching table to the far one. He had no problem with that because the ring game was bothering him to a certain extent also.

Then I went to play the new guy in the area from Florida and the first thing he said to me is are you going to want to move to another table, maybe the door will bother you. I played right into it and blew a rod telling him not to ----- with me.

It's hill hill with this guy and I can't win the game with 2 balls in hand. he has only one ball and the 8 ball left.

The ring game should never have been there when we're playing for maybe $1000 on the table next to it. The players didn't realize how loud they were and everytime the game was all over they all went to the table, paid their money and made loud comments about what had happened. they were just having fun. Plus the occasional player in the way when we had to shoot a shot. Wait for them to shoot. Not to say the loud comments when some of them missed a shot. It was a real circus act to say the least.

bottom line though is I need to play to thicken up my skin. Things like this are going to happen. But if your not playing enough your focus just isn't strong enough to pull you through.

I have allot of work to do especially in the exercise department. Going to the Beloit tourney might even be pushing it. I'm definitely not there mentally or physically at all.

I am more determined than ever now to get my game face on.

This is how we get ready. Go somewhere and find out how not ready we're not under fire and crazy circumstances.

Got allot of work to do starting today.

Today is the rest of my pool life and I need to do everything I can to get prepared.

Plus the better shape I'm in the better I can teach and have the enthusiasm to teach what I know is the most important thing a player can ever learn.

Perfect Aim. And I will keep making noise about this and keep helping players play the best pool of their life until I'm gone.

I can't think of anything I'd rather do.

Going to work starting today........

Got moved and set up with the motorhome.

I know I need to get my strength back. Exercise and rest is the only way I know how.
I have a Body Solid Multi-station system that I am setting up where I'm at. I need to work on this until I feel strong.

Players have to have strength and endurance no matter what age your at but at 61 it takes a little longer I'm seeing. No just jumping back on the truck right away.

Beloit still looks possible, tough field with allot of good players and the chances of winning are tough for all players there. I just want to shoot like I can and let the rolls sort themselves out. No sell outs. .

Looks like the diabetes is really getting under control since the thyroid surgery. Plus, once the swelling is totally gone from my throat I might not need a machine to help me breath at night, sleep apnea. My setting on the machine is real low. Very uncommon for anyone with sleep apnea. That would be so cool not to have TO WEAR all that stuff on my face at night.

So my on the road dates are going to have to wait. But still planned.

Great tournaments like the one at the Carom room in August give all of us players reasons to play and get better. From the bottom to the top.

Can I bounce back and play some good pool again, only time will tell.

I'm hoping so.......

I'll also be putting some pictures of the Perfect Aim Motorhome as soon as I figure out my new camera. Supposed to make things easier but seems harder.

I just need a Perfect camera lesson.

I'll be going to Beloit regardless. It will show me where I'm at..

See ya all there...............

One step closer. An inch at a time............

Played in a couple of local tournys this weekend. Won them both but with short races it didn't have to turn out that way.

9 ball on Friday night and then 8 ball on sat. Calcutta for both of them.

The important part wasn't winning them but the fact that i had energy Friday and all day sat and all night was amazing.

For the last 10 tears I wouldn't even think of playing Friday and then get up early and play on sat. Had no chance mentally or physically.

After the surgery with this infection gone I have energy to spare. i start workig out Monday with a personal trainer. Can't wait. Can't wait for the body to respond.

Can't wait to see what it will do for my pool game but i already know the answer to that, but life i general will be so much more fun.

And when i go to a pool hall to teach they will be thinking I'm the Energizer bunny.

Can't hardly wait. Really excited..........

GO GO Geno.... Bout time you got a few good rolls..... Just don't go overdoing it and end up hurting something else.... You aren't 60 anymore ya know

You're so right there for sure......

I've had surgeries on my right knee. The last one was in 1996 ad they took the whole miniscus out in little pieces, Told me i would need a new knee in 5 years. I've been limping on this for about 5 years.

With my new routine i'm sure this is not going to hold up. In fact after the last 5 days I'm sure it won't. I see the doc on Wed to see about a new knee. The other one is messed up also but the right is toast for sure.

Knees today are replaced and recovery is pretty quick. Pretty sure this will get done.

But Chris you are so right, all joking aside.

Wish it could have been longer......

Next time. I could see that you understood what I was showing you. Once you apply it you will see a huge improvement in your pocketing skills.

Jim's got a pretty nice place up there in Luck, Wi. It totally blew me away to see a slice of pool heaven in the middle of where you wouldn't have suspected.

Good Luck there Don and don't hesitate to call me if you have any questions.

Thanks again......

Feeling pretty good except............

Woke up today and the right knee was the size of a small basketball.

Not surprising considering the whole muniscus was taken out 17 years ago. Was told then that I would need a new knee within 5 years,

Went to Marshfield clinic and they sucked out a bucket of fluid. Usually when I have it drained it's only about 20 to 30 CC's.

They Checked with my insurance to see if they would approve a shot of this gel stuff. It's made from chicken fat. Called sindvisk or something like that.

I need a new knee but hopefully this will help me buy some time. It was approved. great insurance for sure. Obama is my hero for sure right now.

They are doing an MRI on the left knee on Friday. It has allot of fluid also but probably only about 20 cc's. I smashed it falling in Birmingham, Alabama while on the road teaching. It appears that the muniscus is torn in the middle. It's been catching for about 3 years now but I get by with the ice. And being careful how i walk.

If this doesn't work for the right knee the new knee will hold me back for about 6 weeks for sure. Probably take a month to get scheduled though.

The upside will be that i will be able to do some more lessons here in my home area and a few videos for download.

I'm starting to see why many players my age slow down with their playing.

I don't plan on slowing down but just patch up and get at it again. There's allot of players that need to know what i teach yet. I have so much work to do.

The throat is really healing up well. My whole body has changed with this infection gone for good. Energy is off the charts.

Won 2 tournaments this last weekend 8 ball and ball. Not the biggest but made about $800 and I had energy all the way through.

Right now I literally don't have a leg to stand on but I'm used to that. Once you get down on the shot the bridge hand helps to make things solid. Takes some of the weight off the legs.

Hopefully they can just give me another shot in the left knee Friday. Hoping for the best.

Still going to play in a local tourny here on Friday and sat.

Other than the knees i feel great.

Just another bump in the road.

Just need to take care of business and then i can take care of business.

On the road again............;)

Gene,

re your knee surgery: It will take more than 6 weeks to recover and the first 2 of those will be so hellish that you should probably schedule the first week to be done in a recovery unit, a nursing home type of place. My advice, based on others our age who have just done this, is to DO NOT GO IT ALONE for the first week after surgery. Schedule total care for yourself for the first couple of weeks....at least!

fwiw,

Jeff Livingston

Got lucky so far...........

They did one of those gel shots in the right knee.

It feels pretty good today. No fluid or not much.

Tomorrow I get an MRI on the left.

This gel works pretty good but without insurance it's about $1200 a pop.

Thankful for our national health care plans.

One day at a time and see if they can put me back in the box.

Getting excited.

Feeling better everyday. Today was great.............

Had a great weekend...........

Played some pool in Janets Tour in Wisconsin. Tough to win because it is only a race to to 3 8 ball.

Lost my first match. Nothing i could do. Played Chris from Milwaukee, He broke and ran the first match. I broke and miscued while running out an easy rack. Down 2-0 i brought it back to 2-2 only to have Chris break and run the last rack.

Got all the way back in the losers to play Scott Dulian, my practice partner in Eau Claire for 2nd and 3rd. He broke and ran the first rack.

I broke the second rack dry. Scott missed a shot leaving the simple rack to run out. My first shot I shot the ball fairly soft to the side only to see it curve almost inches to the right. Didn't even hit the tit. It looked like a shot where you use one of those trick cue balls that go where they wanted to. I could have hit it harder but who would have thunk. it would go that crazy crooked.

Scott shot well. But he dogged that shot in the second game that should have made it 1-1 without the bad roll for me on the 3 ball.

Kim Steigal and Scott dulin battled it out for the final. Kim beat Scott for the win.

After the tourny i got some $100 a rack nine ball action.

The MO on me forever is i ca't play all day and then play strong later on.

I didn't miss a ball. Lost the first game and won the next 4. My opponent quit.

Win $300 but the good news is I could still play. I still felt strong.

This is one of the biggest problems with me in the past. towards the end of any tourny i would just hit a wall. I was done. Now with this tennis ball size Cyst taken out of my throat I can function for allot longer. Vision stays good and so does the energy. And I had this thing for years.

Did a 10 mile bike ride yesterday and then played some pool last night. I was finally exhausted. Slept 12 hours. But I need to keep exercising to build up my body again.

Got to go. More bike riding to do.

Good things happening with the body. Pretty excited.

Hopefully this 61 year old man can do some damage in Beloit.

Can't wait.............see ya all there........;)
