On The Road Again with Perfect Aim....

It's been 6 days and still pretty tender.......

I don't get the stitches out until the 10th of Sept.

I'm going to do 3 lessons this week. Or should I say this weekend. I can always lean on the table if have trouble. It isn't like I'm playing all the time.

I can see this is going to be a process to get all the strength back. I need to get it back and make it stronger than before.

I also will set up the actual date for the new knee on the 10th when I get out the stitches.

Doing a pretty good job of not gaining weight. I work out with light weights about 3 times a day.

Hit a few balls. I never realized how bad my balance was with these knees being so bad. Can't wait to get that solid foundation under me.

I'm in Eau Claire right now and will be for a few months. I'm still doing free phone lessons for players. Anyone that missed out feel free to call. It's free.

Just trying to help. 715-563-8712 Later in the afternoon.

Miss the action but it's good we have the internet.

Getting pumped.......

Played for about 4 hours tonight. Had to take a pain med but played pretty good.

balance is so important. I feel like before I was like a teeter toter from side to side.

New knee in about a month they say.

Going to play in a tourney tomorrow night.

If all goes well i'll play in one on the weekend.

Not bad for surgery a week ago.

Pretty pumped.

Great tourny this weekend at Marshfeild, Wi

I'm going to fire up the motorhome and head on over.

Friday night they have a $45 mini 9 ball. Limit 16 players. They also have a $20 mini 8 ball with a limit of 32.

Sat they start the 128 man race to 3, 8 ball marshfeild open. This is a regular tourney each year. last year I think they got 90 some players. Race to 3 just about anyone can win a match. Looks like a good time.

Pool is good here in Wisconsin. There are multiple tournys every weekend to go to.

I can remember years back that I would just wish that there was something to play in where you didn't have to travel 300 miles. Now you have to make a choice on the local level on which one you want to go to. Cool...

Get my stitches out tomorrow. Can't wait because they itch. Can't bend the left knee very good but I think that is because of the fluid. Hope she takes that out tomorrow but probably not.

Then I get my date with the knee replacement Dr for the right one.

Got at least a month for sure before that so I can lay allot of pool.

I'm also going to pass out a bunch of fliers at the Marshfeild Open and let the players know I will be here for a couple of months more to do some Perfect Aim lessons.

I've been teaching right along here in my home area. And the players overall are just flat out getting so much better.

Nice if you know how to aim.

See ya all at the Marshfeild open...............

Geno if you ever get to the houston Texas area or close I'm in for at least a good day of teaching sir, until then take it easy, do as your body says and listen, pain is the first indicator, like you didn't already know that right.

Hello there Gene. Please let me know when and if you open pool hall. I have family in Chippewa Falls. I lived there for a short while and enjoyed going to Happy Hollow in Altoona a few times. Played Justin V. once and it was fun. Got beat, but I don't play as much as I would like. However he played well. I'm up in Ashland area if you have ever been there

Left knee doing fine.......

Except the fact that the surgeon told me I'm going to need it replaced in the near future.

I sure hope near means a long time. I think I'll google near and see what I come up with.

Still on track to replace the right knee on the 27th. Missing allot of stuff right now but still playing in the tournys around Wisconsin and Minnesota and still doing lessons.

Got one today with a local guy at 4:00. Pretty pumped about that. good guy that wants to play better and he will for sure after this.

Good news is I've been playing allot. Practicing with my son and anyone else that will play. Giving big spots to make it tough.

The bad news is the Right shoulder, arm and hand have been real bad since my shoulder surgery 4 years ago. Hand goes numb or fingers go numb. Sometimes I would wake up and the whole arm from the elbow would be numb.

Finally I have just pain in my wrist, arm and hand. I've had this pain off and on but it would get better with ice and rest. For the last year I would wear a wrist brace and a golf glove to help me hold the cue better.

I've been blaming this on my neck and shoulder.

Turns out it is carpaltunel. Don't even know how to spell it but I can tell you I know how it feels.

I accidently took the brace off for about 1 hour the other day and got reminded with some terrible aches and pains that I needed the brace back on within 10 minutes. .

The good news is I can play pool with the brace on. I hold the cue with the fingers only. Not in my palm. that's no good. The brace helps keep the cue out of the palm. I've been doing this for about a year anyway or 2.

I'm sure many players have experienced this. I can't hardly move my hand up or down anymore. Sometimes I can't get a quarter out of my pocket.

The good news is it can be fixed. I just need to get another good roll and hope they can fix it good.

I don't even want to tell any of these doctors what else might hurt. I'm sure they can fix all those other things also. But this wrist thing has just gotten ridiculous.

I was signing my Perfect Aim DVDs last night and had to take a break. My writing is pretty bad. thank goodness for the computer. Much easier.

My brother Tom had this surgery done on both his wrists. He still has trouble but not the pain. Just numbness.

Starting to feel like Humptey Dumptey only I didn't fall off the wall. I guess I did fall stepping off the curb, and that was a great fall. But not from the wall.

MMMMMMMMMaybe a poet, NNNNAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH......

I'm not done playing by a long shot and I'm definitely not done teaching.

Just need to be patient and get things done and heal up.

One step at a time.

I go in this week to set up a day for the surgery with the surgeon. It would be cool if they could do it soon after the knee replacement on the 27th of this month.

Just another bump in the road. Who would have thought????????????

One man that used to have a van, bought a little car and a great big motorhome to get back on the road , still trying to get back on the road again.

See ya all soon.............never say never..........

Gene be very very leery of the wrist surgery.... I have a friend who never did get back to his old speed after they redid his...

I still have numbeness in my left pinky and ring finger from my first accounting job 20+ years ago and some pain now and then but you couldn't make me take that particular cutting until the pain and problem were more than a nuisance... My chiro showed me some stretches several years ago and they relieved about 80% of my problems.. I just keep forgetting to do them and viola hey look what's back....

Actually the first 2 are what they have me doing well the 2nd one I don't do the puppet section but the rest is the same... will add number 3 now that I have seen it.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTxQqu9USC4

I would agree with what Chris says.... Do the exercises, a couple of times a day and it will help you. Saves you some serious money, too... You may feel results sooner than you think...

And go see a specialist hand therapist for a second opinion before you commit to surgery. There's so much going on in the wrist that affects fine finger control, that you don't want to do that unless you're absolutely sure there's no other option.

My wife is an occupational therapist and I work in front of computers most of the day. I use the mouse with left and right hands and have had occasional issues with carpal tunnel as well. My wife gave me some exercises to do, and we repositioned my work station/computer desk. My issues went away in a matter of weeks.

Make sure to check your sitting posture when you're at the PC, the angle/position of your keyboard and where pressure gets applied to your wrists when you type can factor heavily into the development of CTS.

In conjunction with the exercises, I'd also recommend forearm massages along the upper and lower parts of your forearm. As the masseuse digs into your arm, you'll likely notice he/she focusing on areas called nodules (I think) which have formed around the flexor tendons in your arms over time. Those are basically toxins that have collected and clumped up.... they are likely contributing factors to your wrist issues and need to be massaged and released. Surgery won't help those...

I'm telling you all of this from personal experience...

Once all those parts are working again, come down to Florida and help me with my aim! ;)

Mr. Geno, Joey A. speaks very highly of you and I need a lesson from you per Joey A. Please come to New Orleans. Please put me on ur rooster

Sold my rooster a long time ago

I will put you on the roster though Mr Keith.;)

It might not be that far off either. That Lacys down there sounds like the place to be. Buffalo Billiards is pretty awesome also.

The video with the phone lesson can really get you started on the right track.

Say hi to Joey for me and Ritchie, Ronnie, Stoney and anyone else that is there that I know.

So many good people down there in New Orleans, it would be fun to spend a month or 2 playing and teaching some Perfect Aim.

715-563-8712 Just give me a call sometime....Talk to you soon.........

Every Monday, there is a $100 added 8 ball bar table tournament.

Every Thursday, there is a $500 added 9 ball, bar table tournament.

Every Friday there is a banger's 8 ball tournament.

Every Saturday (well almost) there is a tournament of some sort. October 11 will be a $2,000.00 GUARANTEED added bar table tournament, racing to 7 on Diamond bar boxes.
Sometimes there is a handicapped tournament on Saturdays on either bar table or big tables. Also plenty of tables for gambling.

What's the ratio of 9' to 7'? This Lacy's sounds like the king of sports bars. Johnnyt

9 days until knee replacement.......

Won a tournament last weekend.

Nice bar in Menomonie Tom and Joes, just put in brand new diamonds.Great job there and the tables played great.

Had only 24 players with about a $400 payday.

I'm going tomorrow to the Moose Lodge in Lacrosse, Wi for the final $2,000 added janets tour. I'm going to try and set up some action during the week before the surgery. I can still play just like before. Knee really isn't any worse than it's been the last 5 years, just tired of it.

Had an EMG yesterday on my right wrist. I can play with a brace on. breaking was really tough. I figured out a way to break taking allot of stress from the wrist. I will start showing players how this works. Still get a strong break.

No carpultunel. Doc said it sounds like a torn ligament. It's been bad for a long time. See him on the 23rd to figure out a plan. Ligament can be fixed but is real tricky.

Had surgery on the left knee about 6 weeks ago and that is going pretty good. Got some pain still and the surgeon told me I'm going to need that one replaced soon also. I asked her when soon would be. Her reply was,,,,You'll know.

If it holds up while I'm rehabbing the new knee I'll be good to go for awhile. If not they said that it could be replaced in 6 months at the soonest.

This whole medical business started with my neck, a herniated disc or 2. Been through months of therapy with no positive results. Time to get a second opinion. Laser Spine institute says they can fix it looking at the MRI. Local doctor says therapy. Thinks it's just from getting old, bone spurs and arthritis. It sure wasn't this bad until I got rear ended 18 months ago in Peoria, Ill.

My insurance won't cover the spine institute.

Can't wait to get this knee thing behind me. This has been a pain in the a__ or should I say knee for 18 years. Bone on bone for that long. This is for sure because they took the whole meniscus out in around 1996. Done running after that for sure.

Still doing lessons and working on some new videos for download. Can't wait to get some of these done for players to see.

Good Luck to everyone and thanks for the support during my rehabs.

One day at a time. Shooting for the road in Jan.

Getting close to knee replacement day......

The 27th, this Monday is the day.

The good news is I don't have carpultunel. The wrist and hand doc says it's probably from overuse. Imagine that. A pool player over using his dominant right hand.

More good news is that I won a pretty big tournament here in Wisconsin in spite of my ailments. I figured out how to break without hurting my wrist more. I will be sharing this in my teachings because there are many of us that hurt ourselves when we break.

I get feeling better everyday since I had the cyst out of my neck and off my thyroid. can't believe how sick this was making me. Now I can go in the smoke if need be. Still don't have to like it though.

Jan's tour in Wisconsin has been pretty successful and we are lucky to have her in our corner. Every week she has a tourney somewhere. Race to 3. 8 ball. Double elim with a great Calcutta. In order to play in her final tourney of the season you had to play in at least 2 events during the year.

The final event had 3 divisions with $2,000 added to each one I think. At least I know my division did. In the top division the Calcutta had $3500 in it. Not bad.

I'm finally starting to play pretty good and won with no losses. came at a great time also because I will be laid up for awhile with this knee replacement. it's not going to be as easy as some people have said. Gonna be allot of hard work to rehab and make it right but the final results should be great.

This weekend will be the Rob Weiss memorial tourney in menomonie, Wi. Rob was a good friend of mine and a well liked pool player among his peers. Rob had a hip replacement a few years back and had some pretty bad medical problems that finally did him in. I was on the road when Rob passed and found out when I got back to Wisconsin. I could hardly believe it.

I worked with Rob on his game and he talked to me about his troubles with the hip replacement. I guess the same thing can happen to knee replacements. Nothing is without a risk when blood thinners are used to keep the clots down and stuff like that. I was just explained a little of it. Hoping for the best.

I still have the motorhome ready to go. Parking it so it won't get snowed in at my friend Steven Dresels. Got the little car so all I need to do is get that car dolly and it's up up and away again.

Thanks everyone for all the support.

One man ,a little car, (Motorhome) and the road.

Back at it again Soon..........

Knee replacement tomorrow at 11:50 AM

Tomorrow is the day. Been waiting awhile and I can't believe it's here already.

I try to talk my way out of it with myself but then all I have to do is take a few steps and I know I need to do it.

I hurt this knee back in 1996. I fell while deer hunting. I was going down hill and my foot went underneath me and my knee struck a tree root that was sticking up. I didn't know it at the time but it took a chunk out of the femur. It hurt like hell but I dragged the deer down the hill and went home. 2 days later my knee swelled up like a basketball. I had the water drained out. About 2 weeks later it filled up again.
They did surgery and found out that I broke the femur and it had put a groove in the back of the knee cap.

2 days after the surgery I fell and smashed that right knee right down into the cement. The left one slipped on the ice. I had surgery about 3 months later and they took the whole meniscus out in little pieces. Then they drilled holes in the femur to try to allow it to form a hard coating when it healed. Dr Drawbert in town here told me I would get about 5 years out of the knee if I was lucky.

That was back in 1996. I got a few more years out of it but it's been pretty painful. I used my left leg to stand on mostly when I played pool. It hurt my game allot and was the reason I quit playing in 1999.

Started back up playing in 2008 with the same bad knee. Not so good. Then I smashed the left one in Alabama while I was teaching there about 4 years ago. Had that one repaired only to have the doc tell me that that one needs to be replaced soon. I asked when soon was. She said; You'll know.

The left one feels solid as a rock though for now. Once I get past the healing I will be able to practice again like I need to. There is still allot of fun out there for me to have. Being 62 will just be a little icing on the cake when I win here and there and I will.

I really didn't have a leg to stand on for the last 15 years or so.

I'm going to find out what it is like to be pain free in the right knee.

Kind of rymes.

Good Luck!

Remember to do like the doctor says and don't go chasing the nurses up and down the hall for at least three hours after surgery!

Good Luck!

Hu
