Once and for all!

i think you are exaggerating big time.

I do still believe what i have been saying all along. There are IMO at least 100 men in the WORLD that will beat any woman in a long set. I am very very surprised that many of you think i am wrong

BP,
The numbers being discussed so far are 500 in the world, and 100 in Florida. We have seen no lists from backers with cash. I suspect no one with money feels it is a good wager.

I have been saying 100 in the world, the whole time. Not just this thread but in every thread about this same thing.
I have also said it MUST be a long race.

Some people are calling me crazy because they think Allison/Karen would beat many of the top 100 men. I disagree with them wholeheartedly

I have no idea how 500 came up, but there are a bunch of AZers who think 100 in the world is too many.

BP,
The number 500 was the topic of discussion by the initiator of this thread (see first post in thread). While everyone is entitled to their opinion, he was fairly strident in ridiculing those with opposing opinions (and so far has not been willing to risk any cash on his opinion in contrast to JB).

If you are interested, the Action Report guys may be interested in televising a match if you come up with the 10 grand and a list. We'll have no trouble raising 10 grand on Allison (of course, convincing her to play would be a different story:) ). I'm sure that the top 100 men in the world all have a chance to beat her; I'm not convinced about the top 500.

the whole general list discussion is arbitrary and most likely will never be proven right or wrong one way or the other. I think that the number of people in the world that will consistently beat Kelly or Allison or Karen in a long ahead set lies somewhere between 250-500. I can name probably 100 or so in the US off the top of my head. Also, where in the thread did anyone mention making a list for someone to pick from and bet 10K? I must have missed that. I thought the game in question over the last few pages was Brian vs. Kelly Fisher. If anyone wants a five figure piece of that in a 20 ahead set then PM me and we can escrow it. I feel certain that we can get this down within hours if someone likes Kelly.

I didn't mention a "need" for a spot anywhere else either. Brian with an I said that he went to NC to play Kelly and that "her backer" wouldn't let her play without the 7. Since Brian didn't mention giving her the 7 or any other weight for that matter then I can only assume that no game took place.

I questioned WHY Brian would state or infer that he is the better player and yet be unwilling to give up weight.

I don't think that you will find anywhere in this thread where I said that I wanted to bet only IF Brian gives up weight. I don't think Kelly needs weight to beat Brian - I said that ten times already. I just happen to think it's a bit confusing as to WHY a player proclaims that he is better but then won't give up weight.

See IBA if I was running around claiming to be better than you without you barking back then I think I would be expected to give up weight if I wanted to get you to the table. Unless I wanted to steal your money then I wouldn't give you anything.

If you or Vette can quote one sentence where I said I will bet only when Kelly gets weight then I will paypal you and Corvette each $50 right now and post the transaction details on this thread.

I love y'all but when it gets into the what did he say part of this I can spot all of you the rainbow and I am stone cold stealing.

Well, you think Kelly is the favorite over Brian, why don't you give him the 7 ball LOCK ARTIST??? Do you know how ignorant you sound on here?

Why would I come up with 10k and a list? I said I believe the number is at least 100. Not 500. No one is gonna get 500 men together to play Allison, and even if they did, Allison doesn't gamble.. So what is the point?

My thing is, I don't understand how people think that there are less than 100 men that can beat Allison or whoever. maybe it's due them them not understanding the situation. i don't know.

some of the people on here only see the players that are at the biggest tournaments and narrow that down to being the 50-100 best players and the only ones that can play I guess. They don't understand that there are hundreds of players that play A speed that hardly ever play in tournaments or only regional tournaments. I just spoke to Brian and he is at the hospital having his second child (congrats) but he said that some guy named Brady (whom I had never heard of and I know a lot of pool players) beat Kelly in a 8 or 9 ahead set. I dont think people realize just how many good players are out there and the disparity between the sexes. It's like I said in an earlier post, I can shoot under par from 6200 yards and there are thousands of people in the US that can beat me at golf, maybe closer to 10,000. Just think about that for a minute. If I can shoot par on a course comparable to that the ladies tour plays on, then think about the disparity between the two tours. It's overwhelming , and its the same in pool.

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=82295 In this thread are 117 names in the U.S. I am not saying I would back every one of them, but certainly most. Also add the following 34 names of which I would wager on every one (and I am sure there are countless others worldwide that I have never seen):

Alcano

Brady is from Charlotte. Hell yeah, he can play too. He's not under the radar in the Carolinas.

The one thing this thread and many more like it proves is that there would be PLENTY of people tuned in to a Battle of the Sexes in pool if promoted right and the right two players matched up. Come on TAR and IPT...get on it. Johnnyt

yeah, he has to be able to play to beat Kelly, but thats what I'm saying. A guy from Charlotte that most haven't heard of outside the region and that I myself haven't heard of beats her in a 9 ahead set.

There's twenty that play close to Brady within 150 miles.

Iba, impressive list. Those are only the 150 most well known with another 50 that we could name if we thought about it. Add to that a couple of hundred that play Bruce Berrongs speed and then add another couple of hundred that play just below Bruce that would still be the favorite over her. Its astonishing to think about the number of good players out there and I think that is what the naysayers here are missing.

Last time this debate came up someone mentioned that Derek Leonard in Norht Carolina could beat Allison. I just played him tonight and asked him for his opinion on the matter. He said it all depended on what she would spot him. It takes a damn good player to beat that woman.
easy ,no offense intended, but if chew(derek leonard) told you this it was simply because he was trying to match up with you. not because he didn't beat allison and kelly fisher even for the cash. don't be naiive.

That's what I was thinking as well.:)

Well, I am truly sorry if I got such a shit storm started. I was simply trying to defend all the great players out there. For the record, I think that there are many great woman players out there. I was just simply trying to convey how many unbelievable male players there are.

I would much rather play Jasmin Ouschan than B_White. Im sure they would both beat me just as bad.... but Jasmin would look a lot better doing it. :)

Riggs bet a ton of money on Billy Jean and he previous beat the womens #1 player in the world just before that. So I guess there is dumping in tennis too.

The reason people on this forum disagree so much on the man / woman issue is that everyone is not listening. To the people who defend the woman......... Everyone on here knows that any man or woman can beat another in a tournament. They are short races and no one is disputing that anyone can win. So for you to get on this forum and announce " Oh look, a woman just beat a pro in a tournament" is useless.
But, listen up very carefully. Any woman could "career" it and beat tiger woods 18 hole of golf. Does this mean she's as good as tiger? Please!
What we are saying is that anyone can win in a tournament, but, the BEST 500 or so pool players on this planet are ALL male. Don't go by a tournament, play a 7 or 8 ahead 7 days in a row and see what happens. IT WOULD BE 500-0. Yes i'm saying it, pick your best woman and if she played the top men 7 or 8 ahead 7 days in a row she would NEVER win.
That's why a lot of people on here are tired of hearing this issue.

Enough of this which gender B*&%$@#T already. Let the stick and the play do the talking. SHUT UP AND SHOOT! I don't care if you're a man, woman, dog, cat, martian or whatever specie or sb-specie you come form. If you gotta prove a point, step up and let your shooting do the talking. I'm tired of hearing all these hypotheticals. If you want to prove something, don't talk, whine, brag or whatever, JUST DO IT AND LET YOUR GAME DO THE TALKING! PERIOD!
