One dead in shooting at Arlington pool hall.

There was a pool hall in Greensboro NC called B G McGee's and just before it closed they had bouncer's and a metal detector.

bouncer

This used to be the Click's in East Arlington (not the Click's II off of Green Oaks).

Really....how much of a pool hall is it if a bouncer is required???

Maniac

There's no way to prevent every drunk or jerk from entering a pool hall.

What's wrong with having a bouncer? Of course there are good bouncers and bad bouncers. If they are good they watch so that people don't damage equipment or steal cues or cue balls, as well as discourage arguments and fights. So they're like insurance against damage and idiots giving your place of business a bad name.

After breaking up a fight between two rather large fellas (I go maybe 145 lbs after dinner) at a billiard center were I worked years ago, the waitresses went to the boss and demanded he hire a bouncer instead of relying on me. They did and everyone was happy.

A good bouncer is really a cooler, they deescalate the tension. As a former bouncer myself, I'd much rather have a bouncer that tried to reduce tension than one looking for a fight.

I spent a lot of time there when it was Clicks. Got rough towards the end.

Last time I was there, post Clicks, I could see it wouldn't be long till
this type problem would occur.

Always was afraid of a drive-by happening there.

Gives pool a bad rap

I remember a guy walked into the billiard lounge in santa maria many years ago and shot a guy a couple tables down from me. He ran out quickly and a bunch people went running out after him. I felt it was safer to duck under the slate of the table. I always remember that when playin into the wee hours of the morning.

Some of those hot summer nights playing golf till sunrise, with the back door open...makes ya nervous.

Yep, a bad situation.

Cigarette smoke and flying lead....two reasons I like having a table at home.

Shooting in the Pool Room is sad buy if you want to get upset. Think about all the people killed every weekend in the USA by DRUNK DRIVERS. There should be a law with teeth to deal with the problem.

Turns out they were arguing about aiming systems...

The guy that shot with feel won.

Jeez....can't we all just get along and play pool like gentlemen?!

To clear this up this place was named Jumbo Pockets but by no means is it a pool hall anymore. It may still have tables in it but it is only open on the weekends, and late at night. It is pretty much just a hip hop night club that has a very rough crowd that has no interest in pool.
