Grady, you are deeply appreciated by literally hundreds of thousands of pool players world wide but it seems like you have choosen to focus your attention on a few who find it entertaining to publicly show disrespect for you.

It has nothing to do with you, imo. It has to do with them. They are just people who are not capable of respecting others. Period.

The more you focus on them the more they spew their venom and the more they delight when they can see that they have caused pain.

They are sub-human and you need to let them die a solitary death, as they deserve.

I hope you will stay with us and offer us your experience and knowledge. That's the right thing to do and you will benefit from ignoring the low-lifes and focusing on giving of yourself to we who appreciate your abilities.

"Entertaining" is the key word, JimS.

It hurts deeply for someone like Grady -- and me included -- to read the untoward comments made towards the professional pool players on the forums. These are POOL forums. Yet, some of the respondents seem to derive pleasure from ridiculing pool players who have chosen their path in life to be a professional in this discipline. These sucker-punching monkeys enjoy entertainment at the expense of hurting the feelings of the lifelong pool professional(s). They think it's all fun and games.

On the one hand, forums are supposed to be fun and entertaining, but for players like Grady, it is not all fun and games when you read some of the mean-spiritied comments. Pool is Grady's life.

Some forum "regulars" have a long track record on other pool websites of causing consternation, and it is sad that this seems to be their entire life today.

Yesterday, I committed myself to a long-term job on the Hill which will generate a lot of pages and 18-plus-hour days in the pit. You might see me on C-SPAN, if I'm unlucky. The computer I have to use will not have access to AzBilliards. Joy to the AzBilliards world. JAM will be on hiatus indefinitely, but at least I will be making some big bucks, I hope!

The Hill is in full swing right now, getting ready for the election year. There are lots of activities in progress, and I'm going to make hay while the sun's a shining! My 150-plus-WPM fingers will be in turbocharge mode. Now I will be in the pit, giving it my all. I'm actually kind of looking forward to it.

Oh come on. Time to catch hell for this post. I know Grady is a legend and a great player and many of you would happily give him fellatio just to say you knew him better than others, but this is a forum of a LOT of pool players. He is a pool player. We are pool players too. There have been countless times we dont get invited to things we feel we should or things just simply dont go our way. It's called life. Not just a pool players life but EVERYONES life. Do we get on here and cry about it? Some do.... But!! if we were to get upset and make a post we would have the decency to at least reply to our thread and not just ignore it.

Also most people on these forums are helpful as often as possible. Is he? I've hardly seen anything GOOD posted from him. Just always how hes on a high horse of being a legend and expects the queen of england to drop her panties in his very presence (for the slower people that was a metaphor). You're a legend... act like it?

Now he's upset. We understood that from his first post about it... and if we didnt then we understood it from his second post about.... ANNND if we're still that slow we now have a third. What do you people expect to happen? It has nothing to do with disrespect. Act like a gdamn adult. If you want sympathy or people to support you then be helpful in a general way instead of throwing it into a book and using your "legend" to rake in the cash. People have said hes deeply hurt. Ok not deeply enough to actually engage in conversation or reply to people. or not deeply enough to actually do something about it. And at his age I'm more than certain hes learned not everything goes his way... but then again maybe it has. I dont know.

If we charged DCP for all the help he gets he'd be homeless by now.

Hmmmmm.....your's is a somewhat inflammatory post.

You imply that Grady is crying (no tears on his face, he's stating his opinion for the student's of the game). You state that he believe's himself superior to the Queen of England and expects her to disrobe (I think I missed that in his previous posts). You state that anyone who agree's with his opinion would like to revoke their heterosexual status (I won't even ask how you know so much about the member's sexual habits).

All of these things are totally false; and do not help your argument. They are meant to inflame, and yes they do adversely affect your reputation.

Grady makes many posts regarding the history of the game, and his personal experiences. He ALWAYS tells us his true feelings, and for that many of us are very grateful (with no homosexual reciprocity expected despite your vulgar innuendo). It is nice to have the participation on the board of expert players, even if not everyone agrees with their positions - that is the function of the board.

You state that he is a "pool player", and that we are all "pool players." I think you give yourself and us too much credit. To claim equality is easy, to back it up quite a bit more difficult. Most of us are students of the game, a few of us are Professor's of the game, and an unlucky few are just clueless. I will leave it to each member to figure out his place in this scheme; but it is usually apparent to all.

I posted that line because in some peoples eyes some people can do no wrong. That was the point of the post. The whole post basically says no matter how great or how good you are you can still be in the wrong. And doing 1000 great things doesnt make you forever immune to anything. He's been consistently posting these topics without replies and essentially whining in so many words in new thread after new thread on the same topic.

Also it's a private matter between him and randy. he posts it publicly trying to get support but it seems the majority of his other posts ARENT helping others like many others do here so why would he generate support (in regards to the harsh comments people have left that the supporters were confused about)? He does come across as on a high horse like hes greater than thou. Some believe it some dont.

In terms of equality.. we all are pool players. Status symbols dont mean anything (although to some i'm sure they do). We all come to this forum to share info and learn and talk about the game ALL skill levels love.

I cant really say anything else now that he finally decided to offer up to help come to a solution and quit whining.

Hopefully the thread he just created again saying he would increase the payout will work out.

Cubc is usually a poster that I enjoy reading and it just struck me as odd that he would post something that vile just because a pool thread has 2 differing opinions.

I say this a lot anymore, but this is supposed to be a place where we who love pool can get away from other stuff for a while and discuss pool related things. I can't figure out why they have to sometimes turn so ugly. I really want us all to get along and be nice here. There's enough hate outside here that we all have to deal with.

Can't we disagree but do it in ways that we can still be respectful of each other here? The disagreeing is sometimes fun, because you learn other perspectives. Funny cut ups and good natured woofing is encouraged. but let's keep it reasonable. What's so wrong about that?

And the frustration wasnt from the different point of view it was more from Grady starting thread after thread about a personal matter he should be adult enough to settle off a forum and the whole expecting the planet owed him something and "we should be ashamed of ourselves!". Also I tried to cover the reasons some people were "flaming" in their own ways briefly in that post too all thrown into one post of nasty-not-niceness.

Listen buddy, all is good here. You're not going back to the corner, you're going to stay out here with us and keep putting your 2 cents worth in with the rest of us. We just had a little mishap, that's all. Over & done with, under the bridge, over & out. We don't keep score like that here.

Think of it like we're all shooting pool and after trading some barbs back & forth (and some zingers ) as well, Michaela Tabb had to step in and say "Now, now!" And after a moment of awkward silence, we all look around sheepishly..

Now, let's get back out to the forums. Or at least this thread. We're probably missing something juicy!

Sadly, the answer is NO. That is a foreign language to some people. If they are disagreed with they must defend themselves and by that they disrespect each other. It carries on and it turns out like this whole Grady-Randy fued. If more people were like Terry, it would be a lot friendlier place. Some people might not like it however, because it might be too nice. Of course, the majority of the people are great, but there are a few loose cannons out there.
