well after about 7 years, couple thousand dollars, and a very large pile of snakewood sawdust, i finally finished a one piece butt with NO HAIRLINE CRACKS. both ends were doweled with laminated maple and most of the handle area was left solid.
cue is 19.6 0z, butt 15.5, shaft 4.1. .85 at the joint, 1.22 at the butt, 57 inches long. a recycled brunswick shaft dark in color with 20 grp, no ferrule and a 13.25 mm talisman tip. elk and black linen fiber for the joint rings.
i have 2 more in the process, i think natural color rings on the next one.

Sweet!

Don't sneeze or it's gonna cra....... OK I won't say it...I don't want to jinx you! LOL!

That's a seriously great thing to accomplish and a beautiful result.

You are one guy that is not limited by convention that's for sure.

Who's the man to watch? Chuck Starkey.

Outside the box cues? Heck...I don't even think he knows there is a box. LOL!

One of these days I will get my hands on one of your cues.

.

thanks guys

mike, cut it, some will crack and some will not. i had a piece that was suppose to be 25 years dried, it cracked. i bought 3 pieces out of this log, 1 cracked, the other 2 did not. only time will tell.
chopdoc, some think inside the box, some think outside the box, i just think about the box

Yeah, me too! Wait, maybe we're not talking about the same kind of box here! :p

I think it's great you were able to do this...I too have heard about snakewood's propensity for "you know what"...
