thanks everyone
Jay, when I have given something like 8 to 3 to a really weak player, the problem is that if I make just one mistake it may cost me the game. I'm guessing that may have happened with you and Archie. With the longer game, you could overcome a mistake, but maybe not with the short game.jay helfert said:Should be 8-7 after 10-8. Otherwise you are doing fine. After 9-7, comes 11-8 or 10-7. You can always go longer and give up more balls, for example 12-8 and the like. In the normal progression after 10-7 comes 8-6 and then 9-6, but 11-7 is also a possibility. You see, it is up to the players if they want to go with longer games or shorter ones.
I have seen games like 7-6 and 6-5, even 3-2. Anything is possible in One Pocket. I gave Archie the Greek 5-3 and the break for 500 a game. We had progressed downward from the original game of 9-5. I beat him badly at 9-5 and 7-4. He beat me just as bad at 5-3. So the shorter game did not work well for me.
