Only 17 Players at The New York State 10-Ball Championship???

I just found out about the tournament.....a little too late. ;) Vivian is presenting a big tournament in southern Texas this coming weekend if anyone's interested....it's $10,000 added and hosted at a super nice venue.
If anyone is interested this didn't give them enough info to be able to find the tournament. Can you say where it is at and any other pertinent info?

Oh, I thought it was close to 100. I'm a Long Island boy too. JT

Well if you tried to make the trip on a weekday around 8AM, it would take more time than driving 100 miles in a lot of other places-though i did know a guy who commuted from Philadelphia to Long Island every weekday for 3-4 years. Can you imagine that? Two or -three brutal Toll bridges and or tunnels to cross each way also. I get nervous just thinking about it.

I'd be getting me a small apartment on L.I. if I had to work there from Philly. Unless he didn't trust the milkman around the wife.. JT

Hmmm no wonder the final was on just now so just 1 day instead of 2 days finish
Earl lost to Mike Dechaine after missing the 10 down the rail in 3rd last rack. Earl was nuts to propose playing one set of race to 9 instead of double set double elimination. Mike would have to win 2 sets if they had played double set

So it would have taken another hour then? 😜

Yeah me too. I guess if you left Philly at 5AM the trip up might not be too brutal but there is NO TIME you could leave LI and wind up cruising down the NJ TPke to Philly.

I dont even touch the NJ TPKE driving to/from FLA now. I go 70 extra miles but miss the whole TPKE, as well as Baltimore and DC. I save a lot of time and nerves.

Earl's got a new girlfriend? :grin-loving:

Pictures, please. ;)

How does that song in New York go again? Start spreading the news . . .

First of all this happened in my area and I only knew about it a few days before hand. There was really no advertising that this was happening that I saw.

Second, there were two amateur handicapped tournaments the same day in the area, Castle Billiards $1400 for first and Gotham Billiards was $1500 added. So anyone A+ speed or lower was going to play one of these two events.

Third, there really is no significance to "New York State 10ball championship". How is that different than the "Empire State Championship" (which is also 10ball)? It's just another tournament with another fancy name.

Castles in NJ and MR Cue in Lindenhurst, Long Island, NY are about 100 mile apart. About 50 miles each from NYC. They're both poolrooms in different states, I would be surprised if they tried to work it out. Wonder who had the date first? JT

Might wanna buy yourself a new map. Castle is about a 10min drive into manhattan. Lindenhurst is about an hour from NYC.

I imagine if Upstate Al hadn't promoted it here on AZB a bit, mighta had single digits on it.

But as said earlier, mike has been thumping on earl as of late...plus earl had beat him once that day already. Perhaps he thought he had a better chance to win if they played a shorter amount? I can see him thinking that if he didn't win the first set, he'd have virtually 0 chance at winning the second one.

Scratch that. I am sure he wanted to get out of the poolroom with that pretty girl! good for him.
