Open Offer to Danny Harriman and John Schmidt from TAR

Frick it, let's kick this horse a little further for the sake of prosperity.

Allow me to break this down for you all:

1.) Bottom line this match will and needs to happen.

2.) Danny knows this and so he started the process of healing with his heart felt post No. 486. Well, it was kind of an apology but then he tried to be funny at the end and it might have become an insult. But it doesn't even matter. Money is money.

3.) I also listened and watched Podcast 14. It is clear exactly how Justin sees the whole situation.

4.) It is fair for him to feel like frick it. Can't give money away. Well come get it then mofos. But you got to play Shane even. We will see how that goes.

5.) BTW, you can read a lot with Mark and Justin's body language.

6.) I agree that today Justin may not be a good negotiator but if he could learn more about human behavior and appear to be more tolerant it would help him get things done.

7.) Justin is not a closer...he is an opener. Opener's are usually entrepreneurs and leaders.

8.) Closers are usually sales folks. Mark is a closer. So they make a good team.

HAHAHA

People seem to forget this has been an off and on thing for over three years. People really have no clue at all how many matches never happen that no one ever hears about. Its easily four to one. I started this thread because all other options were exhausted. It was a last ditch long shot effort. I guess some people see this thread and forget the twenty four previous matches that got done.

As for me needing to learn about human nature maybe thats the case but I have made my living working with professional gamblers and pool players. I would say I could teach some classes on human nature. Sometime you just have to cut bait.

A few people know how screwed up pro pool really is. I mean at a basic human nature level. Most really do not know because what they know is what is made public. Thinking you can apply standard business and sales tactics in this world is simply naive. I'm not a good business man and I'm not a good negotiator but as far as I can tell no one else has come close to doing what Chad and I have done as far as putting big name individual matches together. People that try invariably throw up their hands and walk away. A good businessman wouldn't have anything to do with pro pool. The only reason to have anything to do with it is out of emotional attachment to it. Good businessmen do not make emotional decisions regarding business.

Ask yourself this "Why isnt anyone else doing these types of matches in the U.S.?" I mean there are plenty of great marketing guys, negotiators and business minds out there. Seemingly most of them are on AZ. How come none of them have picked up the ball and ran with it? Use all that savvy and mental horsepower to really do things right ? I often ponder this question myself.

Because you my friend have a vision that most people only talk about doing, you put it into action and is passionate about it. That is what makes it special IMO.

I agree with you Justin, but the problem is with this world is sometimes you have to deal with shit. That is life, and especially business. I don't mean you have to lay down to anyone but sometimes you have to just bite your tongue and go with it. You said it as well as alot of people, this would draw a BIG audience, especially now that all this drama has taken place. It might be something to reconsider just this once if both parties, well one party finally agrees. You did state that you want to give people (PPV buyers) what they wanted. I think this would definately be a huge success. If this goes off I think you will be remembered for what you were able to bring together not the petty drama shit that has been happenning with trying to get this together. But it is YOUR business and you do what you feel is best. I just think this hype has gotten this showdown to potentially be the biggest you ever had at TAR.

I understand your points and agree with most of them.

The thing is no one here knows what I know. I know that no matter what something is going to not be good enough. No matter how much work, ego stroking, hand holding or baby sitting it's not going to be enough. One guy will say something to the other and piss them off and they will not want to play, one guy will want a rule the other doesnt and they wont want to play, one will want to sit in a chair the other wants. Somethings just are not meant to be.

People honestly do not have any idea the staggering amount of childish bullshit that is required to make a match actually happen. I have friends that see me do it and they just ask me "How do you do this?" If I am the guy saying "Screw it" then there is a very good reason why.

What really and truly baffles me is that some people act like this the first time I have done this. Like I havent been here a hundred times before. As for the biggest match ever...it would do well were it to happen and then be forgotten two weeks later like they all are.

I appreciate the kind words. The support we get from people is the balance to all the dumb things that happen. Any complaining or *****ing aside I consider myself very lucky to do what I do. The only reason I can is because people help us keep going by supporting what we do.

I don't mean to sound like I know it all because I sure as hell don't. All I ask is that maybe a little thought or weight be given to the track record we have.

I just had a thought for anyone who thinks this match isn't happening because I did a shitty job. Mayweather/Pacquiao is the most desired boxing match in recent times. Hundreds of MILLIONS of dollars would be made off that match. Yet for some reason people with more degrees than a thermometer and the slimiest, slickest negotiators this side of Congress can't seem to make it happen.

Sometimes no matter how much something makes sense humans find a way to screw it up.

Man... this would've been a great match! Plain and simple, TAR was gonna pretty much pay for the whole thing and somehow politics always come into play! WHY?

I Love this game... but there's always that side of it that makes me so sick!

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK TAR! CANT SAY YOU DIDN'T TRY!!!

One of the great things about this is whenever TAR decides to offer prize money in the future, players will know not to get greedy and just be thankful.

I love this. Let it be known up front to the pool world that asking for a dime more than what was generously offered you will get you passed over.

Enjoy watching TAR 25 Danny. Enjoy the guaranteed money TAR 25 contestants.

Keep up the great job Justin.

What ever happen to men betting their own money r having a backer, nowadays players want to get paid just for showing up,BULLSHIT if you want to get paid ,get in there in grind it out and WIN the money yourself,if i was you JUSTIN i wouldnt paid the players nothing but exspences, make them do what all the pool players had to do before,WIN AND GET PAID!oH AND BUY the way,i wouldnt say that JUSTIN is fat,he is just a HUGE GOOD MAN,i would rather b JUSTINS size, then a HARRIMEN SKINNY ASS!

I hope that isnt the point that was made here. It surely was not my intention. I dont have any problem with someone saying "I want more" or "Thats not enough" I understand that. It happens all the time. Everything is open to negotiation.

All I ask is either just say "No" or if interested make some sort of counter offer that is lacking personal insult.

I think this whole thing has become too personal for me to be involved in at this point. Maybe Mark can contact Danny and try to work something out. If thats the case and he can make the match I'll do the work, keep my opinions out of it and be a professional about it.

Being passionate about what you do is a double edged sword. This time I probably let it get the best of me.

JCIN, nobody thinks you do a bad job. We all love TAR.
Insults have been thrown around this match up from the get go. John has said crazy a$$ stuff about Danny, you have talked about Danny being crazy, and Danny talked about you being a big man (Im not fully convinced he was talking about your weight).
I think that Dannylee has a great point that this drama might be what draws a bigger crowd.
I think that Hungarian Nut and myself have been called so many names over the years that it doesn't faze us anymore. You probably havent encountered this much and dont know how to ignore it.
Like I said, insults have been thrown around this match up for years between all parties hence its extra juicy. What a way to promote a match.

I am an old fashioned kind of guy. I am more interested in potential matches, who might win, you know pool related stuff. With all of that said times have changed people like to see controversy and drama in just about anything which is precisely what this thread has generated. I am not being sarcastic when I say that Justin, whether he realizes it or not, is handling this perfect. This long thread with name calling and drama is the perfect lead up to this match. You can't pay top dollar for better PR.

Lol........I agree with you.

It's fascinating how people can read different things into the same postings. This has been a PR disaster as all of this drama and name-calling really hasn't accomplished anything. Justin has been trying to get a match going between JS and DH for three years now. He's tired of the BS and I can't say that I blame him one bit.

If Danny really wants this match to occur, he's going to have to put a lot more effort into making it happen. A good start would be for Danny to contact Mark, not the other way around.

If all of this unfolded in a simple, civil, yes I will play, sure I will play, thank you, your welcome kind of way it would not get nearly the attention that the dramatic saga has. For better or worse reality T.V. and the social train wrecks that it captures is the standard for entertainment. If the match comes off all of the crap that has been said will have made it bigger.

I just heard this comment and immediately thought of this thread:

Richard Nixon said the only way to manage is you let everything boil to a crescendo and then you can get people to finally negotiate.

Post 513

Justin,

I hope you didn't take offense to my post 513. You said yourself in Podcast 14 that you are a terrible negotiator. I was just taking you at face value. But in reality, I have know idea how well or how poor you negotiate. I can believe that you may loose patience with certain pool players after you try so hard to make things happen.

Secondly, my post was an effort to pile on this train wreck of a thread and to playfully chronicle the events that have taken place. And so you may be reading too much in my point No. 6 and not enough into my point No. 7.

Point No. 7 says that you are an entrepreneur and a visionary and this is the truth my friend. You start things and turn nothing into something. Guys like you are rare. And normally guys like you are less tolerant to certain things which is very normal.

Cheers,
Mark

1.) Dora, please don't lump me in with you and your strifling ways...lol

2.) Danny Lee doesn't speak much but when he does you should listen.

3.) I really don't believe this thread started out to be a publicity stunt.

4.) From a marketing standpoint companies spend fortunes to develop business and markets.

5.) Why not use the leverage that this thread may have created?

6.) Where's Mark Griffins mind in all of this?

justin

you did nothing wrong. telling that little beat off to go f himself was the best thing you could've done. don't let the inmates run the asylum. keep them at arms length and let them know bullsh!t won't be tolerated. keep your focus on people that appreciate what you do for the sport, and f all the haters. keep up the good work, us weekend warriors live vicariously through your streams. thanks

Mark Griffin is thinking -
But I do wish things would calm down a little. You can disagree with others in a polite manner. But I also understand how emotions run high.

Let's just see if something happens in next week or so.

Time wil tell,

Mark Griffin
