I've been considering this for some time now, but want other people's opinions on this. My cocobolo cue below has no wrap and the wood is gorgeous, but there are too many inlays in this cue for me to use it I think. What are your opinions on having a leather wrap put onto this cue? I know it'll cover up the nice grain in the wood handle, but I now feel I may have gone nuts with the whole cocobolo theme...Whadaya think?

Too many inlays in the cue for you to use it  ??? Nah, go ahead and use it. It's a beautiful cue and if it were mine, I'd leave it just like it is and play with it. But, if you must have a wrap on it, I personally prefer a good leather wrap. I have cues with leather wraps, linen wraps, veltex, and no wraps and I much prefer the leather wraps. BTW, I don't think you went nuts with the cocobolo theme :) .

Cue is beautiful "as is" why alter a outstanding piece of work if you want a cue with a leather wrap then go buy one. Cue stands as was originally designed. I'm not a big believer in altering a cues original design to say nothing of altering the butt to accomodate the wrap.

for sale

well, just so you guys know...this cue IS for sale if interested. $800 + shipping (retail was/is $1300!!)
and it was MY design...not one I just bought, I thought it up!!

Brand? Condition? Weight? Length? Tip type and hardness? Ferrule type and diameter? Joint pin type? Age? Etc?

It's a DZ cue made in 04'. GREAT shape, 19.4 oz, like 58in, 3/8x10 pin. Did this cover your ??'s?

Not only does it not need it, I'd say you'd ruin the look of that cue with a wrap! It's beautiful the way it is. Love the style.

thanks

thanks for the kind words guys! I knew this was gonna happen which is why I wanted to sell it before getting my instroke case. I got the case, put my DZ cues (some of em') into it, and went to my local pool room to hit some balls. I actually played with this cue!! I'd forgotten just how good it felt to me, so its not for sale...sorry, but its remaining in my collection of DZ cues. I will however sell my bacote s/p to the first person who comes up with $$. good luck, Jeff

Hey Duke don't you dare cover up that cue..it is beautiful..keep it in a few weeks/months your view will change and you will want it back..i mean that is gorgeous..thanks for posting it....:)

No way should you put a leather wrap on that bad boy. If you're too scared to use it all fancied up, then put it away and get something more plain*. It is a nice looking cue and a wrap would be a shame.

*I actually did this with my Cognoscenti. Played with it for a while, but then it seemed too fancy so I bought a plain one and shelved the prettier one.

It's impossible to have too much ruddy swirly cocobolo Duke.

I really like your design. Keep it, play it like a hot biatch, love it, be happy & conquer the pool world!:p

wow!

WOW!!!!This is definitely a change from the first time I posted pics of this "bad boy"!!! The first time I posted pics of it, alot of the posters here were badmouthing this cue...calling it a "christmas tree", saying the green did NOT belong with the cocobolo at all. I'm glad to come home and read some nice comments about my design cause I like the way it looks really, I just am worried about playing it due to messing it up, but I guess thats the good reason I have Bob DZ in my town...To refinish it if it happens!! Thanks for all the kind words guys, and it won't be covered cause I have a leather wrapped cue coming from Bob in about 1 month hopefully...I'll just wait I guess! :) Anyone wanna see a pic of that bad boy? :) Let me know here

I'll give you my honest opinion. The only thing I like on that cue is the handle, looks great. I like the design, just not the green inlays.

The handle on that cue is beautiful though.

yep

Yeah, the handle is my favorite part of the cue also. There's one spot of grain on it that I think is just AMAZING!!

This is the most God awful ugly cue I have ever seen. If I were you, I would sell it to the first person who offers me $500 for it. In fact, I'll do you a favor and buy it from you myself. That's what kind of guy I am.

????????/

Why to fancy for you an its so ugly. I'll only give $287.50.Nah I'm just joking! If you though enough of the design in the beginning whats the problem. If it were the hit or feel I might understand. You got a beautiful cue a one of a kind you designed if you like the way it plays just play.

This design underwent some changes during production. Its 99% what I originally thought it should be, little things were just changed. I origionally wanted the handle "broken" into 3 pieces, but didn't know how to get that look...So myself and Bob came to an agreement on the ivory diamonds. I'm not complaining at all, don't get me wrong, I'm just not a huge fan of inlays to begin with...So to me, it looks kinda cluttered sometimes. The most important thing for me is the playability, not the looks, and this thing plays VERY WELL for me...Some days I just wish I'd have gotten something different, thats all. I do however very much like the green in the cue cause green is my favorite color...And the inlays match the green veneer  :D Agh...Just ignore me, this cue's going nowhere! lol Some days I feel the need to get something else, but then like even 1 hour later, I don't want to sell it for the world cause it plays like I want it to. I'm just confused, don't mind me!  :D :D :D lmfao

haha, ok!

SOLD!!!! LOL, thats funny Jay!! Yes, I sense the sarcasm there! Thanks for the kind words everyone...I'll just leave it alone and wait for my purpleheart "merry widow" to be done to have a leather wrap. Thanks for helping talk me out of a huge mistake guys, Jeff
