Yes, after a bit of confusion. Collins said he thought the game total was 58, which would be inconsistent with earlier information. But if that is right it would be 33-25 in games. If it was 60 games, that would be 34-26. But at least the players agreed on 8 ahead and prorated the money. Match over.Scoring error ends it at 8 ahead for John.
Seems like there needs to be some kind of minimum either in the games played (at least 2N in a race to N) or number lost (like half of N). You don't want one player to quit after the first game.the best way to play a long ahead is to let the person behind out anytime he wants at the prorated position he is in.
There's always the chance to review the footage. For the stakes involved, I'm surprised there was no official scorekeeper.Yes, after a bit of confusion. What's the point of playing an ahead set then?the best way to play a long ahead is to let the person behind out anytime he wants at the prorated position he is in.
How do the people on this site not know what an ahead set is??? Really surprised this is your answerSeems like there needs to be some kind of minimum either in the games played (at least 2N in a race to N) or number lost (like half of N). You don't want one player to quit after the first game.
I'd bet dollars to doughnuts both players know what an ahead set is. It sounded just a brainstorm on another way to play it.How do the people on this site not know what an ahead set is??? Really surprised this is your answer
The trailing player can quit after 3 days. Imo.What's the point of playing an ahead set then?
That makes ZERO sense. Just play by the game then cause that's EXACTLY what you are doing. Jesus
Days is entirely different than games. Their suggestion was by the game and calling it an ahead set - 2 entirely different thingsThe trailing player can quit after 3 days. Imo.
If I was leading by 8 after 3 days at the END of day 3 which this was-I watched it unfold. I wouldn’t want to come back as the leading or trailing player and play day 4. Starting at +8 or -8. And neither looked like they wanted anymore after day 3.
I think long form 1P is a tremendous form of pool action. However I also said when they started 8 ahead is the best number for this format. It’s just a coincidence it ended at 8. When you have played 30 hours and are up 8 you beat the other guy. 10 ahead is just too long. It’s 20% longer and can account for many many more hours.
I think they made a good decision in this specific case to call it off. And I’m not one to ever knock or cut short action. This is a specific circumstance and the conclusion is reasonable.
Was a great sweat for a few days. Proper action well played and hopefully we see lots more action like this.

They 100% described by the game play, it has nothing to do with an ahead set and is the oppositeI'd bet dollars to doughnuts both players know what an ahead set is. It sounded just a brainstorm on another way to play it.
Let me help you out- both posters know what a ahead set is. Both posted their ideas as to how the "ahead set" could have contingency plans if it looked like the ahead # seemed to be too high. They 100% described by the game play, it has nothing to do with an ahead set and is the opposite
The players had already agreed to that before they started but they sure as hell didn't say to prorate at any timeLet me help you out- both posters know what a ahead set is. Now if you would take the info I have posted and go back and reread those "unbelievable" posts, you may see the light.
It is their game are they not allowed to decide as they see fit ?The players had already agreed to that before they started but they sure as hell didn't say to prorate at any time
Yes, that is the point. Did I say different? These others have tried to change their game and the meaning of ahead set, not me. Hard to believe this is so hard for all of you.It is their game are they not allowed to decide as they see fit ?
Sure, let's reinvent one pocket cause you want a game to take forever. Wtf is wrong with you people???File this one under RnD/PersonalResearch/Mother of all Drills/
They should play out each rack and score total ball count. Rail jockeys can bet by the game or any way they can get action.
The announcers said from the beginning that the players would prorate the games after two days, and/or decide what to do about the third day. This was known all along. Either way, it was a great matchup to watch. The trailing player can quit after 3 days. Imo.
