I introduced a good friend to a cue maker of high repute>The cue maker took $big bucks from him for a cue because he had a need

Now this rogue will not even answer the phone or return his calls>The customer is not a pest but a fine older gentleman who has always acted honorably, and now finds himself in a medically induced straight

This cue maker, who sports a big reputation on here seems to me to be little more than a petty crook and deserving of an exposure of reputation.

I fear that he is not a man of honor and this could happen to others

what would you AZ people think should be done to help this innocent customer and protect others in the future?

I am not at this time revealing the name, here or in private

Without revealing the name you will not be able to accomplish your goal of protecting others.

If you reveal the name, then there is the risk of law suit for defamation.

If your claim is true with evidence, you don`t have to worry about the defamation law suit.

This is not debatable... NAME THE CUEMAKER. Naming him won't hurt your friends chances of getting his cue. It may even help. But it will help others who are thinking about sending this guy money.

After he is named you will probably be surprised when many others post their same experience with this jerk. I'm not 100% sure I know who you are talking about, but I have a pretty good idea. But one thing I do know is that when someone pays for a cue they should get it!

This thread is useless inho, its like telling the police the guy that just robed you is 5'6" to 5'9" brown hair & had cloths on.

Have you personally spoken to the cuemaker? (This is what I would do if I introduced a seller to one of my friends).
If not, you should.

If you have spoken to him, you should have collected his facts as they were told by him then go back and discussed this with the older gentleman.

I would suggest that the aggrieved party file a lein on the cuemaker`s business. The whole story then becomes a matter of public record which I doubt the cuemaker would want to happen. Your friend may eventually want to file a lawsuit.

X 2 ...I'm with Joey, talk to him first and if you can't get thru to him maybe one of the other cuemakers on here can relay your message to the cuemaker in question to get in contact with you. Have you tried PMing him? Now if I found out he was ignoring me after leaving 5-10 messages, Pm's, emails, phone calls & texts and he had my money the sh1t would hit the fan and the fan would be outside of his shop/house. So don't jump so quick to fry him, but put the burner on low.

If I am the ignored buyer in this situation I would be trying to get my money back. If there are hard feelings you will not necessarly get the cuemakers best work. Once someone has your money and then stops talking to you it rarely ends well.

Unless you're just posting this to put pressure on the guy, post his name.
These kind of games don't do much without a name, but they get a lot of drama.

Are you sure you have your facts straight? Bad stuff happens to cuemakers too. Recently we had Dickie in the hospital and nursing home for a couple of months and Eric who was first bitten by a spider and suffered serious injuries and afterwards had family issues that took precedents over his work. I'm just using these as examples, but even though the customer has a right to expect proper communications, sometimes it's just not possible or practical. Also not all of us have people who can let folks on AZ know their situation. I'm sure your friend is frustrated but without all the facts you could just be stirring the pot needlessly and possibly hurting the cuemakers reputation and livelihood unfairly.

This is one of those "I know something but im not telling" situations which is pointless.

Questions like this should be formed in a hypathetical sense, that way you dont get a ton of people wanting to know who it is which leads to post after post taking away from the real question. There is a simple solution, humans are the smartest beings on the planet and they know right from wrong. A scandelous cuemaker, buyer, seller.....etc is nothing more than a con and without informing people it will continue. Does the cuemaker and your friend live within driving distance, if so why not just go to their shop and be done with it. Maybe there needs to be a sticky started about things like this.

How many cuemakers post on here,

Sorry but thats all I can think off off hand

The OP didn't say the cuemaker posted here... just that he had a big rep here.

Wrong!... Not a court in this land would stand behind a defamation suit. Dean has a right to opine. If this guy has ripped someone off... he doesn't have a leg to stand on and should be outed.

The lack of response... or communication has gotten a lot of people in big time trouble. In Business... There is NO Excuse for lack of Response. Communication is Key.

Communication means nothing if all you get is lies from the cuemaker when you do communicate with him.

On the other hand, since we are dealing with pure speculation here, that "lack of response" thing could run the gamut all the way from Kevin Varney to Dennis Searing. In one case the maker might be avoiding his buyer, in the other case the maker might be so deep in his shop inventing a new way to glue wood that he can't respond.

Communication is important, but lets face it, in cue building, its the end result that's key.

Thanks

Kevin

There are two sides to every story. It seems unlikey an "outstanding" cuemaker would suddenly decide to rip off a customer.

Everybody else can get in the long line waiting to bash the cuemaker but I never liked long lines so until more information comes forth I'll reserve judgment.

Failure to communicate... whether it be to the buyer or to this thread can be disasterous to ones rep. If this cuemaker had communicated...we would not be having this discussion. As I said before... There is NO EXCUSE for lack of communication.. None!
