As I stated, your concern that I am "INCREDIBLY tolerant of scammers" is one of the reasons that make a good argument for not allowing sales is "blaming" you?
You have been making a lot of waves, on the board, through PMs and off the board and somehow, you feel that you are not connected to the problem directly?
Am I mistaken here?
Now I'm taking shots at you?
Mr. Wilson said:Like I said, I need the regular posters to help. If you guys see things that are wrong, peer pressure works.
I need the help from the community to keep AZB a safe place for someone to either buy or sell.
I think Aaron has gotten the shaft on this whole ordeal ( personally ). The guy came here and made an offer that a lot of people took him up on. He's trying to get something started and despite all the good reviews, people have a tendency to dogpile when they see an opportunity.
His phone number is in every post he makes. Everyone knows his real name and address.
.......But.........God forbid he make a mistake. Get a rope, he's a scammer and worse!
Everyone does all they can to get something, anything, cheaper...faster....Free!! The guy is trying to make a business and is offering a very reasonable price.
ONE person is unhappy and is getting a refund ( I guess not nearly fast enough ) but from there out, they should be able to denegrate the rest of his work?
Someone praises his work and the thread is trashed by someone dumping on it.
It's wrong and things are going to change one way or another.

alstl said:I agree, but threads like the one in question do serve a purpose. There are some people I would never sell a cue to because I know they would be demanding for me to pay for a refinish or a new wrap or something like that on a used cue. By allowing them to show their a$$ in public their character is revealed.

sore,
this whole transaction was doomed from the start. first, russ's finish is one of the worst in the whole buisness. his finish is WAY too thin. aaron is still in a learning mode right now. he didnt know this. HE never should have promised to keep the signature. thats his fault. BUT he payed for all that shipping to make it right. now the cue sat around as bare wood for 3 weeks in his shop, in russ' shop, and in the mail. dirt, dust got in the cue. now that it's signed, he can't clean it the way he wants, and didnt know there would be dust issues in the wood of your cue. YES his fault.
so that accounts for most of the time the cue was away from you and the finish issues. everyone agrees he messed up. DID YOU HEAR THAT RUNSCOTT? if the wrap was done poorly, then he messed up that too.
BUT, if he could have saved your signature, the finish would have been WAY better, i promise you. and if you were not happy about the wrap, he would have done it again at no charge. you would have had your cue back in a week or so like everyone else. i am truly sorry that this didn't work out for you.
but you have to understand this. everyone here knows he a beginner. that's why he gives such a great price. everyone here knows if he messes anything up, he will correct it. you guys PMed each other more than once a day throughout this whole ordeal. he was trying to keep you in the loop the whole time.
he has been doing some outstanding work for 95%+ of the AZers here. thats why these threads keep popping up.
i'm gonna let you in on another little secret too.
alot of people don't know this, but almost every top cuemaker reads these posts every week. i know alot of them, and they all say the same thing.
that they feel bad for aaron getting torched in public like this. cue repairs is a tough buisness. that's why these top cuemakers don't come here to post. they are afraid. you don't think for one second that all these top cuemakers have never made a mistake on cues before? and if they did, do you think they would want it on a public forum like this? they know not to promise signatures. they have done thousands of wraps. thats why they charge bigger money for their work. experience.
the way you handled yourself here but torching aaron in public reminds people not to do buisness here. it hurt everyone.
and if you say you wanted to protect everyone from aaron, well, he's been doing wood work for people 95%+ of the time. no one can deny this fact. single handed, you have destroyed his buisness. if you ever try to have a custom cue made by one of these top cuemakers who read this forum (and most do), don't be suprised if they say no.

PS: here is a pic of the wrap aaron just put on my bender, seam and all. flawless. thanks Aaron.

Having spent the last ten years in law enforcement, I'll just let you know. The little tiff between the two az'ers would not be a criminal investigation but would rather be a situation to be handeled through civil litigation. There was no type of fraudalant activity that had occurred but instead was a customer not being happy with a person's work.NOT A CRIME.If both parties did as stated, which both did,if the quality is not what is expected, then this is acivil matter. One should now what they are talking about before they post ludicrous non-sense on a reputable board.Have a good day.runscott said:Dave, we both can read.
I also realize that moderating a board is tough, and that, yes, there are going to be people who can fling it out, but then will whine to you when they get it back. That's fine, and also expected - we've seen that on this board more than once. But thanks for bringing that up.
Like yourself, I have better things to do than argue with someone I have never met. In the future I'll simply give the violated AZ'er the phone number of the local police department, along with the name of the detective with the case files. Hopefully that satisfies you.
Have a good weekend - it starts by turning off the computer.
This sounds like a darn good idea. Then if a compromise can't be reached,go to Mr. Wilson's thread and post what the problem was.jkmarshall_cues said:PLEASE Mr. Wilson save the for sale/wanted section. I have bought several items here also and love this section. The only wish I have is that hot heads handle their business privately. If they can't and need a referee then they should look you up Mr. Wilson. If all else fails and no resolution will ever happen then allow one he said/ she said flame out to occur. Once the dirty laundry has been thrown around then lock it up and kill it. I do have to admit there for a while I was actually laughing to myself at how childish the behaviors had become. Silly really. I am far from perfect and surely have upset others unfortunately and wish several times I could redo situations, but I am human and make mistakes too. Sorry!! That's life. IMHO
That's my 0.02 worth.
