Oh MY JOSH! you'll never do business with me, what will I ever do?

If you think he's the only one after these threads you're more out of touch with reality than I thought.

Was this before or after he created a thread saying you were bad to deal with?

There's no point in this... You deal however you feel.. It is your stuff..

Edited to add:
and I apologize for getting involved..

No, I do not have a say in your stuff.. My point was if you make a set deal I feel you should honor it. Especially after you have the buyers money in hand.

That's all I'm attempting to say. But we don't all deal the same way.

but you feel you should give negative rep?

Yes. I didn't hide about doing it. I told you I was going to. The Joe V. thing is over and done with and we are on good terms.. The deal was over a year ago.. I was also totally honest through it about the money for the two shafts.. Also my only "problem" for the 8 years I've been selling cues.. On eBay for a very long time and now here..

I saw it as a lame attempt to draw the current situation away from yourself and try to make me look bad for giving my opinion on how you conducted this deal.

I was completely done with posting in this thread about anything. I laughed at the video GoTulane posted as it was funny. Didn't have anything to do with your situation. and then you posted what you did.

Edited to add:
Once again I apologize for getting involved.

Well

I was curious at the length of the thread, so I looked.

I can understand being upset in not getting the cue, and really upset as STs are the real deal and as rare as diamonds. And to boot it was a great deal, deals that are too good to be true usually are.

Whether he wanted to keep the cue for himself or sell it to someone else that is his choice. (It gets done all the time, holding a buyer in your pocket then a higher offer comes in and it goes to the highest bidder. It happened to me on a motorcycle).

He did offer to send you the 50 dollars you claimed losing to make it right. You cannot ask for more than that.

My dealings with Phil have always been fast and fair, and he always represents things clearly and buys as much as he sells on the forum.

The question lies, if it happened to me, I would be upset but there is so many other things to do and to enjoy. Life is short.

All just my opinion for what its worth.

So you sold the cue to Wallace?

Surely your not trying to say that your getting PMs with people supporting you on your decision to renege on a deal after you had already been paid. To me it seems pretty obvious you feked this guy over for a few hundred dollars.

It isn't a big deal, I have plenty of custom cues and other Sugartrees are/will become available, it's the point of the matter.

So you're OK with a guy agreeing to a deal, taking your money in hand, not hearing from him from close to a week, him not following through on the deal, and then refunding the money - and all because he sold the cue out from under you? But even then he couldn't just man up and say so - he chose to come up with a lousy half-ass excuse.

Holding a potential buyer in your pocket isn't the same as taking their money and then afterwards selling the cue to someone else.

And just because holding a buyer in your pocket is done all the time doesn't by any stretch make it right.

I think people deserve to know what they're getting into when dealing with this guy. If I had known about something like this with him I never would have dealt with him in the first place.

No

Never said whether it was right or wrong...I did note you had the "right" to be upset for sure. As they say, this too shall pass. Time to move onward and upward.

I noted it happened with a motorcycle to me but I remembered after posting that it happened with a cue a few years ago. Here was the skinny, a buddy of mine, close buddy had a line for a Franklin Era SW, he told me he really didnt want it and would put me in contact with the owner. The owner didnt really know the value so I could get it for about 11-1200...the owner of the JF also liked Phillippi cues so I bought one just in case he wanted it to trade and cash. I find out after about 2 months of, oh I havnt seen him, that I traded him a Filipino cue and cash for the cue...and no JF for me, it sits in his case. The long and the short of it raw deals happen to everyone...at least you got your money back and it was quasi painless...and he offered to compensate your fifty. All I got was sorry...and everyone else said "it's just business".

He DOES have a say so...you moron. It's a public forum. This issue wouldn't have been made public had you conducted business in such a piss poor manner. Given the holiday weekend...I don't think he NEEDED to tell you it might take an extra day or two. You KNEW it was coming. YOU knew it was a holiday too. What...did you think the post office was going to make a special exception and deliver your mail on Sunday or Monday? The fact you'd already received the check before you decided to send it elsewhere is complete bull****. Not only will I not do business with you...but if I was asked or given a chance to solicit an opinion about whether it's a good idea to do business with you or not....I'd go out of my way to dissuade others from doing business with you. I don't care if you HAVE done a good deal or 10 in this place. It only takes one time before you're a bad business decision.

THIS TYPE OF THING IS BS... I HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO ME WITH SOME MORON FROM EVANSVILLE, IN. I LOST THREE DAYS OF WORK SCREWING WITH THAT JACKAZZ. 3 TIMES HE TOLD ME TO COME PICK UP THE CUE ( A FRANKLIN SOUTHWEST) AND THREE TIMES HE DIDN'T COME THROUGH ON THE CUE. WEAK BASTARD JUST DIDN'T HAVE THE BALLZ TO TELL ME HE SOLD IT OUT FROM UNDERNEATH ME.

You can soft soap this all day long, but it's just bad business, anyway you look at it. This is the kind of thing that gives this sport a black eye. Even though it's also prevalent in other sports and industries, pool just seems to draw this mentality of "screw you, I got mine". Then to have the gall to get back on the chatline and try to justify this kind of behavior... Jesus, do you really think people are this stupid?

I don't think it takes a friggen rocket scientist to figure this one out. Phil sold the cue, then found out he could get more money and so he had this huge moral dilema, follow through with the sale and be a stand up individual or limp out and make the extra money. Pretty simple which route he took. What bothers me is that he needs lame excuses to try to shift the blame (I don't wait two days to get my money, the buyer should have figured out it was Memorial Day, and blah, blah, blah)... and you talk about UGOTDA7 crying like a little girl? Stand up and say that you put a few bucks ahead of a good reputation. Simple as that...

I bought a cue off a guy on Ebay a couple of years back. He set the price for a "Buy It Now" sale. After he sold it to me, someone informed him he had a valuable cue. He let me pay for the cue and then decided not to send it to me. He emailed me and said that I could have the cue for three times the original asking price. I told him that I had a receipt for the cue and I would just appreciate him honoring our deal. I never got the cue, of course, but the thing that killed me was that this low life piece of crap tried to somehow make this deal MY situation. He said that if I'd have informed him about the value of the cue, he could have made a better decision about what to ask for it! He justified his actions because his family needed that money and rambled on about business being for profit, and blah, blah, blah (sound familiar?)... He also sent me my money back and felt I should just shut up about everything. [I've since learned that there is a law against selling stolen goods, and since I had the Paypal receipt, that's basically what transpired].

We tend to somehow equate arrogance with innocence? "If I put up this tough guy front and belittle a guy I already insulted by doing a bad deal with, that will make me look innocent and able to retain my respect on the chatline"! Aren't people that do shady business supposed to at least give us the courtesy of slinking away into the night under the cover of darkness and not coming back and rubbing our noses in it?

I have no dog in this fight, but I am tired of having my intelligence insulted. I'm sure I'll get some little "mind your own business" reply here, which I won't be following up on. I'll simply remove the party from my list of those to buy from or sell to... Life is too short!
