Passing of Jack Colavita

Fats dad was a Merchant Marine working the docks/east coast.
Fats had a pool room in his early yrs.
When he was a kid hangin out with dad at the docs probably 8 yrs old, when the lunch bell rang Rudolph was usually the first in line.
and when i had breakfast with him he had finished two giant full orders of everything before i was done with mine. as well as constantly talking.

and had the diner owner footing the bill.

Let me tell ya, six weeks after he died, I spent 1.5 days with Evelyn in Dowell IL, what a gal !!!!
She's heard more one liners that Johnny Carson ever said.
They had a GOOD 40 yrs of marriage.

fats was a great and kind guy. gave money to broke players never getting it back. gave money and care to animals.

only people that did not like him were those he beat and those jealous. along with mosconi because he got more attention.

Ev was eating her first meal with Fats and his road partner.
Fat's ordered her a steak.... Ev said, ''it covered the plate, like a sheet''.
She said each bite, both men's heads/eyes/followed.... going up/down :).
I think Ev was in early 20's.

Her quote as both grown men watched her cut/lift and eat each bite with her fork...
She said to herself................ "I knew I was into something'' somethin' big.

My YouTube algorithm just brought up a tournament with Jack playing a match. I forget who he was playing as I didn't have time to watch it.
I'll bet it was with Ray Martin, the 1989 U.S. Open in Chicago. It's the only footage of Colavita in a tournament that I've seen.

Oops, I see a nine ball match Jack was in above too. I'll have to watch that. Jack was mainly straight pool.
