Jack, The Movie Star

Great photos, Cuetable, thanks. Most don't know of Jack's movie career. It didn't include GWTW type films but he did star with Minnesota Fats in the 1971 pool flick, "The Player".

Note the cast members below the photo.

THANKS - I was there friday night & watched Tony's 96 ball run. Shame he kicked in a scratch. I won't be able to make it today ... can anybody give me a brief update of saturdays matches & whats in store today (and if anybody has anything for Barouty) ... many thanks.

n Saturday, Thorsten had not one, but two HUGE, UNFINISHED RUNS. First was a 150 and out and the second was a 152 and out. Both runs were captured on video, and after his own commentary will be added, I believe they will be for sale on DVD through his site, thorstenhohmann.com. Please check his site for updates and availability.

Thanks for the update, man I wish I could have seen that (I"ll look for the video). Any other upsets or memorable matches ? Thanks again -

John

this update just in. Danny Barouti missed, needing just 14, against thorsten. TH needed 89, and he promptly ran out, again.

IMO, Thorsten is "in stroke"

Tony Robles won. Ran about 63 and out to win. I was keeping score for Tony's 96 ball run Friday night and he was playing fantastic. The shot that ended the run was great, and the scratch kind of came out of nowhere.

Robles

Tony Robles won. (All the way on the winner's side)
2nd - Thorsten Hohmann (former champion)
3rd - Tom Walter (defending champion)
4th - Danny Borouty (former champion)

I'm sure there will be more details posted, but for now I think all the players (and the spectators), are catching some rest after an incredible day of 14.1.

Tony and Thorsten had an epic see-saw battle in the final which lasted almost 5 hours.

Thanks for sharing the pics cuetable. Those two pics of Hohmann's scoresheets for the big runs were cool to see.

Very nice to see Tony take it, he is well deserving.

Nice showing for Tom Walter too. He and Danny Barouty are both extremely good guys.

Congratulations, Tony. Well played.

What a final four! Robles, Hohmann, Barouty and Walter.

Robles, Hohmann and Barouty are established superstars of straight pool, but
Tom Walter may not be a household name to most of you, even though he won this event last year. He is a fine veteran player, and I was there watching when he beat the great Joe Balsis back in 1981 at the World Straight Pool Championships. The year before (1980), Balsis had gotten all the way to the final before losing to Mike Sigel, who won his first World title.
