DId anyone catch the article on the front page of AZB re: the flack one of the Stable Sponsors is getting? There seems to be an allegation that he keeps 40% of winnings and that is deemed excessive by___(whom?)__.

Like any true businessman, he let on that running a stable is a lo$ing venture.

40% for a guaranteed salary, all expenses paid, lodging and not having to sweat getting staked in matches.
This is a terrible deal for the players how?

Perry takes care of all their expenses and has them on salary.
The players aren't complaining.
 
All expenses paid plus a salary and the players only give up 40%???

They make a big deal of the 40% but what they don't mention is that the managers don't charge the salary, given these players, against their winnings. Unlike the PBDF contract that they (BSCP-RAYA-PBDF) even flaunted in their text messages which charges back salaries paid against the players' winnings. Do the math.

Bugsy's for example: 30k pesos/ month for 1 year is 360,000 Pesos + 300,000 Pesos which is the players 60% of the 500,000 first prize (200,000 is the 40% that went to the manager). Total net take home for the player for that year is 660,000 Pesos! Bugsy: -360,000+200,000= -160,000+++ ie ADDT'L LOSSES FOR entry fees, travel expenses, etc

PBDF: 30,000 Pesos/month for 1 year is 360,000. Deduct this from the player's winning of 500,000 Pesos and the player only nets 140,000 plus the salary advances for the year of 360,000= 500,000!! PBDF= 0 They used the players for free for their advertisements and leverage with sponsors!

So who's complaining of the 40% manager's cut? Who's really making money off of the players! Another deception on their part!

Picture from this morning's (10am) meeting of the GAB (Games and Amusement Board) Chairman Eric Buhain and some members of the BMPAP. BMPAP is now the recognized association governing all matters concerning professional pool here in the Philippines. While BSCP is the recognized NSA(National Sports Association) under the POC (Philippine Olympic Commission) task to develop grassroot programs and nominate and train players to represent the Philippines in the Asian and Southeast Asian Games (Amateur).

Let on? Perry has a net loss of P37,000,000.00 (US$913,580.25) for the support he has given pool here.

holycrap, I think I know one of those virtual unknown youngsters in the background. I think it was in farmers some years ago. man, I guess that a simple hobby could turn up to be a profession. wonder if he was able to finish his highschool, since his classroom is the poolhall.

Edwin! Thanks for your input. I congratulate Perry for his awareness of the truth, as well as his ability to produce it! I didn't mean to infer that his 'let on' was negative in any way. When these types of matters arise, a little math goes a long way!!
 
PhP30,000/mo goes a long way for these players. This is about the same salary as that in the middle management position in a good company:)
 
Thanks for all the info, Bandido. It's better to hear about these things first hand from someone with real knowledge on the matter.

When this all came out, I was worried what this would do for the state of pool in the Philippines which seemed to finally be on the verge of an upswing. Yen Makabenta has been quite successful bringing the sport to mainstream attention with the recent staging of the WPC in the Philippines. However, what was done to Alex Pagulayan is clearly despicable, although we still don't know the real reasons behind it.

I just hope all the powerplay (if that is indeed what is behind all this) would soon end with each group treating the other with mutual respect and working together to bring the sport to further heights.

Again, congratulations on the formation of the BMPAP! It's about time something like this was created to avoid all the troubles of the past.

PS: Is it true that Renemar David really crossed fences to the other side? How was that like for you personally? What would have his reason for doing so? Also Marlon Manalo's and Gaga Gabica's? Thanks in advance....
