There shouldn't be a problem with BMPAP cooperation if everything is, as you say, A-OK (honky-dorry).

I'm just wondering how the BMPAP players got the "short end of the stick" in the previous two WPC held in the Philippines.[/QUOTE]

Phil Pool doesn't revolve around WPC Jay, so, just drop the WPC idea. Even if a 3rd WPC is held here that doesn't change or make the problems here disappear. What the players want is equal opportunity and not a dictator who chooses whoever does his bidding to fill alloted slots to represent the country in international competition. These slots should be filled through Qualifying tournaments and not through nomination.

That's all water under the bridge now because the Philippines' has its pool structure straightened out now. And how many times do I have to say it? BSCP is an NSA accredited by the POC (Philippine AMATEUR SPORTS Governing Agency). While the BMPAP is accredited by the GAB (Philippine PROFESSIONAL SPORTS Governing Agency)

No sense really talking about the past now as the Law of the Land, PD 871 (see link provided in my previous reply) has stepped in. We, the BMPAP, has moved on and have left the turmoil behind. We've already held 2 tournaments for lower ranked players and soon will hold a Major one on March 14-19. We're already working on the operational plans for the San Miguel Tour, the Makati 9-Ball Championship, the Cebu Sun Star 9-Ball Championship, Dumaguete 9-Ball Championship, Davao Kadayawan Festival 9-ball Championship, the Philippine Professional Billiard League, the San Miguel Barangayan Fiesta Pro-Am play with the locals and the Philippine 10-Ball Championship. The twice-a-month tournament for the lower ranks will also resume after the San Miguel Corp. Quezon City 9-Ball Championship and will go on 'til the end of the year when we'll also have a grand Final tournament of the 16 top points finishers.

As you can see, the year's schedule is pretty much full and needs our attention. And to top it all, we are assisting players for their trips to the Japan Open on March 23 and World 8-Ball Championship Qualifiers on April 12. The BMPAP-BSCP issue is far gone and we, the BMPAP, have moved on Jay.

I agree!!! All these meetings and working on documents, operational plans, logo and invitation card designs 'til the wee hours of the morning should be wearing me down. I don't feel it though. By the way, I'm checking out one of the links to AP that you've provided. I also listen to GNR Jungle Land Live while doing all the 'puter work. It does help me keep going. Thanks AD.

She could give Britney the 7 and the 8 at singing! When she sings it brings tears to my eyes. Just watch some of her performances. :)

Kind of like a healthy Whitney Houston, pre Bobby Brown druggie days.

Charice Pempengco is only 14 years old and she is already a great singer. She was abandoned by her father when her brother and her were just babies and their mother supported them by herself. This girl is destined for stardom and is going to be very rich one day if handled properly. Here are my favourite videos of her:

THE ABOVE IS EDWIN'S RESPONSE TO ME. BELOW IS MY RESPONSE TO THE ABOVE.

Well Edwin, you kind of answered me, but not really. I asked you very direct questions about issues you yourself brought up regarding the WPC, past and present. And your response is that it is all taken care of now.

You also put words in my mouth, saying that I said everything was A-OK or whatever. If I truly believed that, I wouldn't be asking these questions. I appreciate the fact that you have worked long and hard to form the BMPAP and begin producing tournaments. I know how difficult that can be. And I commend you for it. It looks like your plate is full, with a multitude of great tournaments on the horizon. Hopefully, I will get to visit during some of them.

I guess my real question is exactly what did Raya (and Yen) do that you consider unethical or underhanded. My understanding is that they were paid enough money by the Philippine government to cover the prize fund for the WPC. If the prize fund is $400,000, then that is approx. 18 to 20 million pesos each of the last two years. If I have been misled about this, I would like to know.

Like you, I don't think any one person should have the authority to chose the players who represent their country in International competitions. A qualifying system that is fair to all is the best method. I also witnessed the Qualifiers held at Star Paper the last two years for the WPC. They were tough, but fair.

The San Miguel Tour and the other events are certainly important, but there is only one WPC each year. Hopefully it will once again be held in the Philippines. I wish it was there every year.

Good luck to you with your endeavors Edwin. If I can be of help to you over here, let me know.

Okay, we already know the Philippines produces the best pool players. And maybe the best prizefighters now as well. So now we see the best young singers coming from the PI also. I want to know what's going on over there. It can't be the water. :)

Jay, the A-Ok part was part of my answer to your question below
jay helfert said:
But to do it again this year, they need to go through your organization, the BMPAP. To get the necessary government permits, they must first have BMPAP approval (sanctioning) now. Is there something I'm missing here?
Do you think that it'll be worth producing a tournament here if the lkes of Efren, Django, Alex, Ronnie, Dennis, Lee Van, Joven, Roberto, etc don't play in their planned tournament? That's why I said that if the BMPAP find that everything in their production meet the BMPAP's expectations and gets our approval, thus being A-OK, then they'll get our cooperation. So, No, I didn't put words in your mouth.

What led to the formation of the BMPAP was a combination of a number of issues.
1. The player selection for the recent, and all the past, Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games). People wanted, specifically Perry for the most recent one, a qualifying tournament be held to determine Philippine representation. That never happened because Yen and Ernie Fajardo decided who to send there. They, Yen and Ernie, even had an argument about Marlon Manalo being included in pool too aside from snooker. Yen didn't include Marlon in pool but Ernie insisted that he wanted Marlon in it too! After he, Ernie, declared that in the meeting he stood up and huffed away leaving the meeting. Perry was insisting on holding a qualifier between the top 16 players of the country to avoid such argument but was ignored! So since these were the President and Chairman of BSCP argueing and rejecting his Qualifier idea he thought to just sit back and watch what unfolds in this power play. End of story on that meeting is "No qualifier and Marlon gets to play in pool and snooker thus kicking out one other player that could've filled that pool event slot".

The 10M report is another long story, the maliscious text messages against us, the Alex Pagulayan banning, the creation of PBDF and pirating of players from different stables, the free use of Gov't facilities by RAYA for its productions, the Yen Makabenta statement "lazy and incompetent" referring to his BSCP co-officers, the YM statement to Perry about making millions in pool, YM statement "Why give the Ranking Tour Production and Profit to BSCP when They, RAYA and Bugsy, can just have that event and sponsor money to themselves, the claim that they, BSCP and RAYA, made the players who the players are now when people very well know that the so-called (YMs press release term) "Gambler-Managers" were the ones who helped these players in their carreers, the non-payment of government permit fees for the 2007 WPC, the non-payment of players' allowances for YM's private production "Pool Showdown", the non-qualifier selection of Philippine representatives to the Guinness Tour, the holding of the World 8-Ball qualifier when some of the top players are in Thailand for the Brunswick Open and only to invited (their selection) players, ......

So, did you think that it was just regarding their non-declaration of funds? I even personally know that the PSC's documented reply, to our legal cousel BMPAP President's BSCP fund inquiry, about supplied funds to BSCP was false because the Trading Firm supplier of their snooker cues for the recent SEA Games got the cues from me! And I know that they, the trading company, had to tack on a profit. The "equipment expense" on that PSC document, stating funds supplied to the BSCP, was HALF of their Trading Company/PSC Supplier's acquisition price! The figure was made-up to show minimal financial support to the BSCP! They've gone so far as to falsify reports of public funds disbursement! Why?!! Is our asking about BSCP funds, government supplied funds to RAYA (through the BSCP?) and reason for non-existance of a grassroot program (because of BSCP's usual reply of "no government funding") opening a can of worms?

Go through online Philippine newspaper articles, it is not just pool that is in turmoil in that Amateur Sports Branch of this Government (Amateur Taekwondo and Chess Associations are real hot right now). At least, we did something and doing something about it! The other Sport associations are having a hard time because they're so fragmented unlike Pool where the Professional Players/Managers groups are united against the Amateur Association, BSCP, that keeps trying to want to control Professional Pool here in the Philippines to benefit a private firm, RAYA.

We actually do Jay. We need equipment partners for our events and people who can hold Qualifiers there for our major events and productions here. The Brunswick, Brunswick Metro reproduction, Aramith, Predator distributor here is allied with the other group and I honestly don't have any experience in approaching equipment manufacturers about event partnerships and possibility of dealership/distribution deals with our interested member's companies. I can try to learn but I do need 72 hours a day. I make cues in the morning and contact local businesses in the mornings, meetings early evenings and document work, organizational plans and logo/poster/invitation designs in the wee hours (maybe I can stick "calling overseas entities somewhere in the wee hours stretch).

I'm also looking for somebody to take charge of a US company sponsored 6-man USA Team for the 2nd season of our Professional Billiard(Pool) League.

Thank you for the offer to help Jay.

Jay's the man

i guess that's why you have such great reputation jay, because you don't take side specially if one is wrong.....you've always been for pool and i know you'll keep it that way- pure....it makes decission making much easier and people will see it when you don't have ulterior motive...

...way to go Jay...Mabuhay ka....pls. do support edwin--they have good intentions too,--nothing monetary--it's for the ;love of the game...he gave his whole life for pool just like you and others like maybe ole grady...

..i really admire you guys...i also talked to edwin and i'm willing to help in any way i can....:) .

...on the other hand --come to think of it..the reason for all this good things happening for some pinoys is water--:D :D you're right jay..it's water....:D :D
..water there is so bad that pinoys wants to get out of there and come to the US where water is good;) ;) ;) ;)
