Places Accomplished Players Play/Gamble in Tampa Florida?

I ran into a couple last night that are from Tampa and wanted to know a good place to watch some high level players. They have been watching us play at Volcano's here in Hurst Tx and were looking for someplace similar that had good players in Tampa.

Tampa was my home back in the mid 80s, so I was familiar with Bakers, and of course it's shut down now. ClearWater Fl. had a couple of places that I used to go, although all my info is very outdated.

Any help would be appreciated for these folks, they both have a heart of gold.
 
Not sure there are any good action rooms left in Tampa. Haven't been around that scene in many years. I miss the good old days of Bakers in Tampa or Spatz and Jimmy's in Orlando.
 
Strokers on Hwy 19 they have US AMATUER there and across the bay in Clearwater I want to say something cue some good players to be found there
 
Strokers in Palm Harbor came up already...

On any given night you can stroll into Strokers after 11pm and you never know who you might see there. In the last year I've seen "known-name" players like Donny Mills, Tony Crosby, Jason Klatt, Justin Hall, Corey Duell, and Mike Davis hitting balls there. And from that list, I'd say that Donny Mills (lives in Clearwater) is probably the most regular, but still erratic visitor... Not sure if Donny has an other, regular room he goes to. I imagine he does.

There is another player who frequents Strokers much more regularly than the list mentioned above and deserves mention, but I'm not sure if he want's his name out there and it's really not my place to out him...

Even the Strokers APA league nights have some very strong players worth watching.

Let's just say, that if you want to watch some quality pool, you can find it at Strokers just about any night of the week.

Regarding the Tampa side of the Bay, I've heard that there are good players and action at Fatso's, but it's not in a good neighborhood. Go at your own risk. LOL!

We may have met before. I expect we'll look at each other and go "oh, you're that guy...." LOL

I'm 90% sure I'm going to be playing in that straight pool league next session. Especially if another of my APA teams gets busted up due to top-heavy handicaps.

Donnie plays out of Crooked Cue, which is only a few miles from his car lot.
He was in there just last week when I was there. Pretty sure CJ could get action from him or Justin.

Like just about every city and town in the U.S, action is dead because pool action between blue collar workers is dead. Probably 80% of players in poolrooms years ago were blue collar workers. When the companies went to China and most blue collar jobs here are preformed by robots...most of the action dried up too. Tampa is dead for action now. In the 70's and 80's there was action in the Tampa Bay area all over the place. Johnnyt

There's still action you just have to play good to win.
