Race to 9 in 9 ball ghost, who won?

Thanks for playing my friends! And for being honest.

I hadn't had a chance to play lately. It is incumbant upon OP me to get on the table and post my effort. Playing one to two sets for $10 once every 3 weeks on a GC 3 hasn't been kind to my game, lol. I'd have a chance beating that sneaky, no missing SOB, but if I were on the rail, I'd take him right now and lay 3:2.

let me know when you play so I can sweat the match :)

The ghost beats me on average 9-4 on a 9 footer with 4 1/8" pockets. I pattern rack, soft break and use the Magic Rack.

Mr Ghost is an evil master.

I lost to the ghost a couple of hours ago. 13 ball on pro cut diamond. I am a slight favorite over the 12 ball ghost though.

Haven't tried in a month or two

Been playin' a lot and hittin' them pretty good. Went out the other night and couldn't really get any action. Drank a few beers and felt a little cocky so I offered to play the ghost $200 a set and didn't have any takers. Doesn't mean I would have won, but nobody would gamble.

This was on a fast 9' with semi easy pockets and I think it was smart not to bet against me. On my 9' Diamond Pro at home, it's a much tougher task for me to beat the ghost. I think the ghost is a 55-60% favorite on my table.

I'm working a lot of hours everyday right now so I don't have time to play a set. If I play the ghost in a week or two, I'll report back with a score. Playing the ghost makes me bare down in practice like it's a money game. That ghost is a tough opponent and never loses when you don't play up to par. If you play good you've got a chance, but it's never easy.

Hope I didn't knock my action. It really doesn't matter though, because nobody seems to have much gamble in Knoxville. Not trying to sound like a high roller, but I like to throw several hundred into action and sometimes a grand.

Good thread OP, Jerry

That's pretty sporty Mike  I met you a while ago in one of the APT events, did you move to florida? The field's definitely a little easier without you.

Mike might have a little game, lol.

I'm wondering if he moved to Vegas for BB. Good to see him posting. Every time I've seen him he's always been a perfect gentleman.

Mike Davis is a good example of what's RIGHT about pool.
...he conducts himself like a golf pro (no, not Tiger)

So...Mike gets the bread with the 'dozen ghost'....
....but not the 'baker's dozen'....

Go to the 14-ball ghost, Mike.....13 is an unlucky number.

Just played the ghost on my home table. Triple shimmed K-Steel and won 9-4, then carried on to 15 and just scraped through 15-12. 3 point break rule and a magic rack with random racking. Not beaten the ghost by that much in a race to 9 in a long time even though my practice is 90% vs the ghost.

The bad thing about threads like this one:

I knew my game was suck, but this thread hammers home just how pathetic my game really is. :sorry:

Thanks guys (the ghost-beaters). I think I'll go drink myself to death.

Maniac (can that be done with Dr. Pepper???)

Voted for owning Casper. Would typically beat the 9 ball ghost at least 50% of the time on equipment I normally play on (9' Diamond or tournament GC), probably get close on most attempts when I lose, with a few of those 9-3 or 9-4 type scores thrown in when the balls don't break well or I don't play well.

10 ball ghost is tougher, when I've played 10 games and kept score of balls made ala Dr. Dave's rules, I will typically have 4 - 6 run outs, not quite good enough to win in a race to 9 or 10. A work in progress... :)

Thanks for all the nice comments guys. I have moved to Vegas for bonus ball and will most likely return to MD when it's over. I've actually won one cheap set against the 14 ball ghost on a gandy with huge pockets but that was a fluke. It breaks way tougher than 13 and I am definitely an underdog already vs 13. I think I'll get the best of it soon though. There's good tables in Vegas at 24 hour pool halls so I think I'll improve a little while I'm out here.

i won 9-6 on a brunswick with 4.5ish pockets. i have a decent 9 ball break, but when i play the 10 ball ghost im trying to run 9 or 10 balls most of the time so i dont fair quite as well...

Played the ghost on saturday and lost 8-9. Played him again tonight and lost 7-9. Hung two 8 balls tonight . I plan on playing the ghost on thursday. Will report how it ends up.

Kick it's ass Luke! Thanks for contributing!

KK9 <-- hadn't played in almost a month :(

Took him down on the third try... can I revote?
Also would be interested to see how many here can take down his Casper's big brother, the 10-ball ghost.
