Played Snooker with Fatboy last night,

Fatboy has been kind enough to let me stay at his place while I am here in Las Vegas. He showed me around his property a little last night and we got to the game room. Obviously we had to play a little we started with a quick game of 9 ball, then onto 8 ball then he brought out the Snooker balland cues. I have not played snooker in quite some time but i was excited at the thought of playing. Even though we were not playing on the 12fter his diamond worked fine to get back into the game. Anyway we finished playing and bsing at around 2.30am I did knock in a 67 break that Fatboy keeps reminding me shoulf have been a century as the balls were opened up pretty well. I hope that we can play again tonight. I have the snooker bug back if you have never played you have to try it. Thats all, a lame thread I know just had a great time and wanted to share. .

Not lame at all (and quite pool-related!). Glad to hear Fatboy is able to get back to the table, and that he's got friends like you supporting his recovery.
Thanks for sharing!

i never really got into snooker but i'd like to try it. i think i didn't like it because at the level i play at it seems to make missing acceptable

Not a lame thread at all my friend. Glad to hear you are having a good time in Vegas. Have you had a chance to go down to the Riv and check out the action?:)

I've now made it 148, but I found it funny

When I posted this, this thread had 147 views. I found it funny that the topic was on snooker and there were exactly 147 views..

I was shooting today at the hall and wanted to shoot some snooker (never have) and it would be cool to take a stab at Schmidt's high run of 116 or 118 I think it was. Never did get to shoot on it though:(

I watched a little of Corey's match when he was using the rest to break and al ittle of Steve Moore. Today is going to have some good matches I think.

It was a 67 break on a pooltable, with snookerballs? Right?

You should have tried the real snookertable.
Yes it was on a pool table so it did make it much easier, the game is so different to pool and just to change my mindset away from 9 & 10 ball was mentally a good thing. Fatboys snooker table is in pieces still, looks like a really nice one though.

I have gotten the snooker bug lately. I found a place that lets me play on a 12' table for free as long as I buy lunch. Needless to say I have been having 4 hours sessions a couple times a week.

Two things really stick out-

  • Safety play is much easier in snooker than pool. Always fun to play a good snooker on your opponent.
  • If you switch to pool after playing snooker pocketing balls feels like hitting them down the grand canyon. I think in the future I will prepare for tournaments by playing snooker.

he dogged it, it should have been a 100-120 break easilly, :p it was a nice break, i felt ok and won the first game, the second game my back was on fire and I just blasted the stack open and missed and Mark made a good break. He is a abetter snooker player than I am for sure, the balls didnt bank to funny on the Daimond considering they are to small. The 12' table is 2 rooms away laying there in pieces, we wernt in the mood to set it up so wh played on the 9' box. I took some pain meds and an hour later we playd again and I got beat, I cant get down low enough on the snooker cue, i'm not fit to play yet. but it was fun.

yeah with your back and my lack of enthusiasm to do any manual labor there was no way we were even beginning to set up the 12fter. jay took my $$ at 9 ball last night too. This seems strange that I am talking to fatboy on here when I am living at his place for the next day or so. However the compound is 20 acres and I am in the one of the small houses on the property. The small house id 6 bed and 6 bath by the way and if you have never been here it is amazing. jay Helfert is staying here too and I keep getting lost around here. Anyway, having a blast and I will give Fatboy 20 pts start for a hunsky race to 7.

I FINALLY got to play snooker!!:p It is a very tough game, but I sure did enjoy every bit of it. I got hammered by the local snooker player but I enjoyed learning how to play from him and we shot for a few hours before I left. Boy those balls sure do fly off the rail! If you dont hit center pocket you wont make a ball!

I dont know who has a snooker table in Bama, but I know I will play snooker again.
