Player Roster for Predator World 14.1 Championship

I NEVER Break My Word

What about ol' Grad, who is able to attend?

Yeah, Charlie. you could make a whole bunch of new fans and spectators if you'd get off you high horse ass and simply invite Mr. Grady Mathews to this event. Why, you might even become a hero to AZBers.
Doug
( invite Grady and I promise to never say another bad word about you or any of your events )

I second the motion....

Doug,
Wonderfully stated. The only part I personally can't agree with is the "hero" part. For CW to gain more accolades, he should OPEN his closed events to champions such as Grady, Earl, ect.

But, to CW's credit, he IS promoting 14.1. And for that, I do whole heartedly commend and thank him.

Didn't Grady bash Charlie pretty hard in the past? I saw some of the postings and have to say I cant really blame him for not wanting someone who hates him that much to be there at his event.
My impression of Williams is that he doesn't pay much mind to pleasing people who dislike him, whether Grady or AZer's. Maybe they'll be another 14.1 event that Grady and his AZer followers can attend.
despite missing Grady, it looks like a superstar field and Hohmann's going to have a tough time defending his title!

I would like to know if Sigel, Ray Martin, or Dallas West was invited. Few of the iconic 14.1 players still alive.
It's sad to see Rempe retired.
Any word?

I'm Only Sorry That I'm Unable To Attend

Perhaps Grady has said something about Charlie, so what ? I don't remember it, but it wouldn't surprise me either. I've been around pool and poolplayers for over 40 years and seen and heard them do some amazing things to each other.
I've seen them woof, argue, fight, insult each other (and their relatives), steal from each other, cheat each other, rob each other and even KILL each other. But, I've also seen them challenge each other, gamble with each other and play each other in tournaments..... AFTER doing any or all of the above.
They're poolplayers afterall and a unique group of individuals. AZBers are cut from the same cloth. We argue and fight and scream and curse and threaten and still show up each day to climb back into the sandbox.
I still think Charlie could be man enough to invite Grady and not make any enemies by doing so. Acting like a petulant child doesn't benifit anyone... imo
Doug
( I've even heard of poolplayers making off with other player's significant others and living to talk about it...... and often regretting it ) :)

C'mon Charlie, invite Grady. Do it for the fans and SPECTATORS.

this is just the confirmed list. many invited players have unfortunately declined or are still contemplating.

I spoke personally to alex and marlon, both can't attend (as is the same for some other philipinos) because of an event already commited to in asia.

rg

PS, Mika is coming, and i believe ralf too.

Nick Varner?

I see Tom Walter is in the confirmed list. Did he win a qualifier or get an invite? He is another very good player from here in NYC.

One more time! C'mon Charlie, whatever has to be done, find a way to invite Nick and Grady to this tournament--please! And don't forget Ray Martin!

The field just got a whole lot stronger! Good work Charlie. What's up with Nick? Is there something I'm missing? And it's too bad you can't get Jimmy Rempe to come out of retirement for a Straight Pool event. He'd still be near the top of this field. I won't talk about Sigel.

Jay and VIProfessor, Charlie Williams wrote this above, "FYI:
Varner was invited and not able to come."

Now, if he would only write this below, "Grady Mathews is invited."

Doug
( waiting patiently for word of Grady's inclusion )

FYI:
Varner was invited and not able to come. Archer's new baby due on turnament dates. Zuglan is invited and hasn't confirmed.
Rempe announced he is retired as of a year ago.
Taiwan declined their invites. Reyes was not able to attend.

Sorry Charlie, I missed this post.

Don't invite me! I'm not coming! And don't beg!
My high run may be only 72, but I can duck with the best of them. :)

Rempe is in Scranton. On occasion, he competes in the Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour, which is up in his neck of the woods. AND he did come in second place at Gene Hooker's Trump Marina 10-Ball Championship in Atlantic City, New Jersey, 3 or 4 years ago.

However, after he pocketed the complimentary 30 grand awarded to all BCA Hall of Famers at the first IPT event in Orlando in December 2005, he then bowed out for the next two and last of the IPT events.

I think that he mentioned that he suffers from low back pain on occasion, but I do not know if that is a deterrent for him competing.

Mike Zuglan is another player who's known for his straight pool skills! I think he did play in the last 14.1 tourney.

Hello Charlie,

Markus from Eurowest here... Just a nosy question

Why did "Taiwan declined their invites" ???? This reads strange....because of the oppotunity given to excel at on of the best games there is....

Regards,
Markus

Wow Dennis, Mark made it back on top after losing to Tom? THAT IS simply incredible mettle. His stock sure just went up in my books. And he must have done well to best the likes of Cozzolino, Mohl and Corbett. At least it was worth the drive from Ohio.

Cozzolino got beat by Corbett and Treff.

Corbett got beat by Mohl on Saturday and Mark S. on Sunday while Mohl was getting beat by Karabotsos.

Mark then beat Mohl.

Not bad for Mark on a few hours sleep.

Tom K. said he is practicing every day now.
