Playing the center of the table

Any information or articles regarding using the diamonds to play position/plan routes to and through the center of the table? I thought I remember reading about it on here but my searches are coming up empty.

Get Bert Kinister's video, 6o minute workout. If the CB passes thru the center of the table coming off a rail it will not scratch in a corner pocket. And if you think about it any ball going thru the center off any rail will not scratch in any pocket.

try dr. dave's wep book 2.

he refers to the centre of the table a lot. just not sure if he makes references to the diamonds

Look for Dr. Dave's stuff on pool.bz in the instructional section. The one pointer I think I remember correctly is that if you come off the short rail at 45 degrees, the CB will cross the center of the table after it hits off the second (long) rail. It may have been with running english. There are probably many other, more complicated methods, but that one is simple, so it stuck!!

I find it is easier to find the center of the table by concentrating on the amount of energy put into the CB.

The diamonds and spin on the CB can conspire to make finding the CoT hard or easy--depending.

Pro book or video

Bob Henning covers 16 main shots for center of the table. Burt Kinister make it into 30 shots. The 30 can be covered in Hennings 16 shots. In think I would get the Pro Book. It may be the best $50 I spent.

This is covered succinctly yet thoroughly in Dr. Dave's excellent Video Encyclopedia of Pool Shots. Disk II, shots 290, 341 and 342 are demonstrated in the video linked above.

You'll be glad you did.

A back ground in 3-cushion helps a lot with the ball track. I started with 14.1, then 3-cushion, then the rotation games. The 3-cushion helped me a lot in the other games. If I were to start playing today I'd add Snooker to the first 2. Johnnyt

I agree fully. The Pro Book really helped me a couple years ago with my position play through the center of the table.

As JohnnyT so helpfully pointed out - some understanding of 3 cushion
will help a ton. The most basic of the 3C 'Diamond' systems will give you
a solid understanding of how to move the CB around the table. They have
the added value of also detemining all those paths that don't happen
to go thru the center of the table.

When in doubt, ask Bob Jewett.

This link will take you to a series of articles by the distinguished
Mr. Jewett. Some of them deal with Diamond systems, some with other
valuable info.

A link to the other doctor:

Videos and more from Dr Dave - enough to keep you occupied for a few years.

Bob Byrne also does a great job explaining the concept in his books
and videos.

PJ,

It's good to see you back on the forum, especially when you write nice stuff like this.

I was on vacation for a week, so I guess I missed your return to the forum.

Regards and welcome back,
Dave
