Please play again jean balukas !

after reading jean's wiki stats she didn't have a whole lot of high runs in those straight pool tournaments.
Well I couldn't find much more info but as an example, Willie Mosconi's Highest Grand Average per inning for a tournament was 18.34. His highest run in a tournament play was 127.

Funny how the competition effects your play. If I remember right, Jeans averages were mostly or nearly double the field.

I asked her a few yrs back not if or when she would play again but why she wouldnt...lets say there is next to no chance of seeing her compete again. I for one would love to see her return, as much as Id like to see earlier mentioned Bonnie Hoffman return but its just not gonna happen.

I agree Jean will never entertain playing any women (Allision, Karen, etc). She won 13 straight tournaments in a row. She outclassed her peers at the time and they all knew it.

I believe that Jean wanted to become one of the best players in the world (men or women). When she lost the ability to play on the mens tour (created to keep her out) she had had enough (IMO).

I would like someone to entertain her into playing one of the men champions of her time. Mike Siegel vs Jean Balukas would be a great event and I think Jean might go for that. 9 Ball race to 30. Although both of them have diminished skills it still would be a great event. This would give Jean the opportunity to prove that she could play with the best of her time (something she never had a chance to do).

I think any TV network would want this and the money for both of them would be huge.

One more thing, I really believe that Jean would of eventually won one of the Mens tournaments if would of been allowed to play.

I'd really like to see some videos of her play. anyone know where i can find some videos? from what i hear she was a champion that the pool world wouldn't give a chance. she quit because she wasn't allowed to play with the men... BS imo

I got mine from Jay, send him a PM. Good luck

What's in it for her?
That is the same question I would ask. I would doubt her game is up to the speed it was in her younger years. So she would not be in her prime and would most likely not be able to come back and dominate. She retired after winning 16 straight tournaments. So why should she allow anyone to ever say anyone was able to best her regularly?
As long as she stays away she will be the Mosconi of womens pool. All will forever speculate about whether Allison or Karen or any of the other could have beaten her. Just like Mosconi's 526 run is the mark to beat. Her 16 in a row major tournament wins will be the mark another will have to beat to say they dominated as well as she did.
A guy I know said he went into Jeans pool room several years ago and asked her to play a race to 100 straight pool to pass the time. He said when she pocketed the first ball that she ran the whole 100 out. He proceeded to ask her why she does not play professionally again? She replied, "For what?" No one has given her a good enought answer to that yet. The top women players probably make less travelling the country than she does running her pool room. So the question about her returning is still, "For what?"

She quit because the women fined her for being a little mouthy during a match, and she refused to pay the fine and they refused to allow her to play until she paid. She was so far ahead of the pack that they usually were betting on who would get second to Jean instead of who would win. A few of the women had started coming close to beating her in the end, but she still was the favorite by a long shot.
I saw her play in a men's Pro event shortly before she retired. She beat Miz and a couple of other pro's, but still went out in the middle of the field. But being in the middle of the field in a major open tournament is a feat few women have accomplished.
