btw, from a technical standpoint, the margin for error on many 3C shots
is HUGE

berberov is correct
Any form of billiards can be very boring to watch, Carom is BY FAR the most
boring of all of em and a terrific cure for insomnia
furthermore, carom players are SECOND RATE cue artists, ANY top nine ball
or snooker player could smoke them at 3C with very little practice
Like any cuesport, there are a couple 3C guys that could compete with the real cue artists
Finally, if you want to play carom so bady, either buy a carom tablem or if you're broke buy a used 7 footer and some pocket inserts

you appear old enough to remember hooked on phonics right, lol
I'm sorry but I have a tough time dealing with simpletons, that is strictly my shortcoming not yours, I just need to remember to think of you in the same sympatheic manner I save for retards
in any case, i'm done with ya
OK, now I'll take your bait (against my better judgment).smashmouth said:Tampa is trying to start something here so I'll take the bait
I agree that watching 3C is probably boring to people who've never tried to play the game and who can't begin to imagine how they would shoot a shot before the champion actually shoots it. So I kind of agree with you there.smashmouth said:Any form of billiards can be very boring to watch, Carom is BY FAR the most boring of all of em and a terrific cure for insomnia
You don't mince words, do you? You are as wrong as wrong can be. Efren, for example, has played a lot of caroms (mostly balkline, as I understand it) and is nowhere near world caliber. I think it likely that he could be if gave up pool and devoted himself to 3C, but he's Efren. But no way do I think he could ever "smoke them".smashmouth said:furthermore, carom players are SECOND RATE cue artists, ANY top nine ball or snooker player could smoke them at 3C with very little practice
Not sure who you're thinking of, but I don't doubt that if a top 3C player who focused on pool they would become very good at it. The best example I can think of is Harold Worst. He was a world champion at 3C and then took up pool because 3C was dying out, and he rose to the top level at pool (won at Johnston City and Stardust before he died in his late 30's). Freddy The Beard has high praise for him in The Gospool.smashmouth said:Like any cuesport, there are a couple 3C guys that could compete with the real cue artists
And play by yourself? I think Tampa Bay is looking to learn and compete.smashmouth said:Finally, if you want to play carom so bady, either buy a carom tablem or if you're broke buy a used 7 footer and some pocket inserts
billiard dave 7 said:If you are from Tampa there are carom tables all over. There was a Oriental pool room on Waters, and another on Armenia. In Seminole there is CM Lees. He has one Chevillote 9 ft. Over on 4th St in St. Petersburg they have one also. You just need to get around. Enjoy.
I've been watching that Turkish guy Semih on youtube and he is amazing I can't believe some of the things he can make the cueball do. Just put Semih in the search box and check him out you will be impressed. In another thread someone wanted people to say who they thought had the best fundamentals stroke etc. I think we can all learn about good fundamentals from some of the world class 3 cushion players. Stance stroke delivery are excellent. PhilwRich93 said:It's a matter of taste, I guess. I love to play 3C and don't find it boring at all. I think it's beautiful.
But I find watching Jaspers against Blomdahl to be really discouraging. Their level of skill and accuracy is so amazing that I can't even imagine playing like them. I can imagine playing like Efren - not that I do, of course, but I can at least imagine it. I can't even fantasize playing like Blomdahl. Every time I watch the Europeans play 3C I shake my head in wonder. How is it possible to get so good at that game?

I came here form Asia where Carom billiards is very common. I like it so much, but when I come to this country, I can't find a bar with carom table. they all pocket tables.
Is it too hard to play 3-cushions? I found out that 9 balls (pockets) game is too boring. After a few minutes, all the ball will hit to the pockets then you start over again.... I think it is boring that is why lots of tables are for sale after couple years of owning it. Lots of friends have table for sale because they play it a lot in the first few months, then... once a month...then once a party... then...you want to get it of it to have more space.
I play 3-cushions after so many years and still attract to it and want to have my own table at home to practice some tricks....
I think you guys should try out Carom Billiards.
