I tried my first points and botched it. It was a Curly maple forearm and buttsleeve with 4 ebony points each. The points came out on the nuts
dead even on both pieces..on final taper, some ebony powder got embedded in the maple. I used air as i was cutting the taper, but to no avail, black powder got all in the maple. Any help with this matter
would be appreciated..

I guess you just cut your profit in half on your next cue. Mess a couple more and you'll be in the red like most of the rest of us.

Air sand them with 220 and that will stop a lot of that!! The higher the air pressure the better. Hold the air directly at the cue and sand paper!!

The seal maple before your final pass or passes, using epoxy or Ca this way the pours of the wood will not be so deep and the dust can be blown out using air.

Take Care

Be sure you use a very sharp blade for your cuts so there's no tear out in the grain. The smoother your cut, the cleaner the wood will stay. Also try some denatured alcohol on a clean rag to wipe piece down. It works well for me to clean dust & color bleeding out of the grain.

i agree with qb, sharp tool will make the wood cut smooth. so there will be no spill of powder. Or on this case i seal my wood first, so the wood powder will not scattered on the intire wood. another option, i exposed it to air using my compressor it will remove the dust on the woods. all works well for me...

I almost posted some helpful advice, But I noticed you have no name or location on your account. I don't like talking to CB handles.

The other advice you received is good but I would add one more thing. I always keep a bunch of the old brown art gum erasers around my bench for this reason. I erase the dust from the pores using one.
