Smokers: would you play pool in a pool hall that probited smoking?

yes- I don't mind going outside to smoke rather than force someone else to share my habit
no- because it is an infringement of my free choice
no- others should be forced to share my addiction to accomodate me

Your options are clearly orientated, try to create an objective poll to have objective answers.

while we're at it, how about
yes-if it was the only one available

The answer is simple, like they did in Ireland, ban smoking in the entire country, light up in a pub, $1,000 fine and 90 days in jail.

The only way to wake up a smoker that he is doing something bad that is killing him, is to ***** slap him in the face, and they dont like that, who does, and they react with anger, because nobody wants to be told what to do, so they defend.

You do that, not trying to be mean, but to try to save them, from their own selves. You can save a few, but the majority you cant, so you learn to live, and let die. But you might save some kid from taking up the habit.

These guys turn from cigs to cigars, thinking thats ok and cool, but they are more leathel than cigs. And blacks in the carribbean put the leaves together by spitting on them, so you are now swappin spit with them, and they have a high rate of aids, and you call that cool.

its a waste of time, trying to tell a smoker he is wroing, total waste of time.

I find that asking arrogant, busy-body Coercive Control Freaks to simply leave me alone is a waste of time. But then, I'm not trying to take over the world.

This thread reminds me of election time in a communist 1-party system.
I have some feelings on this subject but don't think this is the place to
air them.

so I'm with the people who thinks the poll is biased.....
...like an infomercial

Good old C Rations had smokes included.
I had forgotten about that... yep, they did... little 4-packs, iirc. Pretty handy if you were low on your cig rations.

I wonder if anybody has tried to sue the government for including cigs with the field meals.

Hmmmm

Help me out here but when did government NOT have the power to dictate what you do with your property? In NYC, there are zoning laws that dictate how the property can be used; landmark laws dictating how the property must be preserved; liquor laws giving owners the right to sell alcohol; hygiene laws that determine how food can be prepared, stored and served; civil rights laws that prevent owners from refusing to do business with people on the basis of race.

Ding DIng Ding. Give the man a prize. Good Post. Could not resist. And I shall NOT return as I've been in this smoking battle too many times that I have PTTD (post tramatic thread disorder) and must stay out upon doctors orders. But you guys have at it!!!!

A wise man once told me to never buy a historic house.
There are a lot of historic houses where I live. The vast majority look like crack houses and there is a good reason for that. That wise man I spoke of bought a historic house. You can't paint that house unless it is era specific paint and it is the exact color, you can't fix anything in that house until it falls off on it's own and then fixing it is an ordeal all it's own. He had a shed in the back that was almost falling down and he couldn't do anything to it because it is historic.

Occasional smoker who hates the smell of smoke

I'm curious about the distribution of responses to this. If indoor smoking is prohibited in your locality then just imagine that it wasn't.

I intentionally chose a league in a non-smoking county (with a nearby smoking county). I only smoke 3-4 cigarettes on pool league night, not any other time during the week. I hate going home smelling like smoke, and I hate gear that smells like smoke.

Yet I like cigarettes on pool night.

Smoking should be determined by the proprietor and its clentele. Not the government.

who knows, maybe the government would have stayed out of this had smokers been a little more considerate on non smokers 10 years ago.

My wife and I drove 45 miles to Kansas city to play pool at Sidepockets which happens to be a nonsmoking poolhall. It was fine. The tables were in terrific condition and there was no smoke in the air. We had a great time. Music playing in the background was also top notch. Going out to play pool locally means going in the off hours to avoid a ton (really, lots) of smoke and rap music. Just a observation. Here in St Joe people love to smoke while socializing, whether playing a game of pool or eating out and drinking. I'm sure it's pretty much the same everywhere, (except sidepockets, you have to step outside for a smoke).
