I have been teaching my son to play pool but have run into a problem ... His hand sweats so much that it raises the wood fibers on his cue shaft ...
Can anyone recommend the best glove I can get for pool players I figure this will help him out with this problem and if so the best place to get them on the net ...
 
I have the same problem with the sweaty hands. It's called Hyperhydrosis. As far as gloves, you should be able to find them vitrually anywhere.
 
I used a glove for about 4 weeks and it wasn't bad but I found that a little bit of Hand Sanitizer works best . But if a glove would work best for your son do it anything helps .
 
My son has some big hands I would say at least a large to extra large ... He is 19 now and still growing ...lol... I thought about baby powder but have been told that it is bad for the shaft and makes it pretty dirty and in need of alot of cleaning ...
 
A glove is the perfect solution.

Other than that, some hand chalk applied carefully when needed works equally well. Some pool hall owners frown on chalk finger prints on their tables.

I have some of the inexpensive felcro strap 3-finger ones, they should fit.

Here are a couple of products to nip the problem in the bud, stop the sweat. I have been meaning to try one or both but winter came and I haven't gotten around to it. No idea how well they work or if there are any negatives. Perhaps those that have tried them can comment. From what I have noted of glove wearers they make you sweat more than ever.

Sir joseph is the best but i dont use them anymore because of the lack of feel gloves have. I have the same problem as your son i just burnished the hell out of my shaft although it does need to be freshned up with a shaft cloth halfway through a long session.

I find talc to be too messy so a glove is your best out.

I currently use Sir Joseph Gloves, but recently ordered a couple of
the fancy ones made for Longoni. Hope they are worth the money.

My hands do not sweat at all, even in the summer time, but I have
found that a glove gives me a consistent feel and a smooth stroke.

I have not been able to find them anywhere on the Internet.
The two I have forthcoming will arrive by way of Mexico.

A good friend is currently in Mexico playing in a Billiards Tournament. When
he returns to the U.S., my new Longoni gloves will be in his luggage.

Great post, I was gonna bring up the same thing,kinda. Someone at the poolhall told me to put anti perspirant on my bridge hand before I left to go shoot pool, I'm down south near marsh where it is very humid and I don't like powder. It worked and my cue shaft smells great:thumbup: Ron
