It's been 6 long years hunting down 9ft Diamonds, saving money for a down-payment and looking at building after building.
Yesterday morning things turned a corner with my purchase of the old Lena Fire Station.
Of all the buildings I've agonized over this one makes the most sense

- Men's and Woman's restrooms
- Kitchen
- Meeting room perfect for the bar
- Engine room with space for ten 9ft tables

I'm filled with mixed excitement and apprehension. Now the real work begins....

Wish me luck!

Good luck!

Its worth hanging in there for the right building.Going with Diamonds is also worthwhile.

Show us picks as you progress.

Awesome! Good on you chasing this dream.

Freedom Billiards?

Got a cool ring to it

Good luck!

Firehouse Billiards, I can just see the marketing potential. I wish you the very best of luck and I wish I was you this would be awesome. Any idea when you think you will be ready to open? I know there is alot to do but I may be in that area at the start of the year and would love to stop by.

Wow!!! I heard you were working on this - I play in the Monday night Monroe league. I wish you the best of luck and I'll be sure to make it down! It will be a treat to have some 9 footers in the area

Eric

Best of luck. Will you be able to keep the firehouse theme? IMO, it could be a unique ambiance and help with business.

If the slide pole is still there dam....imagine what could be done with it

I know i'm nowhere near the continent to be excited but i can't help but be excited about this new establishment.
Would be nice if you could start a new thread with updates of the set up, gonna be real cool...plus you can solicit some free ideas here.
Goodluck!~ :)

Matt took me through the building a short time ago, loads of potential.
Hope all the NW IL players are looking forward to it as much as I am.

Thanks for all the kind words. They brighten my day.

Some of you have asked about a firehouse theme. Unfortunately this building was constructed during the 1950's in straight forward utilitarian fashion. Interior design is fairly boring. If a visitor didn't know it was built as a fire station they probably wouldn't guess it. Also being one story there is no brass poll. If it had been built 30 or 50 years earlier design would be more interesting. Aside from all that it will make an excellent Pool Hall.

I'll get more pics up ASAP.

Anyone in the area that would like a sneak peak is welcome to it. Just get a hold of me and we can set up a time. Most nights I'll be there working/cleaning anyway. Last night the kitchen was my 1st victim and I must say the results are pleasing.

Eric (emf123), I will be subbing in Monroe from time to time to qualify for Wisconsin state. Please introduce yourself. I'd like to meet you.

Mark Cantrill (bfdlad), Hopefully by the time you are in the area I will be open. If not we can still get together and shoot. One of the 1st things on the agenda is getting at least a couple of tables set up.

Matt, I will be in touch for sure. You need to get the beer and wine licence at the same time as you get the tables too :) Do you know when you might be done though? whats your projected time?
