Random thoughts...
To reiterate what has already been said, boxing itself is a sham...so many weight classes, so many divisions, so many organizations. It's no wonder the sport is mired with cheating...there is too much stuff going on for anyone to really notice or care.
That being said (and w/o watching the fight) Manny is obviously still cresting on an already great career, and De La Hoya's career has been in decline pretty much since he was robbed of victory against Trinidad, victory against Fernando Vargas notwithstanding.
My thoughts are anyone complaining about paying for the fight needs to take a look at the man in the beer reflection, because it has been made apparent that these fights De La Hoya has been promoting and fighting in, he is way, way the underdog.
Anyway, props De La Hoya for a great career (39 wins - 30 KOs - 6 losses). I hope you're happy in retirement. I used to watch all of your fights.

Their heavyweight champion is an ex-pro wrestler with 6 fights? There's a joke.

thebigdog said:I disagree with that statement. I have regretted every PPV UFC fight I have paid for. Boxing does have its share of duds but then you get that one great fight that sucks you back into the sport. The most recent was the Margarito-Cotto fight a few months back. UFC is pretty boring to me, and the way I see it that sport is resembling WWE more every day.
I have Direct TV and had to pay an extra $10 to get the fight in HD. Am I the only one who is really pissed off about that? I know that I pay an extra $10 a month per HD reciever on my account. Since I pay for these receivers shouldn't I get all programs in HD that are offered. They pulled the same move the NFL Sunday ticket package selling the package for one price and then only giving the games in standard definition after the first week, I had to pay an extra $100 to be able to watch the games in HD. Do companies like comcast charge extra for PPV programs in HD as well?
teedotaj said:Agreed. UFC fights are good to watch. The titles that come with the wins...they're all jokes. How can someone who only have 6 matches under his belt become the number one contender? It's cuz Dana White says so.JoeyInCali said:LOL

I guess he can play some $10,000 sets. Also, he has been designated a National Treasure in the Philippines if I have the title right. Also, made and making movies.
When I saw that picture of him without the shirt I thought I was looking into a mirror...except for the mustache.

In all fairness to ODH I would have to say that it was a boxer that also plays pool that beat him. I cant see a pool player of any decent caliber having the time to be a pro boxer. I can see a pro boxer that fight once a blue moon having some spare time to play pool though.

I can't believe how bad the betting line turned out to be for this match. Didn't you have to bet 180 to win 100 betting on Oscar?

Well Mr Bookie,Gum9Ball said:I nailed almost every Tucson pool player with an EVEN bet. They didn't care that ASU was a 12 point favotite. (the idiots!)
Final score... U of A, 31- ASU, 10. Then the creep's robbed me for several more $$$ playing pool after the tournament.
It was not a good night for Dickie.

PS. Gum9ball and his Road partner AD, got me drunk. I am plotting revenge.
