I have been thinking about printing some posters. They would be 20x30" in size and sell for around $35. Below are some ideas. Any feedback on what you do or don't like is appreciated.

great minds think alike :)
or is it that slow minds eventually get there too :)

Wasn't it Ralph Gleason that played Fats in the movie, though?

Not a bad idea, but I'm not confident that you would sell many at that price. I am in the same market and most posters of that size range in the $7.99-$12.99 range. You will need to find a way to cut production costs - a good place to start off with such a project would be www.zazzle.com .

At that site, you would be able to test the waters and get an idea of how much it would cost to produce, market and distribute the product in a variety of different ways (T-shirts, screensavers, mugs, posters, cards, etc).

It is also a good idea not to post your pictures on the forums unless you don't mind people downloading them. It would be wise to place a diagonal strip with your marking that goes completely across the image to prevent unauthorized duplication. It saves a lot of headaches.

Good luck! Great photos!

Steve...Although Jackie Gleason's alter ego was RALPH Cramden, his given name was Herbert John Gleason. He preferred Jackie! :D

See, I networked the error a whole nother step :)

Ralph Cramden --> Was really Jackie Gleason --> who played Minny Fats --> appropriated by Rudy Wanderone --> becomes Ralph Wanderone :)

Thanks for the tip Scott. I fixed it.

LOL. You guys will like this. Too make sure I spelled the name right I googled "Ralph Wanderone" and came up here: http://www.google.com/search?client=opera&rls=en&q=ralph+wanderone&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

First link is to a pool forum and it confirmed my first guess so I ran with it. I just looked on the forum after I found out I had gotten it wrong and found out that this is where the legendary Fast Larry and Pool Sleuth are hanging their hats now. :p

Moral of the story: Check your source.

Psychiatrist is misspelled, but other than that and the Fats thing, you are good to go. Those are just awesome photos! Good luck on your venture. :)

Thanks for the link.

If the posters won't sell for that price point it really is not worth fooling with. Cost to print on a 24x36 or similar is any where from $6 (if you buy a 100) to $30 ish if you buy 'em in small numbers. This is from an average of 4 different on line printers. I am sure you could find a deal if you looked hard enough. Basically if I cant make 10 or 20 apiece why fool with it? I figure if people will go off for 20 bucks for a chalk holder that is imported: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=64660&highlight=chalk+holder maybe they will spend 10 bucks more to get an original poster isn't too crazy.

Guess we will see.

As far putting big watermarks on my pictures, I do not do it for a couple of reasons. First and foremost is because I hate it when someone puts up a picture that I may find interesting if not for the gnarly copyright line that obscures the whole middle of the photo. I know why they do it, I just don't like it, so I don't do it. I put my web address on the pictures so when they get stolen somewhere down the line some one will say "Hey I like that, I am gonna go look at this guys stuff" and maybe THEY will buy something :D . In the end if I can't generate enough interest to break even for the time I spend, I will just go do something else and they can steal someone else's stuff, until there is nothing left worth stealing :D

Thanks for the info and the compliments Blackjack I appreciate it.

Thanks Linda. Fixed it.

#5 would be great if it was centered LOL Just kidding. :D

It is hard finding nice classy posters of pool. I especially like black and white ones. I have these ones framed up nicely.

Yeah, drop the quote... Let the image speak for itself.

Also, nude women would help them sell. :p
