Pool Table Pockets Should be 3.75 INCHES WIDE

If you're talking about commercial poolrooms smaller pockets are a business-killer. Your generic/recreational ball-banger wants to see balls go in the hole. Having one or two tight table for "players" is fine but as a whole pockets should be at least 4.5" which is still fairly snug. Regular commercial GoldCrowns have always been 4.75". They make 'em that way for a reason, so roomowners stay in business.

The game needs more of a challenge. Having an alternate loser breaks rule does help keep players from running packs of racks, having smaller/tighter pockets like snooker would help.

No, as a matter of fact, the game does not need more of a challenge.

It seems you are obsessed with the idea it does - can you explain why. And what exactly
would be the benefit of your proposal?

IMHO - you are not alone, but you are part of a small minority... a tiny minority.

They should change the pool table pockets to 3.75 inches wide max. It would be more challenging and exciting to watch players in matches than using 4.00+ inch pockets they use now.

One thing it would do is increase the number of safes so if you like to watch players play safe it is a good idea. Why stop there why not just go to 3" pockets and play 3 ball.

I play on 4" and that's plenty tight. Once they get too small, the game starts to become a joke.

As an odd coincidence, pant pockets happen to be the same size as that found on a pool table. I learned that from a United Pant Makers Association of America trade paper article entitled: "How To Have Fun In A Pant Pockets". :)

Stock pockets on GC1,2,3,& 4's have always been 5" corners and 5 1/2" sides;)

I love the 5 inch pockets on mine. Makes it more fun when non pool playing friends come over and can run a few balls

No thanks! That tight pocket looks unfriendly.

I bet if you put up a video of yourself beating the ghost on a 4" pocket you might get some to agree with you.

I have a 7' Valley with untouched pocket sizes and a 9' Gold Crown with 4 1/2" pockets at home. I can beat the 9 ball ghost on the Valley but I can not come close to doing it on the GC. Many of the people who come to play on my table normally play on Pro-cut Diamond barboxes, they feel the Gold Crown with 4 1/2' pockets is a much tougher table to shoot on. I think maybe it might be a better idea to do more of a pocket size to table size ratio rather than just use the same pocket sizes on all tables.

Not me

I played on a 9' table that had 4" corner pockets and I sucked. I think 4.25 minimum on corners and 4.75 sides would be ok for me, especially with a fairly deep shelf.

anything below 4.25 i think effect the natural flow of the game....mayb 4.0 for one pocket only....anything below unnatural things happen....well hit balls not falling etc.
