Pool Terminology gone wrong....

First off this is a super light hearted post. My girlfriend is a funny woman and she has pointed out to me something that I did not know I do that drives her crazy...with that I'll lead in.

She likes chain restaurants because they are the same wherever we are in the country. I'm the opposite. She wanted to have steaks last night and wanted to go to Texas Roadhouse. My exact response was,"Greenbrier's gives Texas Roadhouse the orange crush and the breaks." Now after I said this in .2 seconds I was onto the next thought yet she was staring at me blankly. When I politely ask her,"What the hell are you confused about?" She fires off with,"When you are ready to speak English I can figure out whether we are going to Texas Roadhouse or not."

It was really funny because I didn't realize I randomly say pool terms in my everyday life. She claims I do it all the time but I doubt it.

Anyways the question for all of us lovely AZers is....Are there any "pool" terms you use or say regularly in everyday conversation whether pool is involved or not. If yes do you ever confuse the hell out of non pool players when you do so? Keep it fun, it's easter think WWJD haha.
 
Texas Roadhouse gives all other chain steaks the 7 and the crackles!!

The one that keeps appearing lately among my pool friends is "fade." Such as I can't fade him. Is it just SFLA? LOL
 
The only I can think of is if something is blocking my sight of what I am looking at I'll say that I am snookered.

Ex. I'm trying to make a right turn but a pile of snow is blocking my view of on coming traffic, "The snow bank has me snookered"
 
I don't use any pool terms in my life, but dude....it sounds like you're girlfriend has you "behind the eight ball"!:grin:

mmmmm.... never considered the "orange crush" to include the break. I believe it's just a refference to the soda can being orange with white lettering, not "crush reffering to the break.

I've been using "fade" a lot, I think it's actually from outside the pool hall but the pool world has sort of adopted it.

I also say "I'll spot you"... like someone called me a dork and I said they spot me the 7 and a beanie cap in dorkiness.
 
Yeah orange crush never included the break for me, but I can see where in some places it may. Usually just means the 5 and out to me.

Today I noticed a couple more slips that came out. Told someone to "bet that" at the supermarket for no apparent reason during check out.

I did some other stuff to.

Anyways my buddy wants you to know that gettin pepper sprayed is screwed up. So Robert Ray if you're reading this, don't pepper spray people, it's not nice!
 
I use 'dogged it' lots. Like when I go to the store and forget what I was supposed to buy...I dogged it again.
 
Right!... Texas Roadhouse:confused:...owned by a company in New York... leaves me speechless.
 
I will say that the Iowa Steak House on Euclid could give the Texas Roadhouse the 7 out. Especially if you like to eat a lot when you sit down. 20 oz is the smallest they got!:p

After the state tournament run last week, I am finding it hard to 'modify' my language today. Some pool language is not so good once you hit the real world again.:sorry:
 
I use Shark or sharking alot for everything. i.e we were having breakfast the other day and the sun was shining in my eyes really bright snd so I started trying to lean to one side a little. There were 4 of us at the table and someone asked "Are you ok?" I said "yeah I can't eat my breakfast normally cos the sun keeps sharking me when I sit up straight"
 
My wife plays pool also so nothing gets by her.

In fact its funny if were going to a new restaurant she has to give me what we call Poolhall directions

For example she says:

From our room you head east like your going to "Jimmy's" go past where "Pro Billiards" used to be then turn like your going to "Clicks north" and the resraurant is just before that on the left.
 
Years ago when I would see a baby crying I would announce loudly...

"Stop crying. You're not getting any weight. You'll have to play even."

Talk about some puzzled glances from parents, etc.
