What tunes so you like to hear while your playing pool.

Examples:

George Thorogood
Led Zepplin
Tom Petty

To me when i hear George's Bad to the Bone i think of a smokey filled pool room complete with dodgy charcters of all types.

Was just curious what song jolt your level of play when you hear them. I know when i hear a song i really like when im playing it does slightly elevates my play.

Whats your favorites?? God knows i need some new Juke Box picks

for some odd reason ZZ TOP allows me to ignore all the outside distractions, focus in on what i am doing at the table, really like the strong beat and tempo.

Bad to the Bone has an old video of George playing pool against Bo Didley (one of his guitar idols). Willie Mosconi is featured in the video as the "money man" with a brick-house blonde on his arm. It's old - but a fun video. You can still find it on Youtube.

Other great songs that seem to perk up my game me include:
One burbon, one scotch, one beer - G. Thorougood
Willie the Wimp - SRV
Rack em up - Johnny Lang
When the Levee Breaks - Led Zepplin
Misissippi Queen - Mountain (or Ozzy)
Superstition - Stevie Wonder / SRV
Voodoo Child - Jimi / SRV / Angilique Kidjo
and sadly - Werewolves of London - Warren Zevon (holdover from the color of money I guess) I's almost laughable...

As background music to shoot by I like 60's, 70's, and 80's pop.
If I were to pick one song for a poolhall, I'd go with 'Picture', by Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow.

for me when i want to block out all the Riff Raff noise, i throw on the iPod and Push Play onto "Our Lady Peace"

My favorite song to hear when I'm starting to play is Thunderstruck by AC/DC.

One night for league against a particularly disliked team we played ELO's showdown...but they never got the pun.

But if I had to listen to just one group it would be the Allman Brothers.

When practicing with an ipod,

Andy Mckee
Don Ross
Antoine Darfour
Kaki King

I like music that calms me.

When it comes to music playing in the pool room, I actually prefer top 40 stuff because I can ignore it. I find that when there is music on that I really enjoy (with the exception of the above four mentioned) it tends to distract me.

The sound of people playing pool with Blues playing in the background provides a nice atmosphere (to me at least).

Blues, quietly played, is nice.

Die and go to heaven is "Pictures at an Exhibition", Modest Mussorgsky; alas, available only on my IPod.

When I was younger I played everyday at a men's social club. They had two BEATIFUL Brunswick Anniversary 9 footers. Well, I would skip school to go and during the day when all the "old timers" were there playing straights and one hole they would listen to nothing but oldies music. I was only about 15, 16 but i just seemed right.

I like listening to Jam bands when i am playing. I like to use the beat to get me in rhythm. When i am shooting good, i will listen to the same song over and over again.

Bands like
OAR
Dispatch
Phish
Rusted Root
